Question: Should I do M.Sc in Digital Systems Engineering,Digital Signal Processing or in Artificial Intelligence? I am currently doing my UG in electronics
Answer: That depends on what you want. Actually different people have different preferences.
I believe the first two choices are much closer to your background, although I have seen AI in electrical engineering.
From what I see in my experience as a graduate student in computer science, DSP has a wide variety range of applications especially in medicine. Keep in mind that when you do research, you can combine multiple areas together in your thesis. That depends on the topic that you will choose and your supervisor.
Good luck ..
Question: How long does it take to process an employment visa for Dubai? I was offfered a job in Dubai as a Systems Engineer two months ago. I was asked to join the company by mid-june 2008 though the offer letter did not mention any date of joining in it. However, since i had a US degree, i had to send my certificates for attestation to the US. Only on receipt of this could the company arrange for an employment visa. The complany received the certs on June 25, 2008 & told me that they will process the visa immediately. I am waiting now for a month & nothing has come across still. I heard that as per the new rules it takes 30-45 days to process the employment visa for Dubai. Is it true? Pls help........any information with this regard will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

be patient as your degree is from usa. there's some clearance required by dubai authorities
Question: How long will it take an air compressor to pressurize a given volume? OK. I asked a similar question several years ago, but after more research I still don't have a satisfying answer. So this time around, please bear with me as I give very specific details. Maybe that will help get the answer I need:
The short of it is that I'm trying to figure out how long an air compressor on a locomotive would take to bring the pressure in the brake system of a train from 14.7 psia (atmosphere) to 90 psia.
Suppose the train consists of 100 cars. Each car is 50 feet long. The main brake pipe has an internal diameter of 1 inch. Let's call the piping on each car 60 feet long to account for secondary pipes, the additional length of hose to couple one car to the next, etc... Using the formula:
V = pi * r^2 * L
we can determine the volume of the pipe on a single car is 47.123 cu. in., or 0.027 cu. ft. (47.123 / 1728).
It is a pretty consistent fact in the railroad industry that each car also has a "service" and "emergency" air reservoir with a combined volume of 6000 cu. in, or 3.47 cu. ft. This give us a total volume per freight car of 3.499 cu. ft. Multiply that by 100 cars and the locomotive compressor needs to pressurize basically 350 cu. ft.
Now here's where I have a problem: I have a locomotive manual sitting in front of me that says the on-board air compressor "capacity" is 254 cu. ft. / minute. My assumption (probably wrong) up to this point has been that the "capacity" is the pressurized output. But theoretically that would mean the entire 100-car train could be pressurized in about 1.37 minutes (350/254).
If the "capacity" is actually an intake figure, would there be a way to calculate the rate of outflow? Perhaps 254 cuft / [90psi / 14.7psi atmosphere] = 41.48 cuft / min outflow?
If the above is legit, that still only gets me half way to where I need to be. 350 cuft / 41.48 = 8.43 minutes. But all my research both via articles and talking to actual railroad engineers suggests it can take better than 15 minutes to pressurize the system.
Additional consideration is that a train almost never has just 1 locomotive. That 100-car train may have 3, each with an air compressor contributing to the system. Divide that 8.43 minutes by 3 contributing compressors and I'm back down under 3 minutes -- WAY short of that 15-minute mark.
Can anyone shed some light on what I'm missing in my thought process? Thanks in advance.
Response to Ecko:
I know the train charge time isn't properly provided. In part that's because there is no single answer. There are too many factors -- temperature, humidity, length of train, leakage in the connections between each car, etc... I'm just trying to get a ballpark formula. When my first-hand sources agree that 15 minutes is a reasonable time and the best I can come up with is 8 minutes, something has to be off in my assumptions.
The links you provided look very promising. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do :-)
Answer: Compressor capacity is usually in standard cubic feet per minute (60 degs F 14.7 psia).
You need to have your required storage volume also in standard cubic feet per minute to determine pump up time. Remember at pressure the volume will be much more in terms of standard cubic feet than just the calculated volume of the system. If you neglect temperature the pressurized volume will be 90/14.7 or 6.12 times larger at standard conditions. Based on your 1.37 minutes, I would say the answer should be 8.39 minutes.
Question: WE ALL KNOW WHO BLEW UP THE TWIN TOWers...? Or do we?
It's September 11 all over again - eight years on. The George W Bush administration is out. The "global war on terror" is still on, renamed "overseas contingency operations" by the Barack Obama administration. Obama's "new strategy" - a war escalation - is in play in AfPak. Osama bin Laden may be dead or not. "Al-Qaeda" remains a catch-all ghost entity. September 11 - the neo-cons' "new Pearl Harbor" - remains the darkest jigsaw puzzle of the young 21st century.
It's useless to expect US corporate media and the ruling elites' political operatives to call for a true, in-depth investigation into the attacks on the US on September 11, 2001. Whitewash has been the norm. But even establishment highlight Dr Zbig "Grand Chessboard" Brzezinski, a former national security advisor, has admitted to the US Senate that the post-9/11 "war on terror" is a "mythical historical narrative".
The following questions, some multi-part - and most totally ignored by the 9/11 Commission - are just the tip of the immense 9/11 iceberg. A hat tip goes to the indefatigable work of 911truth.org; whatreallyhappened.com; architects and engineers for 9/11 truth; the Italian documentary Zero: an investigation into 9/11; and Asia Times Online readers' e-mails.
None of these questions has been convincingly answered - according to the official narrative. It's up to US civil society to keep up the pressure. Eight years after the fact, one fundamental conclusion is imperative. The official narrative edifice of 9/11 is simply not acceptable.
Fifty questions
1) How come dead or not dead Osama bin Laden has not been formally indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as responsible for 9/11? Is it because the US government - as acknowledged by the FBI itself - has not produced a single conclusive piece of evidence?
2) How could all the alleged 19 razor-blade box cutter-equipped Muslim perpetrators have been identified in less than 72 hours - without even a crime scene investigation?
3) How come none of the 19's names appeared on the passenger lists released the same day by both United Airlines and American Airlines?
4) How come eight names on the "original" FBI list happened to be found alive and living in different countries?
5) Why would pious jihadi Mohammed Atta leave a how-to-fly video manual, a uniform and his last will inside his bag knowing he was on a suicide mission?
6) Why did Mohammed Atta study flight simulation at Opa Locka, a hub of no less than six US Navy training bases?
7) How could Mohammed Atta's passport have been magically found buried among the Word Trade Center (WTC)'s debris when not a single flight recorder was found?
8) Who is in the possession of the "disappeared" eight indestructible black boxes on those four flights?
9) Considering multiple international red alerts about a possible terrorist attack inside the US - including former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice's infamous August 6, 2001, memo - how come four hijacked planes deviating from their computerized flight paths and disappearing from radar are allowed to fly around US airspace for more than an hour and a half - not to mention disabling all the elaborate Pentagon's defense systems in the process?
10) Why the secretary of the US Air Force James Roche did not try to intercept both planes hitting the WTC (only seven minutes away from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey) as well as the Pentagon (only 10 minutes away from McGuire)? Roche had no less than 75 minutes to respond to the plane hitting the Pentagon.
11) Why did George W Bush continue to recite "My Pet Goat" in his Florida school and was not instantly absconded by the secret service?
12) How could Bush have seen the first plane crashing on WTC live - as he admitted? Did he have previous knowledge - or is he psychic?
13) Bush said that he and Andrew Card initially thought the first hit on the WTC was an accident with a small plane. How is that possible when the FAA as well as NORAD already knew this was about a hijacked plane?
14) What are the odds of transponders in four different planes be turned off almost simultaneously, in the same geographical area, very close to the nation's seat of power in Washington, and no one scrambles to contact the Pentagon or the media?
15) Could defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld explain why initial media reports said that there were no fighter jets available at Andrews Air Force Base and then change the reports that there were, but not on high alert?
16) Why was the DC Air National Guard in Washington AWOL on 9/11?
17) Why did combat jet fighters of the 305th Air Wing, McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey not intercept the second hijacked plane hitting the WTC, when they could have done it within seven minutes?
18) Why did none of the combat jet fighters of the 459th Aircraft Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base intercept the plane that hit the Pentagon, only 16 kilometers away? And si
Answer: yes, we know who blew up the twin towers.
Question: I m instrumentation engr. suggest me training of VLSI/ EMBEDDED/ PLC/ SCADA/ SAP/ TESTING for better job.? i passed I & C Engg. in 2004 & then i join a pvt. company of process control instruments for 3.3 year as a technical support engineer/ Technical marketing engineer. now i m free & want to join a 6 month course to better growth in carrier. i have many option like PLC/ SCADA/ VLSI Designing/ EMBEDDED SYSTEM & Designing/ SAP/ TESTING. please suggest me which is better & easy to search & getting a job.
Answer: Hi,

Question: Which of these two is the better response to the Crowley/Gates matter? Option 1: Create more sensitivity programs centered around Afro-American sensitivities. Make sure that all African-Americans are trained to be more assertive, more vocal in crying out about their victimization particularly at the hands of the police, of employers, of the justice system, and of society at large. Set up special conventions to stop profiling and black victimization in all our major cities, with programs and displays, the I-Max type videos, like at the Holocaust museum in Washington DC. Send out History Mobiles around the country to all the schools showing film and still pictures of black victimization, in the South, in Chicago, In Detroit, specially trained Park Rangers would give live lectures and answer questions, for a few decades, until every kid had seen the program at least five times, and the Harriet Tubman story at least 10 times.
Option 2: Reduce the Federal funding going to Harvard University and specifically to any of its programs that are oriented toward Identity Group history, ethics, or politics. Do this for all elitist Eastern Establishment universities, not just Harvard, but also Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, Princeton, etc. By systematically withdrawing support for Race Related Studies programs create a learning environment in which people could not get a degree from one of these universities by learning all about their own (or anybody's) racial group, it history of victimization, it's problems, it's disadvantages. Create a learning environment in which each graduate comes out of the Ultra-Prestige Universities with a degree that will allow them to earn a living without fostering more Identity Group Awareness and/or militancy, and/or crusading or baiting. Something like engineering, or accounting, or small business management, or dance, or painting, or English, or finance, or pure science. Keep eliminating Federal funding, at the rate of 10% per reduction until these Ultra-Brilliant Centers of All Wisdom get the message. If they never do, cut 100% of all Federal funding going to them. Let them be Ultra-brilliant on their own nickle. That would called the Veritas Program of Arrogance Reduction and Social Stabilization.
Please just pick Option #1, or Option #2.
After that, if you have time, give me some reasons for your choice.
Please don't mush the two options together, by trying to choose both. If you choose neither, then, don't bother to respond. I want responses not insults. The idea is to put yourself through the full thought process required to decide which of these obviously extreme alternatives is the worst, and which is therefore the better. Nobody here, or anywhere else is likely to implement either of the options as written. But you can know yourself better and more deeply is you just make your choice between these two options. Thank you so much, please pass the thoughtful answers, hold the pickles, and the rebukes.
Answer: Option 2. Option one may appear to be 'fixing' the problem, but by dividing people in to ethnic groups, giving preferential treatment to minorities, etc and it only perpetuates discrimination and racial tensions. It is forcing it upon people. Option two does not try to force people to accept an idea, because it is not being taught and it does not further the racial divide. Option two also would allow for the removal of the system in schools where professors and teachers use their position to advance a political interest.
Question: hi ques. about job in usa? hi i am hardik, from india and recently completed my graduation in I.T Field from a leading engineering college in india.
i know its recession in usa and all around the world so usa citizens will hate me i came to us on h1b and that too in an i.t company.
also i think i am doing it early.
my question is after 3 yrs when this recession will get over, will americans accept me ? yeah, i always follow legal way. talking about my eligibility
i am graduate and after i will be having 3 yrs working exp. and a master's degree in I.T (by correspondence course with job)
also i am ceh (certified ethical hacker) and trained for LPT (licenced penetrating tester) ,can prove my english proficiency by toefl etc..
and yes LET ME CLEAR THAT I AM NOT ANY F@#KING CALL CENTER BOY HAVING POOR EDUCATION OR KNOWING BAD INDIAN ACCENT ENGLISH ( CALL CENTER BOYS ARE GENERALLY FAILURE STUDENTS IN ACEDEMIC QUALIFICATION).
AS MANY AMERICANS HAVE PROBLEMS WITH CALL CENTER BOYS. I AM BASICALLY IN SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING AND HACKING FIELD. SO WILL AMERICANS STILL HATE ME (I MEAN AFTER LEGAL PROCESS,ALL QUALIFICATION AND AFTER RECESSION) BASICALLY i am attracted by american culture
freedom,liberty,equality,clubs,party,h… islands,strips,hollywood etc so I want to leave this f@@king indian system and just move to us. (by the way i hate caste system,orthodoxic behavior of indians etc..) yeah FRANKLY SPEAKING I WANT TO MAKE US MY PERMANENT HOME (WORK FOR US WELFARE AND SECURITY).MY JOB IN LPT IS REQUIRED BY FBI,CIA ETC...AND EVEN REMAIN IN SIDE OF US AGAINST ANY PROBLEM WITH INDIA.
AND YES I DON'T BELIEVE IN ANY RELIGION BUT BY BORN I AM A HINDU (FOLLOWING HINDUISM) SO WILL STILL AMERICANS HATE ME??????
Answer: People in America, aren't really as bad as you think or the media makes us appear to be. Sure, there are certain parts that aren't so great but there are so many great places here with wonderful people. You will be accepted in the recession, after the recession..whatever. You just have to find a place that is right for you
Question: A recent spell in hospital in the UK got me thinking about the different levels of the social safety net.? A recent short period of hospitalisation in the UK brought home to me some of the key differences beween the UK and the US in terms of their respective systems of medical and social care. I was taken by ambulance to my local Primary Care NHS (National Health Service)hospital (a regional hospital with specialist care for major traumas etc) and provided treatment and advice from 3 different levels of doctor. First in A&E (I was seen within 45 minutes), then after being transferred to a short term care ward (up to 5 days expected stay) was seen a more senior doctor specialiseing in my condition, given approprate treatment and then subsequently seen by a senior consultant. My treatment and progress was monitored throughout by a network of doctors and other specialists including a physiotherapist and I was given advice on what I needed to do to complete my recovery. When I had recovered sufficiently I was discharged with a prescription of a months worth of medication to support my recovery. I was also given advice on the nutrition and excercise requirements to aid my recovery.
I would imagine that the level of medical care provided was similar to the US for people with full medical insurance. The main difference is that under the NHS it is free to any person in the country including citizens from other EU countries. I have no medical insurance because I do not need it. People in the UK who can afford it have medical insurance to receive essentially the same medical treatment in more comfortable and private surroundings and to get quicker treatment for some non-urgent procedures for which there is a waiting list in the NHS. Of course they still have access to the NHS for more urgent treatment.
After discharge I was passed into the care of my local GP (local community doctor) and local social services who took an active part in ensuring I had the support I needed in my recovery and in any other areas visiting me in my home to discuss these areas with me
Many of the staff of the NHS are provided by second generation Afro-Carribian immigrants or more recent immigrants from the accession states of the EU (Poland, Hungry, Czech republic etc) and from countries such as the Philipines showing one of the great benefits of a massive influx of highly educated and trained immigrants from countries with excellent education and training systems but who currently are at a lower level of economic development than the leading economic powers like the US, established EU states, Japan etc.
The NHS is not perfect by any means but it is going through a massive process of re-engineering itself with large regional hospitals becoming self governing NHS Trusts and outsourcing non-medical services to outside private sector bidders on a competitive bidding system and the whole system monitiored by performance indicators with mechanisms to correct poor performance Great efforts are being made to cater better to the needs of people who because of poor English language skills (another by product of mass immigration), lack of knowledge of the system or lack of basic life skills, including those with mental disabities, who may therefore have difficulty getting full access to to the facilities and help available.
The NHS and other bodies are also actively pursueing ways of improving care and support for people in the community particularly to support them through the recovery phase. There is also an initiartive to give people access to self diagnoses and advice on nutrition, excercise etc and specific areas such as problem drinking or the whole range of medical conditions. This is targeted at low income groups who do not have access to the internet at home and may have poor IT skills.This is being done by using the internet facilities that already exist in public libraries and by training library staff in supporting the people concerned with advice on using the system. Medically trained staff will come into the library regurlarly to provide further support in face to face consultation. This is in addition to the services of the GP network. Again all these services are free to any member of the public including of course all new immigrants and any EU citizen.
For key public sector workers including NHS staff and others on low income or suffering financial hardship through, for instance, marriage breakup a system exists for the provision of low cost home ownership.
A system to provide shared ownership of houses and apartments is provided by government funded Housing Associations who provide newly built or second hand properties on the basis of an initial capital contribution funded out of capital. This will be either a from a mortgage or cash, often from the proceeds of the sale of a previuos home as a result of divorce with the usual 50/50 split of the proceeds of the sale of the matrimonial home, or from savings. This capital contribution can be as low as 30 % of the full market value and can range up to 70% or
Question too long & cut off by system. Any suggestions.
Question at the end was how people thought the UK system compared with the US. Two countries of similar per capita income.
In US you pay for very expensive medical insurance or risk having no access to medical care at all. In the UK good quality medical care is available free for all (inc EU citizens).
Answer: I've been through the NHS system and have always had good treatment.
the only thing I have with it is that the foreign staff do good work but is this at the expense of the healthcare in their own nations.?
Is it right that the NHS takes medical staff from poorer countries where the people there need it as well as we do.?
Question: Can I get a work Visa to United States? Case background of entity ABC:
I had my H1B stamped through a company XX, though I did not intend to go to US and didnt even know when the company filed my H1 petition. Then I left the company XX and joined the company YY. I had to undergo a short training in US for which the company YY asked me to file B1/B2 to enable me to visit US. I secured B1/B2 (with multiple entries) and since then have traveled to US four times during my career span.
I joined company ZZ, and during background check process it was understood that my bachelors degree could not be verified with the concerned university and it was tagged as 'invalid'. So later on, I removed 'graduation' entry from my profile. My profile now states that I am not a graduate. Now my question is, will I be eligible for H1 visa considering the above history. Now I have total 11 years of IT experience but will the consulate allow me to file H1 considering the fact that during previous two visa filing, it seems the education information now stands wrong in their database. Please advise.
Education background:
I had given my graduation through a private institute after formally completing 12 + 1 year of study. But the unfortunate part was, the said institute was not affiliated with any university and the degree that I got in the name of 'official' university turned out to be fake. I inquired with the institute and it seems they wound up their business and fled. Now this has put a black stigma on my profile.
Now though I have honestly removed the graduation entry from my profile after the failed background check, but really want to know whether I can persue an IT career in US.
I have secured the following other IT qualifications:
Advanced Diploma course from National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) - five semesters
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Sun Certified Java Professional - v2 and v6 (SCJP)
Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD)
Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD)
Sun Certified Enterprise Architect - Part 1 (SCEA)
NSE - Beginners Financial Module (NSE) - Non IT
Like I have no 'all-out' plan to move to US, but would like to consider given an option.
Thank you
Answer: H1B requires at least a bachelor's degree. If you are unable to provide this evidence, you will not be eligible regardless of experience or other qualifications.
Question: Do I have a shot at a good Law School in Canada or the US? I'm an unhappy engineer thinking of applying to law school with the ultimate goal of specializing in IP/patent law. Based on my personality traits, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, I think I am better suited for a career in law than in design/engineering.
Here are my stats:
I graduated from McMaster University in '2004 with a B. Eng in Electrical Engineering, my GPA over the four years was 3.4 (B+/A-, if i did the conversion correctly! - McMaster has a strange 12 pt. grading scale)
I have been working as a control systems engineer for the past 4 years. Presently, I am employed with a nuclear engineering firm and I am in the process of acquiring my P. Eng license.
I haven't taken the LSAT yet, nor have I started preparing for it. First, I'd like to know if I even have a reasonable chance, given my dismal GPA (granted in an arguably tough major, but I reckon most law schools could not care less about my undergrad major), of getting into a worthwhile school in the US or Canada.
So what do you think?
I really need to do something else with my life, and I am exploring all of the options. It's just that trained to be very analytical, and to think before I act.
I'm willing to relocate for the right school/opportunity.
Answer: Most law schools in Canada base admission on a combination of LSAT and GPA, so it is hard to comment on your situation without knowing how you will do on the LSAT. Also, some law schools take only 3 of your best years (out of a 4 year program).
Order an LSAT prep package which, IIRC, contains 10 old exams. REad the instructions and do the exams. Time yourself and pretend you are actually writing the test. This way you will get a fair idea of how you will do when the real test time comes.
Visit the Canadian law school web sites and look at the admission requirements. Compare your GPA and LSAT with those listed. The University of Manitoba actually publishes their calculation method, and if you plug in your LSAT and GPA you come up with a score.
Take at look at this web site because it is very helpful:
http://www.lsac.org/Choosing/law-school-links.asp#can
Don't worry too much about which law school you go to - when is the last time you asked which medical school your doctor attended?
Law is a difficult profession. It is extremely stressful and law school is nothing at all like practicing law. Did you know that 1 in 3 lawyers in the US (according to the Harvard review) have either an alcohol or cocaine abuse problem? Did you know that only 40% of UVic law school graduates are practicing law 4 years post graduation?
You need to really consider whether or not it is the right profession for you, because it is a time consuming and costly education. Don't forget that you also need to article for one year and pass the Bar exam to be eligible to practice.
I don't want to be a downer, I just want you to really analyse the situation and career before you leap.
Question: Does Systems Engineering work ? "Systems Engineering traditions have worked their way into the DNA of software project management, software process, and software methodology. In my opinion this explains much of the mediocrity we witness in IT projects, even the “successful” ones."
Answer: Yes. Sure.
Question: How to begin moving to another country? I'm currently in school right now studying to get an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). Once graduated, I'm hoping to leave the country and move to Australia. I'm just curious how I'd get the ball rolling on this to turn this from a dream to a reality? What processes do I have to go through to make this happen? Is it even possible? If someone would be as kind as to kind of give me a step by step guide to becoming a citizen in this country, I'd be most appreciative.
Answer: In addition to checking the Embassy / Consulate websites for Australia to find the regulations for getting a visa, you should check out various expat websites to find out what life is like there:
http://www.expatintelligence.com/expat-australia.shtml
http://www.australia.alloexpat.com/
http://www.expatforum.com/expats/australia-expat-forum-expats-living-australia/
Generally, these will have a lot of good information on daily life and negotiating the bureaucracy when you arrive and provide you with useful information you should know before you make the transition. The information is usually provided by someone who has already made the transition. This can include how to get a driver's license, whether you need to register as a resident and how to do it, how to apply for permission to stay if you need it, how to get a tax id (i.e., local version of SSN), and many other things.
I can't help you directly with Australia since I moved to Italy, but I can tell you it's a rewarding experience although it can be a lot of work. There's a lot more to becoming a citizen than there is to gain residency. Here in Italy, you have to be a resident for 10 years before it would be possible to become a citizen unless you meet certain Italian heritage conditions. You'll want to look into the tax situation carefully. Where I am, it's necessary to file tax returns both in Italy and the US every year.
Question: How far can I get by reverse-engineering ? The system development process has generated a safety-critical system plus other artefacts such as a paper user manual/procedures to demo the system.
How would I go trying to doctor a copy of the code and then reverse-engineer changes into the other artefacts to "reflect the released code" ?
Also might I doctor a copy of the "user manual/procedure to demo the system" and reverse-engineer those changes into the code.
I suppose only a small fraction of my attempts would be successful.
How on earth would I get anyone to accredit/authenticate/certify this mumbo-jumbo I am producing ?
Answer: don't think you can do it with out the source code and an understanding of why it is written the way it is. Plus it's probably a copyright infringement to reverse engineer software.
Question: Is pressure an intensive or extensive property? Hey,
In chemical engineering, is pressure intensive (independent of the systems sixe) or extensive (dependent on the system size.
I think pressure should be extensive because if u reduce the size then it should increase the pressure...
However my text book "Chemical and Energy Process Engineering" by Sigurd Skogestad says its intensive.
Which one is it and why?
Answer: It is a bit difficult, because in some situations it does depend on system size...BUT for those situations, let's just say other factors come in to play.
Pressure when being classified, is done for simple containers with a system having uniform properties.
I'd argue that it is intensive.
Which has more pressure?
A used gallon milk bottle filled with background air or a used 1 pint soda bottle filled with background air?
If the answer is zero for both because you think in gauge pressure, consider taking both containers from sea level to aircraft cruising altitude. Which container now has more pressure?
Question: uses of prarllel processing system in engineering?
Answer: I think you're talking about quantum and DNA computers, right?
Well, their main benefit is that because the processor can do things that usually take years for computers now to do- it'll take them just days. For instance, cryptography is a big field that would benefit from the increased power. Also, atoms can change states much faster than today's processor can, allowing calculations to be done so much faster.
Also, because each atom in a quantum computer can be used as a processor, 1000 atoms would allow for 1000 processor- while being 10X smaller than today's processors!
Go to www.howstuffworks.com- they have lots more info on the subject.
Question: Questions for those who think we never landed on the moon? In order to convince any intelligent, worldly people that the moon landings were a hoax, please provide us with an intelligent answer to the following, or go and find someone who can, for instance a systems engineer or integrator.
Yes it is possible to shoot the moon landings in the desert, more so in the last 10 years, but perhaps not so convincingly in the 1960s. However, please describe the processes by which you would integrate the film production into the systems at Houston control, so that the 150 or so controllers there are fooled for the seven years of the Apollo program.
Did you not know that in the 1960s, you could not do “real time” systems integration of any kind. To put a system into the monitors of Houston control such that for 7 years the controllers were unwittingly seeing a simulation of moon shots rather than the real thing, you would need to bring down all the systems for some time, and you would have to do it repeatedly until you got the scam correct.
Anyone who has ever been involved in the installation of a complex computer system will know that you need a long testing schedule, and it never (I repeat, never) works first time without any monumental hitches.
When would a team of IT professionals and engineers do this such that 150 controllers were unaware? How could they make the simulation so foolproof that over 7 years, very often 24 hours a day (three shifts), the controllers never became aware that they were not watching the real thing? How would they ensure that every second of each moon shot (it took days to get there) was synchronised to look like the real thing, bearing in mind that just one little hiccup in the system would be picked up immediately by the controllers.
Hopefully now you will see that you and nobody else can answer these questions because the whole notion of the moon landings being a hoax is far far beyond any kind of sense at all. But if you are still not convinced, please go and get some experts to provide a mechanism for the surreptitious integration of moon landings simulation software into the systems at Houston for the duration of the Apollo program.
Answer: its fascinating how many people are constantly challenging what occurred in history..be it that the holocaust never existed, or that the US never landed on the moon.
What is more fascinating is how many people mistrust that which is told to them as fact. I lived through the era of the space race and moon landings. i saw launches in Florida; read the newspapers, and lived with the dreams and sometimes the tragedy's of spaceflight. for something that just didn't happen, well they sure put a lot of effort into for a lie.
personally, I believe it happened. If another doesn't, well i ain't going to stay up nights worrying about it.
Question: What's is the more formal name of green engineering? There's a discipline of engineering which focuses on streamlining industrial machines, pipes, processes and suchlike, but I can't recall the name. It sounded something like systems engineering or control engineering. But I don't think these are it.
EDIT: I think it was Forbes that ran an article on this green engineering, as yet no right answers. Maybe I should return to the library to look up the article...
Answer: Civil engineering maybe? Civil engineers have all sorts of different specific disciplines, but I don't know if that's the one you're talking about.
Could it be environmental or industrial engineering?
EDIT: i found an article on forbes.com...
http://www.forbes.com/business/2007/07/02/environment-economy-jobs-biz_cx_bw_0703green_greenjobs.html
is that what you were looking at? maybe you can find it in there.
Question: If the evolution theory defies God, who created the incredible process of evolution and thus life? If Darwin’s theory of evolution defies existence of God, and gives the credit of creation of life and universe, to coincidence and chance, then who created the evolution process and determines that it survives? Now as Darwin’s theory (which says that live began with creation of cell by chance and then the process of evolution took over) is being questioned because in Darwin’s time, when there were no technologies like microscope, genetics engineering etc a living cell could be perceived like a grain of sand, simple enough to be created by chance. Now technology tells us that it is far more complicated and possesses genes, digestive system, Nervous system etc, to be alive, and requires precise and perfect ingenuity for its creation and certainly cannot be created by coincidence.
Extension of question. Natural selection gives rise to a concept that Nature works that way so subconsciously we humans should follow nature and that superior nations and beings should try to eradicate and use the inferior beings till they extinct. Holocaust, slavery, monopolist, racism, Political dominance over the world may be a result the concept of survival is for the fittest. While no one seems to portray sense of equality, tolerance, compassion towards poor and suffering & live and let live etc. Why people like Hitler were firm believers in Natural dominance of species which he considered himself and cultivated human farms to populate Germans, while eradicating innocent Jews who he thought were lower species. It seems to me that compassion and equality are only portrayed by those who consciously or subconsciously believe in one Higher being or a creator of everything. see Darwin's Theory of Evolution - A Theory In Crisis, para in the site: www.darwins-theory-of-evolution.com
Answer: Simple...God created all things...including evolution.

Question: How do you choose what type of engineering you want to do? How did you decide upon your field of engineering?
My interests lie with computers, cars, radios, communication systems, airplanes, etc. This is driving me crazy because I can't settle upon one branch. I'm stuck between mechanical and electrical engineering.
Is there any process or red flags that I should/shouldn't choose any one of these?
Answer: "Mechatronics Engineering" will best fit for you, because it's about both Electrical-Electronic engineering and Mechanical engineering. It deals with Automation of machines, Automatic Control of processes , Robotics, and so forth. This is the most modern field these days in fact, and your interests sound meet this field.
Wish you the best of luck.

Question: For Collins submarine project, would an object be only as strong as its weakest point ? <)
A/Yes, it very could have. A bad system is a major problem no matter where you are, if anything in it isn't on par, things can only go wrong. An object is only as strong as its weakest point.>>
(insight by )
Answer: Any object, can be defined in levels of strength. For example: A door that is well locked can keep out intruders. But the door itself is only as strong as the weakest point. (e.g. in most cases the hinges or weakest hinge) This also applies to buildings, vehicles, and the human body. (This is more than applicable to a submarine or the system, in an effort to computerize it.)
Question: i need information about neural networks fuzzy logics hybrid systems? im an Engineering undergraduate and im going to start a project related to color based food processing (for eg sorting of tea,coffie ..ect)
there i need to classify colors of food particals, recognice impurities and reject them
so i need to know how to buid a Fuzzy controller , implement a neural network and details of hybrid systems.
i have basic knoledge of nural and fuzzy systems and im very poor in practical knoledge
so please be kind enough to give me a full details of above systems and relevent links pdf...
i will be greateful if u can send me a mail to
windanajith@yahoo.com
thank you!
Answer: I have worked with neural networks and I think I kept overtraining my system - this was 12 years ago.
The technology has improved - try looking up relevant papers at the library. You need to know some EE in order to build a fuzzy controller - talk to your EE friends for some advice and support.
There is not one PDF link which will solve your problem - you will have to spend time and even money to obtain success. Good luck to you.

Question: what will be the future of using opensource frameworks for developing enterprise software systems? I am curious to find out about the future of open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Struts .... it is a true fact that those help a lot for the Software Engineers but there will be a never ending learning process for every IT professional since they are rapidly changing and new frameworks are been developed fast. Will there be an age that we do not need Software guru's to solve our problems and we can develop our own software solutions ..... ???
Answer: Depends who you want to believe. I suppose that eventually, software as we understand it won't exist; machines will function in a method much closer to the way biological creatures learn.
Of course, we biological beings need doctors, veterinarians and botanists to keep us alive, and in the end, even they fail. Probably the same will always be true of machines.

Question: in launching of space shuttle why we count down from 1000 to 0 and why not count up from 0 to 1000? i think it is related to mechatronics (mechanical + electronics)only.as binary code is not being used in this process as we are using grey code systems for that purpose now days.i want an answers related to mechatronics or that code systems only.answers from engineering point of view.
Answer: "we"?
They, the launch controllers, could count 0 to 1000 if they wanted. And they do NOT count 1000 to 0, they count minutes and seconds to blastoff.
The direction is purely arbitrary and has nothing to do with mechatronics. In fact, if you asked the launch controller/manager what mechatronics is, all you would get is a puzzled look.

Question: does anyone know specific parametrs of the manufacture of chocolate? i am in the process to get my degree as automation systems engineer.
so my thesis subject is to make a plc(programmable logic controller)programm for the manufacture of milk chocolate,so i dont only need just theory about manufacturing chocolate but details
for example:how long does every part takes?(grinding-mixing-conching etc etc)
proper temperature??
what exactly happends in the conching phases????
i know my question is a little dificult
thanks in advance
thanks to user t
i have seen this site already.
i do need to find these parametres ,i really dont care if is exactly the accurate parametres,
its going to be a virtual represantation of the procedure i ll just use them for the thesis.
a range of each parametr will be more usefull.
example:as you said conching at gourmet takes more time that the plain
so the range of conching is from 48 hours to seven days
what if conching's temperature is 25'C or 90'C
i hope you understand what i mean
however,thanks for the answer :D
Answer: http://www.fieldmuseum.org/Chocolate/making.html
This site does a good job of explaining the process. The times vary with the quality of the chocolate being produced. That is why times are given in a range instead of exacts. The longer the conching time the smoother the chocolate. Gourmet chocolates have been conched longer than chocolate used in a grocery store candy bar.
It didn't give temperatures in the explanation. Temperature comes into play most with tempering the chocolate. In our store we use the following temperatures.
Milk Chocolate warmed to 107 F, cooled to 86 F, and back up to 90 F. Now it is ready to use for candy. If you don't work with it at the proper temperature(Temper) it will bloom.
We use slightly different temperatures for white and dark chocolate.
Best of luck to you.
Question: introduction to engineering vs foundation of engineering? I am trying to decide which course to take.
I am going to be a freshman in college and would like to major in some sort of engineering. I am good at math, so can someone tell me which course would be best for me and what type of engineering should i choose.
here are the course description the university gives:
introduction to engineering
An introduction to the practice of engineering design, the
creative process, reverse engineering, use of hand tools,
and the diverse career paths within engineering. This
course is intended for engineering students and other
students interested in understanding the fundamentals
of engineering and considering engineering as a possible
profession.
Foundation of engineering
Introduction to the engineering profession, ethics, and
disciplines; development of skills in teamwork, problem
solving and design; other topics include computer applications
and programming; visualization, orthographic draw-
ings and CAD tools; introduction to electrical circuits,
semiconductor devices, digital logic, communications
and their application in systems; Newton’s laws, unit
conversions, statistics, Excel; basic graphics skills. Corequisite:
MATH 2413.
Answer: intro to engineering sounds like an easy A class that may be a bit boring.
foundation of engineering sounds like a tougher class where they will teach you a bunch of stuff that you may or may not need depending on the engineering degree that you end up pursuing.
I would personally choose the tougher yet more interesting and useful class (foundation).
Question: 7 1/2 months pregnant- should I go on the interview? I graduated in December with my M.S. in Systems & Engineering Management. Shortly before graduation, I found out I was pregnant, so I declined job offers out of state because my fiance and I decided to stay in Amarillo to be near family, etc. I had been aggressively job searching here, but kept coming up with dead ends. Last year, I did an internship at Bell Helicopter, and when I applied there they were excited to have me back, but unfortunately halfway through the application process the position was closed due to cutbacks in the budget. At that point, I decided I should just wait to start my career until after the baby is born (July 3rd). Today however, I got a phone call from HR saying the position has been relisted and they encouraged me to apply. I am at this point 7 1/2 months pregnant, so is it unprofessional to get hired and only work about 2 months before taking time off? Should I just wait til the baby is born? They do not know I am pregnant right now. Any advice?
I plan on taking the typical 6 weeks maternity leave. The reason they reopened the position is because someone in the department is transferring, so they now have 3 openings and are far too short-handed. As this is the case, I believe they want to fill the position as quickly as possible and I fear that it will not still be an option after the baby is born. Additionally, the engineering jobs in Amarillo are limited, and I'm afraid if I don't accept I'll be stuck in the same position I have been for the last 4 months with no options... but still, I don't want management to look at me negatively and feel burdened by hiring me.
Answer: As long as you are feeling good and up to the interview, go for it. Once you walk in, it will no longer be a secret, so you don't need to be worried about being secretive about the pregnancy. Let them deal with the fact that you will be there for 2 months before taking time off. It happens all the time, so it isn't such a big deal to the employer. You should make a point during the interview to let them know that you absolutely will be returning to work full-time after the baby is born and that you had considered waiting to interview until then, but you didn't want to miss out on this opportunity. This could be considered a bit under-handed, but if you are as qualified as the other candidates, they might be afraid NOT to hire you i.e. fear of a discrimination lawsuit. This is one of those situations where there isn't a set way to handle it - sincerity and honesty would work best.
All the best to you!
Question: How is graduate study in Electrical Engineering? I have a question about Power systems, VLSI, Robotics, and Signal Processing!
I know you have to work hard in all of them, but which on of these Electrical Engineering fields is more challenging?
I mean at graduate school level!
Does anyone have a clue?
I am more of a math oriented than programming, even though I know just so little about programming!
In short, I love Math!
Answer: Signal Processing, and anything in communications, will be heavily math intensive (more so than the others).
I will be starting graduate work in power systems next year. From what I've learned about it so far, it will be as challenging as you want to make it (the more you put in, the more you'll get out!).
VLSI I've heard is also a challenging field.

Question: intro to chemical engineering.single phase systems? Hot dry nitrogen flows through a process unit that contains liquid acetone. A substantial portion of the acetone vaporizes and is carried off by the nitrogen. The combined gases leave the recovery unit at 220 Celsius and 1.1 bars and enter a condenser in which a portion of the acetone is liquefied. The remaining gas leaves the condenser at 10 Celsius and 40 bars. The partial pressure of acetone in the feed to the condenser is 0.110 bar, and that in the effluent gas from the condenser is 0.133 bar. Assume ideal gas behavior.
Calculate for a basis of 1 m3 of gas fed to the condenser the mass of acetone condensed (Kg) and the volume of gas leaving the condenser (m3).
Suppose the volumetric flow rate of the gas leaving the condenser is 20.0 m3/h. Calculate the rate (Kg/h) at which acetone is vaporized in the solvent recovery unit.
Answer: Acetone = 58.08 g/mol
Nitrogen = 14.0067 g/mol
Condenser influent
---------------------------
220 C @ 1.1 bar (combined gas)
T = 220º C
T = 220º C + 273.15
T = 493.15 K
P = 1.1 bar
P = 110,000 Pa + 101,325 Pa
P = 211,325 Pa, absolute
Pi, partial pressure of acetone = 0.110 bar
Pi = 11,000 Pa + 101,325 Pa
Pi = 112,325 Pa, absolute
R = 8.314472 J/K·mol
n = PV/RT
n = ( 211,325 Pa )( 1 m³ )/( 8.314472 J/K·mol )( 493.15 K )
n = 51.539 mol
Acetone mass in influent
-----------------------------------
(from acetone mole fraction within influent)
Xi = Pi/P
Xi = 112,325 Pa / 211,325 Pa
Xi = 0.53153
mi = n Xi Mi
mi = ( 51.539 mol )( 0.53153 mol acetone/total mol )( 58.08 g/mol )
mi = 1591 g
mi = 1.591 kg
Crosscheck...
mi = ( Mi Pi V ) / ( R T )
mi = ( 58.08 g/mol )( 112,325 Pa )( 1 m³ ) / ( 8.314472 J/K·mol )( 493.15 K )
mi = ( 1591 g )( 1 kg / 1000 g )
mi = 1.591 kg
Condenser effluent
--------------------------
10 C @ 40 bar (combined gas)
T = 10º C
T = 10º C + 273.15
T = 283.15 K
P = 40 bar
P = 4,000,000 Pa + 101,325 Pa
P = 4,101,325 Pa, absolute
Pi = 0.133 bar
Pi = 13,300 Pa + 101,325 Pa
Pi = 114,625 Pa, absolute (partial pressure of acetone)
Effluent acetone mole fraction
-------------------------------------------
Xi = Pi/P
Xi = 114,625 Pa / 4,101,325 Pa
Xi = 0.02795
Acetone condensate
------------------------------
ΔXi = influent - effluent
ΔXi = 0.53153 - 0.02795
ΔXi = 0.50358
mi = ( 51.539 mol )( 0.50358 moles acetone/total moles )( 58.08 g/mol )
mi = 1507 g
mi = 1.507 kg
Moles Effluent
---------------------
n = influent - condensate
n = 51.539 mol - ( 51.539 mol )( 0.50358 moles acetone/total moles )
n = 51.539 mol( 1 - 0.50358 moles acetone/total moles )
n = 51.539 mol( 0.49642 )
n = 25.585 mol
Effluent Volume
-----------------------
V = nRT/P = ( 25.585 mol )( 8.314472 J/K·mol )( 283.15º K ) / ( 4,101,325 Pa )
V = 0.0147 m³
Mass flow of Acetone
-------------------------------
Q = 20 m³/hr
From above, for every 1 m³, 1.591 kg of acetone vaporized
into the condenser's influent stream
m' = ( 1.591 kg/m³ )( 20 m³/hr )
m' = 31.8 kg/hr
Answers
------------
acetone condensate = 1.507 kg (round off 1.5 kg)
condenser discharge volume = 0.0147 m³ (round off 0.015 m³)
acetone vaporization rate = 31.8 kg/hr (round off 32 kg/hr)

Question: What would you call the college major that working on/building electronics fits into? I've been into taking apart electronics/putting together electronics, repairing friends broken video game systems, modifying electronics, etc.
I'm curious as to what this would fit under in college. I am in the process of applying to colleges, and I'm currently looking at majoring in Communications, and minoring, or taking a double major in whatever this stuff is called.
is it Electrical Engineering? Computer Engineering?
Answer: I may take some flak for this. But if it is called Electrical Engineering, that is only because the name has been devalued. When I went to school that was called being a technician.
An Electrical Engineer has studied a considerable amount of AC and DC circuit theory, Fourier and Laplace transforms, RF and microwave techniques, basic chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering,
thermodynamics, civil engineering, calculus etc. as well general college electives like english, sociology, psych etc. just to get the B.S. degree. At my undergrad school, engineers needed more credits to graduate than other majors.
When I left high school, I may have thought I knew a lot about engineering, but I did not. and 55 years later, i have finally gotten to the point that I know i don't know a lot about it. (I had, and maybe still have some ego problems :~) )
My point is that if you don't want to work hard coming up with new ideas and solving difficult problems, even losing an occasional night's sleep, don't become an engineer. BUT if you if you could enjoy that challenge, you might look forward to going to work every day of your life.

Question: Enthalpy and heat addition? Hello! This forum has happily given me success in the past, so I ask again for a bit of assistance!
I'm a process engineer who deals mainly with mechanical problems - so this is slightly outside my normal realm.
I am adding water to a hot gas process in order to change the properties of the air. The water will completely convert to steam, and the pressure will be maintained by the induced draft system.
I'm making some horribly rash assumptions with regard to all the water being heated to the boiling point (it's going into very hot, very dry air with water-absorbing particulate... hence the rash assumption) - but how do I correctly calculate the amount of heat absorbed by heating the steam from the boiling point to the end temperature? I can look up the enthalpies of various steam systems, but I want to have a J absorbed per kg H2O added figure for the portion of heat absorbed between boiling and final temperature.
Any help would be appreciated!
Ben.
Thank you!
I got the three parts, thank you.
I'm asking about the last part.
It's been awhile since I was in Thermodynamics, and can't remember how enthalpy works - which I think might be the key.
This air will not be close to being saturated, and the temp is well above the boiling point, so I'm using numbers for superheated steam.
a) Why do I find values for Cv (labelled specific heat), and Cp (also labelled specific heat), both with J/gK units?
b) Are there other factors I need to use to find out how much heat absorbtion is taking place?
Thanks again!
Ben.
Answer: Not sure exactly if this is giving you the information you want, but here's what I think you're after.
You need to do this in 3 parts:
1.) Heating the water from whatever it's temperature is when added to it's boiling point (if it's under pressure, it's boiling point will be higher than 100C, so account for that). that is the specific heat of water: 4.186 kJ/kg*K
2.) the boiling/vaporization of the water. turning into steam takes a heat of vaporization of 2260kJ/kg
3) heating the steam to whatever the final temperature is requires the specific heat of steam, about 2000 kJ/kg*K (though I think that may depend on pressure too, as I got web results from 1860 to 2100).
add those three steps and you find the total kJ/kg

Question: How to become business analyst with having work experience 4.5 yrs in IT industry? Hello,
I've 4.5 yrs of work experience in IT, after working as Systems Engineer, SQL DBA and little programming skills for all these years i would like to start my new career with Business Analyst. Can you guys let me know what all i need to do to achieve this ?
Like - Are there any courses available in and around Seattle (i live in Redmond) ?
what's the process for certifications.
Regarding the courses or cetifications i would like to do is .. after completing the course or/and certification, i should get a job as BA, that's my goal. Any information would be really helpful. Thanks
Have a great day !
Answer: Hello. I assume by business analyst, you mean in the Investment Banking industry. Honestly, I think you are making a great decision since this career, like management consulting, can really make you rich and have financial freedom, and I mean really really rich.
To start off, I would recommend interning at a bank just to see if this is something you really would like to pursue. If it is, you have two choices. 1. You can become a business analyst, however not have much room for growth and salary. or 2. You could get an MBA from a nice school, apply as a business associate, and make a lot more money
Question: Australia skills list and visa help? further to my earlier message:
I have found both my husbands and my occopations on ASCO and MODL but cant remember where
his is 921111 ENGINEERING PRODUCTION PROCESS WORKER or 712311 ENGINEERING PRODUCTION SYSTEMS WORKER. He is pot room technician helps in process of smeltering. We have applied for a position for him at Rio Tinto if successfull we will request they sponsor him.
My position is identified as & 712311 on ASRI its Personnel Consultant 2291-13. identicle to my job here in uk.
It doesnt look like any visa would match for us to be able to emigrate unless Employer sponsors. Can anyone confirm this is right please?
After many online points testing it looks like a no go for us unless hubby manages to get the position he applied for at Rio Tinto or Alcoa agreed to sponsorship request/ Labour agreements.
I understand Australians may be frustrated at overseas employees taking up positions however, my hubby is in a highly skilled position for 10 years with a company that is a uk employer with operations in Australia. Surely his skills and the fact he is able to Train Australians to the appropriate standard counts for something!.. we will have to wait and see. Many overseas workers are living i our community here in UK o secondment then manage to obtain permanet residence here.
Answer: Since May 2009, only occupations in ASCO major groups 1 to 4 are eligible for Australian migration and the ASCO classifications you've identified for your husband are in major groups 7 and 9.

The MODL was scrapped last week effective immediately for any new applications so the point is moot, but there is no way that either of your occupations was ever on it anyway. At present, Personnel Consultant 2291-13 is on the SOL and is eligible, but it is most unlikely to still be on there on the new SOL which will be released on April to take effect from 1st July .
If you can pass the points test now based on your occupation, that would be the way to go because the points test is also changing and is likely to become much more difficult to pass for people in many occupations. If you pass now, now would be the time to apply.
At present, employers can only nominate occupations on the SOL, but some of the Minister's pronouncements last week and FAQs issued at the time indicated that that may no longer be the case. I can't see it myself as that would open the door to unskilled employer sponsored migration and I'm positive that our unions would be furious if that were allowed, but that's certainly what has been indicated so far. See Q11 on the following:

Question: Can someone look at my report? I've typed a report on civil engineering, but its not complete. Can anyone take a look at what I have so far?
Simply put, civil engineers design things. To distinguish civil engineering from other fields though, civil engineers are responsible of the planning, constructing, and managing of infrastructure, which is “the system of public works of a country, state, or region…required for an activity” and meeting several governmental and environmental standards. Because of this, civil engineering projects require experts from multiple fields, which is why civil engineering is made of many sub-disciplines. These include architectural, earthquake, environmental, structural, and geotechnical. Nevertheless, four requirements need to be met before becoming a civil engineer.
First, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science needs to be acquired to even begin the process of licensure. Next, an exam called “Fundamentals of Engineering”, which consists of 180 math, physics, and chemistry intensive questions, would have to be taken. At this point, some civil engineers can get a job as a patent attorney. However, for those who wish to be professional engineer, where the main difference is the authority to take legal responsibility of documents, they must undergo an apprenticeship of about four years. Afterwards, the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam will have to be passed based on the decision of a selected committee. Finally, one can be truly considered a civil engineer. However, the job itself as a civil engineer must be examined to get the best overall picture.
Civil engineering is not exactly the highest paying career with a salary ranging from $54,520 to $86,260, but being a civil engineer entails certain things that are exclusive to this career. The field has a prospective future and a lower risk of being laid off. The most important positive, though, is the ability to have an immense sense of purpose after successfully completing a project.
Answer: Well, the overall structure of the essay is sound as befitting an engineer;however, there are some stylistic gaps and unintelligible sentences which mar its aesthetics as well as its delivery.
In the first paragraph: 2nd sentence is so cumbersome it barely works and the infinitive phrase " to distinguish" dangles. Who is "distinguishing and how? civil engineering is distinguished from other design careers like
commercial art in that civil engineers are responsible for the planning, constructing, and managing of infrastructure, which is the " system of public works of a country, state or region...required of an activity." ( is this a quote that needs a reference?) . Additionally, these projects must meet county, state and federal government requirements as regards construction standards as well as environmental regulations.
Because of this, civil engineering consists of many sub-disciplines requiring expertise from multiple fields such as architecture,
seismology, environmental science, structural physics, geotechnology.
Nevertheless (?) wrong word here!, there are four steps to becoming a civil engineer.
etc. etc.
However, for those who wish to be ".... this needs to be rewritten??? or further explained ??? unintelligible to me. ???
Also, is the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam an oral exam??? what is this selected committee have to do with anything?
How about:
"Finally, with all these aforementioned hurdles passed, one can be truly considered a civil engineer. The next sentence is awkward : How about: "However, there is more to the picture than these bare bones as one
takes on the identity of a professional civil engineer.
And as a humanities major I'd throw in a sentence at the end.
"Plus, as a final perk, how many people can take their child in their arms, point out a bridge, a building, a dam, or a canal and say, " Your Daddy built that." but that is my ending and not yours so stick with yours.
