Question: Could you help for correcting my English? When all the mould trials were successes, we required suppliers to carry out the tests of lines, which mean that run the full day production (FDPR) simulating the real conditions and procedures. I took charge of signing master samples and changing designs of the part or sub-assemble dimensions which interfered to the processes. Also, a FDPR was conducted internally in our factory by me with the process engineer and the production quality assurance engineer after the FDPR in suppliers’ sites were finished and audited. I sent the initial samples produced by the FDPR to the laboratory which was authorized in advance for necessary experiments, then, I assessed the test results. After that, we held a conference with customer purchasing engineers and project manager, on which we explained our changes of design, standard and process in the project stage in detail. Finally, the customer approved all the changes and master samples.
PS: Is this short sentence right?
significantly saved the time cost of subsequent dimension report evaluation.
This action can significantly saved the time cost of subsequent evaluation of report.
Answer: When all of the mould trials were successful, we required the suppliers to carry out line tests, which mean that a full-day production (FDPR) was ran, simulating actual conditions and procedures. I oversaw the signing of master samples and design changes in regards to the sub-assembly dimensions which interfered with the process. Also, an FDPR was conducted internally in our factory by me with the process engineer and the production quality assurance engineer after the FDPR supplier's sights were finished and audited. I sent the initial samples produced by the FDPR to the laboratory which was pre-authorized for necessary experiments, then I assessed the test results. Later, we held a conference with the customer purchasing engineers and the project manager, to whom we explained our design changes, process standard details during the production stage. Finally, the customer approved the changes and the master samples.
EDIT: The short sentence is not a complete sentence and therefore is not correct. It is difficult to understand what you are trying to say so I cannot help you with that one.
EDIT #2:
---This method can save a significant amount of money in the time it would take for future evaluation reports.
(So, if you are saying that this new way of doing things will save time, resulting in lowering cost, that would be the right way to say it. Again, since I don't know what you are specifically talking about, I can only speculate as to what you are trying to say).
Question: Why do quality engineers think that building a faulty product exactly the same each time is good? If you don't work in the industry, that question may sound goofy to you. I'll explain:
"Quality" seems to be defined as a process where you build each product exaclty the same as the prototype. Every part, every torque on every bolt is exactly the same and the huge paperwork which accompanies this process makes sure that it is done so.
Product failures keep occuring over and over again, exactly the same.
Thats "quality " as defined for government work.
Amerson, that's a good description of precise vs. accurate. What I'm looking for however, is why this industry fails to correct this problem. I've worked in various companies and they all have the same issue. Once a product is tested and qualified, if you find an error, you aren't allowed to changed it (unless you want to go through forty thousand dollars of testing again with the correct change.)
1. Those O-rings on the shuttle that blew up had hundreds of pieces of paper associated with them with the word "Qualtiy" written on them.
2. A large computer company I worked for had circuits which violated FCC noise regulations. But it was "Qualified" so they thought they weren't allowed to correct it.
3. Several Products I've worked on for space and for airlines were "qualified" before all the bugs were worked out. Again, that paper with the word "Quality" is more important that a product which actually works!
to oil field trash: Actually I know very well the difference between the two. That is the essence of this question. It's the industry regulators which seem to confuse the words quality and reliability. and my question is, "Why".
Answer: lool , its about precise & accuracy
you know if u hit some targets & the bullets r not spread around the center equally , i mean they where concentrated in same area that is good coz its precise , but if it happens that the area the bullets concentrated in is far from the target , it will be precise but not accurate.
also if u hit them & they r spread around the target where it forms its center but the differences r big i.e they r not concentrated together , thats bad coz its accurate but not precise
accordingly there is neither nor accurate or precise , or both which is the best.
In Statistical engineering terms
being accurate is about having a mean (x) around the avg expected mean
being precise is having lower standard of deviation (S) , & variance (V)
so if in my field for example a contractor has lower stand. of deviation thats good , coz his mistakes will be clear if he misses , or when he does the job the right way the tolerances will be fine.
coz in real life u cant have a margin of +/- 100% , we just accept 5 or even -/+ 10% @ most.
hope this helps
Edit:
About why i think u answered it , they dont wanna take the extra cost of retesting & also avoiding lots of paper works , regulations & red-tape.... also if u correct the defected u enter an open loop , so being counted as defected & trashing it , sounds easier..... anyway i dunno why i keep up with u , u sound already having huge experience u r just upset a little :) , i guess i will keep checking this answer to learn....
Question: Which IT course is better? Also, can you guys please give me their advantages and disadvantages. Here are the choices:
BS Computer Science with specialization in Computer Systems Engineering
The Computer System Engineering (CSE) program combines a computer science curriculum with selected subjects in computer engineering, combining synergistically the power of digital computers with analog electronics, electromechanical systems and computer software. Curriculum tracks specializing in embedded systems, mobile robotics, digital signal processing, and system automation are offered. With these, students in this program gain the knowledge of developing application-specific computer-based systems, with emphasis on real-time systems and automation. Computer System Engineering graduates can pursue careers as microprocessor systems designers, embedded system engineers, test engineers, and system software developers. Possessing excellent hard and soft skills, CSE graduates are ready to be productive individuals in the IT and allied industries.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Specialization in Software Technology (CS-ST)
The Software Technology program prepares students to become mature software engineers and researchers. The program trains students in the discipline of software engineering, focusing on the design of efficient, reliable, and quality software products. ST students are capable of doing research. Early on in their academic life, students are encouraged to explore their research interests and discover innovative technology that will help shape the future of Computer Science Research. The program provides the necessary background for students to pursue graduate studies.
At the end of the 3rd year, ST students will begin developing their thesis project. Students in a group of four conceptualize and develop complex software system, in which they will defend at the end of the 4th year.
The quality of the student's thesis has met and sometimes exceeded the standards of the local computing industry. Many organizations have even expressed commendation for the students' thesis. In June 1998, four ST students entered their thesis project in the DOST-sponsored Search for Product Excellence in Information Technology. The group bagged the first prize, taking home a total of one million pesos.
In the field of artificial intelligence, several thesis projects involving strategic games have been developed. For instance, GenWars is an undergraduate thesis project that is similar to existing strategy games like Warcraft, Command and Conquer, and Red Alert. However, in GenWars, different characteristics, such as life, stamina, and fighting skills, are used as basis for overall strength. It also simulates psychological characteristics such as obedience, camaraderie, wisdom, bravery, and hiding abilities. The sequence is dependent on game situations and is not predictable or periodic like in the usual strategy games.
Long Story, short:
The first choice focuses on the software and the Platform of the computer itself.... So yeah, and the second choice is about making games.
I'm fine with both, but can anyone give me their advantages and disadvantages. Possible pays for both if I get hired, stuff like that.
Thanks!!!
Answer: If you learn the fundamentals of computer science you can easily transition into game programming. Unless you are a programming rockstar you are probably not going to get a job as a game developer as a lot of people want those jobs. Get the more practical degree and learn to program games on the side or in addition to that degree. You will get paid a lot either way as long as you are good at it.
Question: what do you think of this music essay? Rate me A,B,C,D,F. i have already posted this but now i am finished, im an 8th grader and my teacher asked us questions of a career and she told us to write an essay. help yourself to giving me criticism.
Music Producer
By: Karen Sandoval
The two professions I considered were working as a publicist or a music producer. a publicist generates and manages publicity for someone like a celebrity, or for a work like a book or film. A music producer is the creative leader of any studio, film, television or radio recording project. Though these choices are both very good careers I have chosen music producing. I have chosen this career because it would be fun working with music and making a new sound. I do know that it takes a lot of work, like being on a hectic schedule, dealing with budget pressures, and finishing a song on time.
Some reasons for my choice are that I would get to work with some musicians, and making someone’s dream of maybe becoming the next biggest hit. A music producer needs to be a people person, be a charismatic person, and to be able to relate well to your recording artists. I would also enjoy it being remunerative, but I would need to work hard to do so. If I have to I could get things done and organized quickly. I love music but it would a challenge to open up my imagination, and be creative in order to keep coming up with songs, as a result of being on a hurried schedule.
Music producers assure that a project stays within budget, secure a studio time, aid artists in choosing songs to record and help give them a quality performance, help audio engineers in the mixing, mastering, and recording process. Managing a high school band, writing some songs, experience in playing a instrument would all be really good experiences for becoming a music producer. Music club, band, orchestra, performing arts would be good clubs in high school, but it is not mandatory. Music production, Musical History and Theory, Composition, Songwriting, Ear Training, Copyright Law, Finance and Marketing, Entrepreneurship
course would be helpful for up incoming music producers. All these things would be a good preparation for people who want to be music producers.
Ultimately, becoming a music producer would be a good career for me, because I would be able to work on the things I love and benefit from it also. Music producers have an important job in the recording industry, second only to the artists themselves. Music producers oversee all aspects of a recording session to the financial matters and everything in between.

Answer: How to Make a Resume
Introduction:
The following free tips will give you some guidance on how to make a resume. But keep in mind that these free tips are just guidelines. Everyone's background is different so there's no single formula on how to make a resume that fits all cases. So use these tips to guide your thought process but trust your own common sense on how to handle specific issues when you make your own resume. Keep in mind that you only have 30 seconds to make a good impression with your resume so don't miss your opportunity.
How to make a resume:
Here's how to make a resume that will get you noticed:
Before you write the first word of your resume, determine the position and industry you want to target. Then make an outline of your presentation and fill in the details of your background. Make sure you keep the focus on your target.
Avoid the functional resume format. Too many negatives associated with it (read about the problems with functional resumes).
The general rule for page length is 1-page for typical entry level college students and 2 pages for everyone else. There can be exceptions to this but the longer the resume, the less likely it will be read. So make sure your document is concise.
Don't include a picture of yourself unless you're in an industry that requires a photograph (e.g., TV, theatre, film).
Don't include personal information (marital status, children, date of birth, ethnicity) on a US style resume. Note that this information is generally acceptable when you make an international resume/CV.
Make sure to put your name on the first line at the top of your resume in a large font with your contact information immediately below it. Don't include cell phone or pager numbers.
Use a summary section "intro" on your resume to give the reader a brief picture of your background. Make this section very short and strong.
Include a bulleted list in the experience section of your resume to showcase your accomplishments. Make these statements short and strong. Use quantifiable information and action verbs.
Use a font size between 10 and 12 for the body text of your resume. Make sure to choose a font that's compatible with applicant tracking systems that many employers use.
If you have negative information in your background, try to avoid including it on your resume if you can. If you can't, then make sure you present it in a way that lessens the negative impact. For example, often older workers attempt to disguise their age by omitting their dates of employment and college graduation dates. This approach rarely fools anyone and can actually backfire by making the reader say to himself/herself: "If this candidate is worried about their age, maybe I should be worried about it, too". I recommend turning negative issues such as age into positives. Always try to figure out how to turn your lemons into lemonade.
Watch the tone of your resume. Make sure you don't write in an arrogant, pompous, or self-serving manner. You're going to have a tough time selling yourself to a prospective employer if he/she feels you're talking down to them.
Make sure your resume is accurate and be honest with what you say. It's OK to present yourself in the best light you can but an outright lie can hurt you later on if the truth comes out. It happens all the time.
Don't include salary information or your references on your resume document.
Once you've finalized your resume, make sure you make all the file conversions you will need in your job search. Other files you may need in addition to your word processed file include an ASCII .txt file for "cutting and pasting" into e-mail messages and posting on job boards, an Adobe .pdf file for sending as attached files, and an HTML file for putting your resume on a Web page.
Question: Is it time for the Prime Minister to recuse certain appointments due to conflict of interest ? and review the efficacy that existing and potential placements have on diplomatic policy and process. Rohitha has stated in the press that certain posts have been filled with "caretaker" diplomats until new corps can be trained but I wonder why there are newly created appointments at new venues staffed with persons without any diplomatic expertise and truly nepotistic connections? I would remind that for every overstep of power there is a remedy. When common sense is not a sensibility, a full accounting of diplomatic resources is neccesitated. This includes a full review of qualifications of the present and past diplomatic porfolio. I wither the thought of how some people achieved their thoughts on democratic diplomacy. Selective recollection of conversation is no excuse for prohibition of established procedures of good governance.

Just because we have had a protracted war on terrorism it does not mean that a fisticuff between and within the three branches is acceptable. I would hasten all those I spoke with to recall that the primary policy of Sri Lanka that was discussed was equal opportunity for growth, equal representation under the law, equal distribution of services, equal justice. I am sure that if a certain 24 year old son-in-law-to-be found himself party to an executable offense in the Middle East that the Foreign Ministry would be in an uproar, but I have to hear a query about 2 nationals that were executed yesterday. I am not commenting on Saudi legistlature, or the justice or injustice of such. My inquiry is rooted in the fact that the Ministry that oversees such affairs is apparently more interested in cocktail parties and junkets with golf club managers than it is in its citizens. The stability, policy and efficacy of a government cannot be based on whether the Chief Executive is in town. It cannot be based on created false tests to verify standards. It cannot be bantered or bartered about. I see much commendable development in Sri Lanka but future development will not be based on political posturing/jockeying it will be based on the fullfilment of the equitable goals to bring energy, quality education, due process, security and better quality of life to the many. It will not happen overnight and it cannot be fabricated, it must be grown-thus prefabrication is out of the question. There is no such thing as democracy-in-a-box, but the unruly behaviour that has spread throughout the world will be put in check, everywhere including Sri Lanka. What I am seeing in this article is the propogation of engineered foods, an item that is not a part of our domestic or foreign policy. The Ministries are to forward the National Policy not personal agenda. It is apparent that a National/International Policy Statement needs to be created by the Executive and the Cabinet. Line item #1 is to eliminate terrorism while maintaining sovreignity. Prior to making appointments consider the dis-appointments of misplaced placements. Furthermore, refrain from tete-a-tete's with foreign leaders in hotel rooms when there exists government accomodations for meetings that pertain to governmental affairs. Consider this my request to Nasheed for full divulgence to the Executive. Please pass my congratulations to Linda Spelenwade(sp?) my number is at the LA Consul and with the President's Secretary.
This is to be a time of national pride - I ask all our citizens to cloak yourselves in our national identity. Its our flag and our country.

Question: Need your valued advice....? whoooo
I am a mechanics designer in a midum company in china. I design the parts for handheld devices, such as mobile phones, professional radios and so forth. We design plastic parts, metal parts, the shapes of PCB . The assembling and disassembling process, manufacturing, quality . Engineering samples preparation, trial run following up,and so on.I've been working for over 7 years and I am really confused about my future of my career. Maybe because I'm quite experienced about this job, I found there's little real technowledge or technical chalenges. There's very few science or principles needed. Some times I even dult that we are not brainworkers, we're labors. We need work overtime very often in design phase. Ok, that's not the hard part. After the design, it's a difficult process to mass production. We need push the suppliers for tooling preparations, samples , even for orders . Yeah, it's the buyer's responsibility. But the bosses say it's yours, what will you do ?Sometimes we just have to be the supplier's to moniter the producing process to meet the time line of production. And sometimes we need go to fetch the parts, by bus. I'am really not sure whether I like this job, or just make a living. I know I am not the lowest paied, middle maybe, for this kind of job, I mean. But when you refer to jobs over the whole society, it's at the bottom. You know if you have so much complainment, you can't do that well, and everyone will find that. Also, it's getting over competed as we are still struggling and the new graduates increasingly join rapidly.
So I really need some directions.
How do I find new values from my job? How will I improve myself? What's the next upper level of my career? What should I do to be more competive? As I am getting older and I can't take longer overtime works.
Appreciate in advance. And nice day.

Question: Overall quality of life. NJ? NC? MA? Hello,
As a software engineer (signal processing algorithms) with experience in C#.NET, C and MATLAB and an interest in audio signals and algorithms, which of the following 3 states would you recommend to move to when it comes to overall quality of life? North Carolina, New Jersey or Massachusetts ? Why?
I am asking the question in this forum because I am looking for answers from fellow engineers who might happen to live in one of the states that I am inquiring about...
Answer: WRong forum - that's not an engineering question.
Question: Overall quality of life. MA, NJ or NC ? Hello,
As a software engineer (signal processing algorithms) with experience in C#.NET, C and MATLAB and an interest in audio signals and algorithms, which of the following 3 states would you recommend to move to when it comes to overall quality of life? North Carolina, New Jersey or Massachusetts ? Why?
Answer: North Carolina will have the lowest cost of living and you will have excellent access to a broad range of activities.
Question: What crime is committed by a contractor, if the building under construction collapses, killing many people? If construction materials used for erecting a multi-storeyed building are insufficient both in quality and quantity, then the whole structure collapses on it's weight, what would be the role or responsibility of; (a) The proprietor, (b) The contractor a.k.a Site Engineer, when the hired casual labourers and other technical staff involved lose their lives in the process?
Answer: Was the building being constructed in full accordance with the approved plans and specifications and all safety regulations?
If the answer is Yes, any fault or blame lies elsewhere.
If the building was not being constructed as designed, who, if anyone, approved the modifications? Were any approved modifications being done exactly as approved?
Were the materials supplied for the work also in accordance with the plans and specifications? Third-party suppliers have been known to supply substandard materials, such as Grade 50 rebar (reinforcing rods for concrete) when Grade 60 is specified.
Proper design is the responsibility of the Designer(s).
Proper construction in full accordance with all applicable regulations and the approved plans and specifications is teh responsibility of the Contractor.
Too many Owners feel it is their right and responsibility to try to save some money by authorizing modifications that an Engineer would never consider.
So any blame may lie in any of several places or combinations of places. That is probably not the answer you were looking for, but it is correct.
Question: Chemical Engineering?? I have to have a 6 page article read and summarized!! I cant find ne good sites that have articles on chemical engineering design, self regulation, teams of chemical engineering, quality, and the design process. Can ne one help out???? PLEASE PLEASE

Question: Is this ethical? Or did they have that coming? I got out of college at 22, and accepted a job in an assembly plant in the Quality department. The job put me in a position where I was responsible for anything that could go wrong; because I was new I accepted a very low salary for a job that should be paid a lot better. After the first year, I was graded as “Exceeded Expectations”, however, I got no raise. The next year, the plant expanded, and they opened up another process engineer position, but the guy they hired never did anything, he was just buck passer, he got along with the boss great, but I ended up doing all my work and his for a year. A year later, he got promoted above me. This time, I confronted my boss, and told her this was not right, she said she had to give the other guy a promotion because if it wasn’t for him, none of my projects would had been done on schedule. I hesitated before doing it, but I did. I quit, and I didn’t explain to anyone how to pick up from where I left off any of the projects.
Ex-coworkers were telling how everything was chaos. They had to hire 3 more engineers just to figure out where I left off, and pick up from there. I took them about 3 months to get all of the projects running again.
I still don’t regret it, would you?
Answer: nope. i did the same thing at my old job. low paying rihgt outta college and taken advantage of when it came to working overtime. they hired a new girl that barely had experience in the software and hardware used (im a graphic designer) when i left i heard that they had to work about a 70 hr week for the next 2-3 wks just to catch up, and their still swamped....hehehe....guess they realize what they had now :)

The types of jobs I have had vary from kitchen help, to porter, busboy, assembler, packer, cook, newspaper carrier, quality inspector, shipping and receiving, motel front desk, retail store sales associate, and after graduating from college with a Bachelor's degree, a Process Engineer, and Project Engineer.
My favorite job so far is the Project Engineering job because I'm getting paid the highest plus it is very challenging and non-repetitive since there are a thousand things that need work.
My least favorite job was the porter job - pulling carts at a store in the freezing winter. It was terrible those days.
Answer: I started washing dishes at a restaurant when I was 13. I bussed tables, cooked, served and bartended. I also worked in an auto glass shop.
After college I was an accountant for insurance co's and am now an insurance broker.
The best job thus far was the accountancy work. I didn't major in the field, but I leaned a ton and was pretty good at it considering.
Worst job was serving at an italian restaurant where the owner was a phsycopath.
All tolled I had probably 15-20 different jobs.
Question: Transducer engineer? I need a high frequency sound making device in excess of 130db. It doesn't need to be high quality sound (i.e. high fidelity, low noise/ distortion) for any sort of commercial application. I have a few options so far;
-Building one myself from piezoceramic.
-Buying an electronics kit to make a "box", which can do this.
-Buy an industrial processing/sonochemistry/liquid metals atomization transducer in piezoceramic or a magnetostrictive material eg. neodymium, terfenol-d.
-Having a whistle custom built by an engineer.
-Another option here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070313152558AA0FupO
Overall, I have a few general question, which I feel are beyond yahoo answers, so I am going to write these down, and pay an engineer for 1/2hr or 1hr of their time to answer them.
Here is my question. What type of engineer do I need to contact? An acoustical engineer who specialises in speaker design, or would I be better off contacting an engineer who specialises in more industrial transducer design for applications like sonar/ distance measurement/ sonochemistry etc. Also, how can I find an engineer like this please?
I have already tried the main engineering association in my city for a registry, or list of engineers who work with transducers. I have tried accoustical associations and societies on the internet, with my country/state/city as one of the search terms. I have tried speaker manufacturers in the phone book and tried to get referals of someone they know who does this type of engineering. I have searched for companies which sell/manufacture industrial transducers in my state, and asked for a referal. I hope I am on the right track. Can you please suggest any other alternatives?
Thanks Cliff for this answer. I think you are right, in fact I know that there is a kit available. It makes an item called a "box". Unfortunately, i am finding it very difficult to find someone who will sell me one.
Thanks also for the suggestion about building one from scratch. I have tried to do this, but the main trouble I have had so far is finding a transducer which can handle the output power. Tone generation is relatively easy, and if i am working in piezoceramic or with an industrial transducer, i can buy an amp from a company in the phone book or on the internet which sells used scientific equipment. I may even be able to pay them a few dollars to test out a few different amps at the showroom, for research purposes.
Answer: there must be a kit commercially available, ready made? Otherwise, as sound is just a frequency, with a good book on electronics you could make a kit yourself that oscillates at said frequency, then use an Op-amp to get the required volume.
Question: Probability distribution? A quality control engineer at a widget factory randomly selects 3 widgets each day for a thorough inspection. Suppose the assembly process begins producing 20% defective.
a. Prepare a probabilty distribution for the number of defective widgets the engineer will find in the sample of 3.
Answer: This is a binomial distribution in which p = 1/5, and the number of trials is 3.
P(0 defects) = (1 - 1/5)³C(3,0) = (4/5)³(1) = 64/125
P(1 defect) = (1/5)(1 - 1/5)²C(3,1) = (1/5)(4/5)²(3) = 48/125
P(2 defects) = (1/5)²(1 - 1/5)C(3,2) = (1/5)²(4/5)(3) = 12/125
P(3 defects) = (1/5)³C(3,3) = (1/5)³(1) = 1/125

Question: How does a safety-critical computerization project guard against the enemy within ? Risk is obvious.
Someone on your team, for whatever reason, will bring the project underwater.
However well the project is running, the "enemy within" will ensure the project dives to capability level "0".

Given the obviuos risk of this happening, how does an organization guard against this happening ?
Answer: By making the Collins Class Submarine Development Project History required reading for all management personnel involved in any project involving the creation of software. It seems apparent from your previous questions that the text clearly portrays a "Whack job" in Human Resources, a "Nutcase" running the Safety-critical Software design team, and a Powerpath in charge of the whole project. Reading such a book would scare anybody into thinking that nothing can be accomplished if teamwork is required.

Answer: All of the above as its mans greed and will to be first to do anything that drives them, they are ignorant of the performance levels of their craft, but also sometimes the powers that be can actually say oh you can only go to level 2 knowing full well its capable of more but they dont want you to know in case the crew has a member who is of dubious character and sell secrets to those who are interested, so its very tricky! :)
Question: Will engineering and manufacturing processes follow some sort of sine curve or "stock market" curve ? So won't quality follow some sort of sine curve or "stock market" curve.
Aren't Murphy's laws a straightforward statement of this fact.
initial effort -90 degrees(that is 270 degrees) to 90 degrees
(quality goes from a low water mark to as good as it gets)
overhasty generalisation, or some other reason, causes quality to start falling off
(90 degrees to 270 degrees)
at 180 degrees, quality is now back at zero
efforts, that would work if quality was improving, are applied, but they cause quality to further fall off
falloff continues till 270 degrees
Answer: These processes are mostly modelled using quasi-linear functions like this one
x^2 - 1/(ax^n)
where a and n are multi-dimensional arrays or matrices. how a and n work are that 'a' represents some decaying matrice that is inversely proportional to the effort of the process whereas 'n' is a dimensional matrix connected to the revival process once the oscillation of the function reaches a very low level.
so yes you might just be right....
Question: More accomplishments on my resume and "Less Job Duties"? Is it true? I am an electrical engineer with over a year of entry level experience.
But i am finding it hard to find a decent job with a decent pay.
Right now i am stuck doing assembly work for this company at 12/hr. - I am starting to think it may have something to do with my resume.
•Supported all phases of product testing in a very busy start up GPS engineering company.
• Planned, developed and purchased equipment used in the testing and
alignment phases of the GPS manufacturing process.
• Created and organized support documentation used in the daily maintenance
and repair activities of product test equipment.
• Wrote, designed and produced software and hardware to assist production
operations to quickly move product through the testing process.
• Directed engineering and technical personnel in the fabrication of testing and
test-control apparatus and equipment.
• Directed and coordinated engineering activities concerned with development,
procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and
control devices.
•Actively worked to resolve project challenges and facilitate knowledge transfer between team members focused on shared objectives
•Determined conditions under which tests were to be conducted, sequences
and phases of test operations.
•Conferred with various R&D engineering and technical personnel to resolve
testing problems and other software issues.
• Demonstrated leadership in the development of technical innovations and in ensuring optimum collaboration and knowledge sharing of technical insights
•Analyzed test data and prepared technical reports for use by engineering and
management personnel.
• Successfully handled various capacity expansions, cost reduction activities
and quality improvement projects.
Does this look more like an acoomplishment or just job responsiblities?
Should i change it around and make it look more like - "Here's what i accomplished" rather than " Here's my job duties".
Is that why i am not getting any calls for an interview? The other thing is that I was a production manager at the engineering company - ALthough I managed to do as much engineering work as I could.
My accomplishments were mainly in production , increasing output - On the technical side i did troubleshooting, soldering, testing, writing some microcontroller programs ( which didn't really workout well , since i hate programming, because i can't do it ) .
But i did do substantially well in all other areas.
how do I change this resume to get some interviews ?
Answer: I don't want to go into depth, as this is isn't my field, but you may get more interviews if you show the impact of your achievements on the overall success of the business.
I'm not sure how relevant this is in your field, but think about how your decision/achievement has brought about an increase in efficiency or productivity. Imagine that you are a product that if invested in will either generate revenue or yield cost savings. Use the achievements in your current role as a portfolio to "sell yourself" to your next employer. The achievement in this portfolio can be expressed as a list of variables. For example, I trained my team to implement XXXXXX which decreased XXXX time by XXXX and increased XXXXX by X%. This not only shows that you are a good investment, but it also demonstrates your ability to analyse your role and decisions on a wider scale. I hope this helps.

It amazes me they let you people graduate.
Question: Are these English sentences right? Are there any mistakes? This is because that to be an excellent engineer, mastering the specialized theory is far insufficient. In fact, without knowing project time management, logistic management, quality control and process control comprehensively, the career path of an engineer would be blocked. Therefore, I am unequivocally aware that I need to learn the Industrial & Systems Engineering and continue pursuing a graduate program in order to enhance my ability and to adapt to the rising requirement of professions in this industry.
Is it Ok like this? Is there still any mistake?
However, although I worked hard and achieved a distinguished result in the undergraduate study, when I entered the industry and started with the real work, I gradually found myself inadequate to undertake an advanced job, Because in order to be an excellent engineer, mastering the specialized theory is by far insufficient. In fact, without knowing project time management, logistic management, quality control and process control comprehensively, the career path of an engineer would be blocked. Therefore, I am unequivocally aware that I should continue pursuing a graduate program on Industrial & Systems Engineering in order to enhance my ability and to adapt to the rising requirement of professions in this industry.
Answer: Too many superfluous words, such as "however", "although" and "because", "in order".
Here is my edit:

Question: How long could a complex device last if engineered incredibly well? This is a real science question inspired by science fiction. The first couple of paragraphs blabber about the show, but there is a real question at the bottom.
I'm a fan of Stargate, so of course I'm watching Stargate Universe.
On Stargate universe they on are the ship Destiny. From the show: We are the second evolution of this form. The Ancients left Earth thousands of years ago and modern humans are semi-descended from them. The stargate at the south pole was there when the Ancients left.
The ship Destiny pretty much has the job of carrying a stargate around so the ancients could hop on-board at a known address and get off at one of the planets seeded with a stargate from other robotics ships that came before. The stargate on Destiny and the ones seeded by the other ships are more primitive than the one on Earth at the south pole, so we can assume Destiny is older than not only human civilization, but it was old when the Ancients left Earth.
This is where it gets really nerdy:
Assume for a moment that the ancients really did have the ability to engineer reliably enough for a ship to last these thousands of years - so engineering quality gets left left out of the equation.
What would the half-life of some of the materials that we really don't think of as having a half-life used to build the ship be? Seriously - how long is steel going to be steel? Not just steel, but other things that are going to be needed to make this ship operate, all of the metals - we have to assume the ancients use some of the same materials we do. Yes, they will have exotics we don't have, but that's beside the point. At what age will some of these common materials simply experience atomic decay? Don't limit yourself to metals. I'm ignoring modern Earth based electronics, but even an exotic computer system vastly different from our own would have some combination of materials to make it function and the processing core would likely be made of different materials than the interface devices.
Glass for example isn't really a solid - after several thousand years it could just "flow" out of shape, like the dripping tar experiment.
Long question short - how long can a complex machine be made to last - even if incredibly over engineered - before the materials just break down?
This is beside the point, but I figured I would bring it up since it was addressed.
In the show Destiny has no moving parts on a daily basis while robotic without people on board. Solid state propulsion etc - you know Sci-Fi tech.
To fuel itself it raises shields, dives into the nearest star and actually draws in matter from the star - solar power to new conceptual extremes.
With people on-board of course there's hatches etc, but no real moving parts.
I always figured diving into a star would eventually put an end to the ship....
Answer: The problem to overcome is friction. Moving parts will eventually wear out. If there were NO moving parts ...
Also what would provide the energy? If its internal it would "wear out" "run down" - if external eg solar power the interaction of photons with the panels would degrade the performance.
We do have some interesting materials that have properties that would be science fiction 50 years ago - aerogels, nanotubes, engineering composites etc. so
its hard to say what will happen in the future!
Question: Evaluate Planning and Control methods used in an engineering company.? Thats a merit question. the pass one was identify and use planning and control methods in conjunction with a typical engineering project within your company. its gotta be an essay with maximum of 3000 words. so far ive identifiyed 5:
Quality Control
Production Scheduling
Capacity Requirements Planning
Inventory management
Process planning
so if anyone can help me out with bits i should write or any company websites that have stuff like that on there websites id be greatfull if u could help me out. if you have any useful webbies... the links would be nice :) thanks xxx
Answer: You need to add configuration control, acceptance test procedures, time sheets, issued budgets, non-conformance/corrective action reports and organization chart/scope of job.
Some of your items are more to a manufacturing company. Engineering companies are a little different.
Question: Should I study Industrial Engineering or Software Engineering? I really don't know which career I should choose, at first I thought about software engineering because "programming is cool" but I'm barely above average when it comes to computer skills, also I don't like the idea of being 8 hours a day in front of a computer typing, designing and testing software.
On the other hand, I kinda felt attracted to Industrial Engineering, watching the process of producing goods, seeing what can be improved and stuff like that and also it is work out of the office, however, I've had the "Quality Culture" and "Leadership" courses and they basically talk about nothing, its the same thing all over again and I know they don't specialize in any area but on a few.
I'm currently in Software engineering, or studying "Engineer in Software Development", would it be a good idea to change to Ind Eng?
I also don't know what I "really love to do" as I haven't had a job ever, even though I like software engineering I'm mainly looking for "working area" instead of specialization.
Answer: The other side always looks green.
Industrial engineering has it's own positives and negatives.
Suggest continue in software engineering.

Answer: you need to find out what your PSU wattage is, other than that your system will run any PCIe 16X interface card. I would guess that you have 1.0 slots but double check and see if they might be 2.0. at worst you would have to upgrade the PSU and I would suggest putting in a 600W for a single card and a 750W if you plan on SLI/Crossfire. They exceed the minimum power right now but you will be able to keep the PSU when you upgrade again...
Question: what is Biosystems Engineering? ok so i was looking into this for college this year but all it says on the website is :
"Biosystems Engineering is the industry of the 21st century, revolutionising the production, processing and manufacture of biological materials through new engineering technologies.
Biosystems engineers play pivotal roles in numerous areas, pioneering innovations in a global industry. New technologies include precision systems for production and harvesting; satellite remote sensing in planning and monitoring production and environmental conditions; conventional and novel bioenergy production systems; biosensors to optimise food process automation; advanced packaging systems to maximise product quality; recycling of materials and prevention of emissions to protect the environment; and information technologies to optimise bioprocess strategies. "
can someone explain this abit more clearly? because i actually dont get it, ok thanks in advance.
Answer: Biosystems engineers ensure that we have the necessities of life: safe and plentiful food to eat, pure water to drink, clean fuel and energy sources, and a safe, healthy environment in which to live.
Basically they take engineering principles (i.e. problem solving skills) and apply it to "natural" systems—rivers and waterways, soil, energy sources, forests, food/food chains, etc.
You could probably also describe it as the agricultural engineering of the 21st century.
Question: Help with a thermodynamics problem on energy analysis? A vertical cylinder fitted with a piston contains 10L of R-134a refrigerant at 10 degrees, 90% quality. The piston has a mass of 90kg and a cross sectional area of 0.006m^2 and is held in place by a pin. The local ambient pressure is 100kPa. The pin is then removed and after a period of time comes to equilbrium at a final temperature of 10 degrees.
So I need the final pressure and work done durign this process. In the question it states that its an expansion process but I'm not sure as to why this is the case; since prior to the pin being removed the effects of the atmospheric pressure and the weight of the piston wouldn't be present on the saturated mixture so logically speaking I would think the pressure would increase, and it would be a compression process?
Any mechanical engineers willing to lend me a helping hand?
Answer: Use a table, for example: http://www.ohio.edu/mechanical/thermo/property_tables/R134a/R134a_TempSat2.html
Pressure is about 400 kPa, more than enough to push the piston up.
Use the quality to figure the quantity of liquid and gas. Then, figure pressure in cylinder from piston weight and atmospheric. Use PV=nRT to figure volume, and volume to determine piston location.
Work is force (from piston weight + atmosphere) times distance. Good luck!

Question: yahoo messenger install: WHY is a restart needed? ante scriptum: please read the entire question if you want to help me out. bluffers will be bad-rated.
I have a question regarding the quality of yahoo messenger to be a spy or not.
why is a restart needed after one instals yahoo messenger 8.0 ?
as far as i know (i am a software engineer), system restarts are required after installing software that:
1. replaces files that are currently in use by an other process;
2. insatalls system services;
3. installs kernel-level drivers / components;
4. needs a library to be loaded with winlogon.
now tell me, why does yahoo messenger setup need a system restart ? because it SHURELY does not need to replace yahoo messenger's files as it is initially KILLED by its installer...
hoping to get good answers i do thank you.
post scriptum: i really hope to get at least a good answer or an answer from a yahoo staff member (hopefully a programmer)... i mean i dream of it...
Answer: Let me try to answer by the points you've made:
#1 - Yahoo! Messenger installer probably assumes that it overwrites a previous install - also it assumes that it has been used in the process prior to being asked to be close (we're talking about YM) so as to why it needs to restart
#2 - YM modifies startup services (by adding itself) and default program registries as well.
#3 - I doubt this one - its only a chat software.
#4 - Same as above.
This is not a technical answer as you can see I am not a YM staffer but merely an IT student - so I'm only able to pour my two cents into this.
But I must say that YM being a spyware is highly unlikely - as I am sure that the IT community would have discovered that years ago before YM could even go to a version as high as 8.0 - you may be just a little too paranoid my friend.
If you really wanted technical info, you could just consult their help desk.
Question: Check my English please? In cases like this, companies derive the entire process in the factory into several processes, and keep the engineers in countries with a relatively high standard of salary while shifting other areas of process with labor-intensively into countries with a lower standard of salary to ”reduce the capital-intensive production cost without lowering the quality of product technology. ”.

Answer: In these sort of cases, companies divide the entire process from the factory into several other processes, and keep the engineers in countries with a relatively high standard of salary while shifting other areas of process with labor - intensively into countries with a lower standard of salary to "reduce the capital-intensive production cost without lowering the quality of product technology".
It's good. I believe you don't have to improve it more than this. Nice work!

Question: problem with a agriculture industry !? Agricultural Engineering Limited is a small, UK based, company that specialises in the manufacture of a wide range of special purpose agricultural equipment, usually individually made to order for a diverse customer base. The previous owner, now aged seventy, wanted to sell the business and retire. Five months ago, four of the twenty employees borrowed money against their houses and bought the company. The previous draughtsman bought 35% of the shares and now acts as Company Director with the production engineer, now Production Director, buying 30%, the inspector, now Quality Director, buying 20% and the storekeeper, now Logistics Director, buying the remaining 15%. The fifteen production workers were employed in their existing roles with no change of pay or conditions.
Erfunden is a rural country relying principally on agriculture with thousands of small farmers each owning a patch of land that they cultivate, mainly by hand, to produce enough to feed themselves and have a little to sell at the local market. The country is technically a democracy, but several powerful families have undue influence on government policy. The minority (45%) government rules with a coalition made up of six out of the ten smaller parties with the opposition (35%) party constantly trying to split the coalition and form the government.
The Prime Minister of Erfunden, wants to bring his country into the twenty-first century by improving the current very primitive farming methods, amalgamating many small farms into larger, more economic, units and concentrating on cash crops. As part of this plan he wishes to place an order with Agricultural for three hundred of their patented automatic ploughs at £6,000 each for delivery within twelve months. The value of this order is more than twice their usual annual turnover.
With their current process layout and working practices, even concentrating exclusively on this order, Agricultural does not have the capacity to produce this quantity of ploughs within the timescale. The Production Director, however, believes that by concentrating exclusively on this order, moving the existing machines to form a product layout, buying a new 150 Ton press (which will require the existing floor to be locally strengthened and a new power supply installed) for £60,000 from a company in China, requiring the production workers to work more flexibly and working a six-day week they can meet the order on time.
I have to Prepare the BUSINESS CASE for the Production Director’s project presenting the arguments for and against, including a stakeholder and risk analysis and looking at alternative ways they could meet this order. On the basis of your analysis what would be YOUR advice to the company and WHY.
Assuming that they decided to go ahead: - i have to Prepare a detailed plan including a WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE and RISK MANAGEMENT PROPOSALS for the Production Director’s project including all aspects, not just repositioning of the machine tools and the installation of the new press.
can any 1 able to help me out in this problem
Answer: This is a pretty complex request. I do some of this for a living, and it takes days to put something like this together. I'm guessing no one will help you for free.
Question: English native speaker. Please help correct my paragraph? As a designer in the project, I applied my computer skills to draw the hydraulic schematic and applied my fundamental knowledge of statistics and mathematic to analyze the working condition of hydraulic system, contrasted and made choices for the exiting proposals of hydraulic system, as well as improved it. In addition, taking account of the aspects of material, process, cost and quality, I designed one of the hydraulic cylinders and selected types, patterns and brands of hydraulic components, based on my knowledge of mechanical engineering and the status of current market.
CE2.15 Through the design of hydraulic system of ZYJ800- Hydrostatic Pile Driver, I reviewed the knowledge which I learned during four years of undergraduate study and improved my ability of analysis and solving problems. And I also improved the ability of learning new skills and knowhow and collecting information My cooperative ability was developed during this period as well.
Answer: Some of the things you had seemed technically correct but still seemed cumbersome of clunky to me. I tried to smooth it over a bit.
The only consistent serious problem you had was losing articles. I infer that there was only *one* hydraulic system, so it should be referred to as *the* hydraulic system. If you worked on a broad array of hydraulic systems, then you might instead say "hydraulic systems". But I suspect, given that you were working on a specific project, that there was one or more specific hydraulic systems, so "the" is called for.
So here goes:
As a designer in the project, I applied my computer skills to draw the hydraulic schematic and applied my fundamental knowledge of statistics and MATHEMATICS to analyze the working condition of THE hydraulic system, contrasted and made choices for the exiting proposals of THE hydraulic system, as well as improved it. In addition, taking account of CONSIDERATIONS of material, process, cost and quality, I designed one of the hydraulic cylinders and selected types, patterns and brands of hydraulic components, based on my knowledge of mechanical engineering and the STATE of THE current market.
CE2.15 Through the design of THE ZYJ800- Hydrostatic Pile Driver HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, I REINFORCED the knowledge which I learned during four years of undergraduate study and improved my ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. I also improved MY ability TO LEARN new skills and KNOW-HOW and TO COLLECT information. My cooperative ability was developed during this period as well.

The Enclosure Movement, was when land owners bought and/or fenced off common land that was intended for common communal agricultural purposes.
The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from off the goose.
The law demands that we atone
When we take things we do not own
But leaves the lords and ladies fine
Who take things that are yours and mine.
The poor and wretched don’t escape
If they conspire the law to break;
This must be so but they endure
Those who conspire to make the law.
The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
And geese will still a common lack
Till they go and steal it back.
