Answer: High school teacher- you have to deal with spoiled loud obnoxious kids for 8 hours.Yuck why would you want to do that, it is a thankless job.
HVAC tech is a nasty job, going under houses where there are reptiles bugs sewer and god only knows what else. Attics are hot as heli in summer time and you have a small space to work. So you have to ask yo self which one sounds the best. teachers salary sucks and so does hvac tech.HVAC is more in demand teachers are being laid off daily.
Question: Whats the difference between an HVAC Technician and HVAC apprenticeship? To become a Tech its a 1-2 year course with a third year option and an HVAC apprenticeship takes 5 years...What is the difference in labour and pay?
Answer: Apprenticeship is on the job training while the tech courses are just book learning with little hands on. Pay scale varies from area to area. A union apprenticeship is the way to go if you can get in one. They have classes after work a couple of nights a week and will teach you everything you need to know at a low cost (union dues) while you are making money at the same time.
Question: What career would be better an electrician or hvac technician? I'm wanting to go to school for one of these occupations I'm having a hard time choosing which wud have best employment rate and good pay
Answer: that probably depends on where you live. In fla we use many a/c techs because of all
the hot weather. Electricians would be mainly for repairs since no houses are being built.
I am sure that both trades have many unemployed.
Question: How important is Math and Science when becoming a HVAC technician?
Answer: Mike T. is right right . I'm a 30 yr. Mech. I picked up on HVAC by working part time with a HVAC service man. Who was also a H.S. HVAC instructor at one time. It's like any other trade the longer you work at it , the more you learn a know. The math and science is minimum. P.S. it gets hot in attics when the A/C isn't working. Just one thing you may want to know.

Question: What are the best states to live and work in as an electrician/hvac technician?
Answer: Texas, California and Florida are the three big HVACR markets in the US. California is in the middle of a budget crisis causing a lot of instability in business. Florida is seeing a mass exodus of people causing it's own economic woes. Texas is a pro business state with right to work laws. It is also maintaining good employment numbers with no income tax. Last but not least, the towns in the Texas Panhandle are still seeing a demand for qualified techs.
Wherever you decide to move, good luck. You are in a business with a high demand for qualified employees, a business that pays reasonable wages with good benefits. Beyond that there will always be a demand for refrigeration techs.

Question: Which is the best job out of these four. Plumber, electrician, HVAC technician or carpenter ? By best I mean which has the best pay, the best working condtions, the best job outlook. Also in which field do you advance the quickest.
Answer: Best for money: Plumber ($31,996 to $44,544) Entry level
Best for working conditions: Carpenter
Best for quick advancement: Electrician
Best job outlook: That depends upon the economy and the housing construction market!
In the long run, being an Electrician may be your best bet. A journeyman can make $25 to $40 an hour, depending on where in the US he/she is working. There is less dirt, and crap to deal with and, if working in the utility industry, opportunity for advancement is high.
Question: I'm thinking of being an hvac technician what are the pros and cons?
Answer: The housing market slump. Commerical development is still strong but HVAC technicians need to be aware of the current trends in the housing market causing a lack of employment. But previously mentioned the commerical development market is still relatively strong for a suitable career in HVAC.
Its a well paid and needed job buildings and houses need ventilation, heating, and cooling. You might have to take some engineering, architectural, courses in college.
Question: How does someone become a HVAC Certified Technician?
Answer: Trade Schools. There are several.
Here is one in MO

Question: Which is easier to get a job as...an HVAC technician or Electrician (after you are trained)? I'm trying to decide which one to go into...heating ventilation and air conditioning or electrician. HVAC is a diploma 12 month thing, and Electrician is 2 year degreed
Think before you act Terrance H. I'm asking an honest question
Answer: It’s best to follow where your passion leads you. But seriously, they are both good trades. The electrical trade will offer a wider field of opportunity whereas HVAC is just HVAC.
Good luck
Master Electrician.

Question: Are you an HVAC service technician? Do you enjoy it? Do you get decent business? And would it be helpful towards achieving competence in commercial HVAC design? Thanks.
Answer: There's a very good demand for hvac technicians that are competent and willing to get their hands dirty. The principles of hvac are always going to be the same. The technology itself makes advances regularly as more and more people become conscious of energy savings. When the economy is good there are lots of new installations. When the economy is not doing so well, people fix the broken units. The world has become absolutely dependent on refrigeration and heating and air conditioning technology. Residential comfort cooling pays well and provides a stable work environment. Commercial refrigeration and comfort cooling pays better and has a much broader application. Either way, it's a good occupation and presents excellent opportunities for a challenging and rewarding life.
Question: Hvac technician in the Air Force? HVAC Technician work is a job i am thinking of choosing while in the Air Force. I still have a choice, and i am also looking into the future if this is a job that will also do good in civilian world. Do you guys think that the Air Force would really train me correctly in this field (ofcourse they would lol), and what do you think are the chances of getting employed in this field in the civilian world, with almost 6 years military experience in it backing me up (with some extra certifications).
Answer: You have a good chance and to learn an important career where there are many job opportunities./
Question: Is an HVAC and Oil Heat technician the same? Which one makes more by the way?
Answer: No they are not, and as far as money goes it depends on where you work and what you do, HVAC usually can make more though.
Question: Hvac technician questions? Hello, I'm 18 and going to Tech. School for Hvac after I graduate.
I'm moving to NYC with two of my friends so we can handle an apartment, one is going for his plumber's degree and the other in Graphic Design.
I'm just wondering, at the peak of my education, what would I be paid as an Hvac technician in NYC?
How much will I be paid right out of school? I'm guessing 12-20$ an hour?
Answer: well in a few years when you are finished with school you could probably make 12-14 to start assuming the economy gets better, but you would probably also move up in pay fairly quickly depending on the quality of work you do and your knowlege in the field. Like i said, it all depends on the job market.
Question: HVAC technician good career move? i want to become an HVAC technician is this a pretty stable job I'm 18 and would like to go to school. this is the class i was considering
http://www.elgin.edu/catalogprograms/Pro...
would this put me on a straight career path? i have a few questions as would i be able to find work when I'm in school working with a HVAC company and what is the starting wage one licensed?
Answer: Good field. Plan to move to a hot climate and large population venue for high demand for your services.
Question: Is becoming a HVAC technician a good career move?
Answer: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
I used to have an office across the hall from an HVAC company, and the owner was *constantly* complaining about how hard it was to find anyone to work for him - but he wanted people who knew something about HVAC, not just warm bodies.
At the time, the local unemployment rate was about 15%, due to the closing of a major factory.
I've kept my eyes open, and have noticed that there are *always* ads for qualified HVAC technicians. Pay is pretty darned good, too.
I've been trying to talk my son into going into this field for five years. There's no school near him that offers it - but I think it would be worth leaving his family at home and living in a dorm while he takes the courses, and commuting on weekends.
But he knows everything, and his father knows nothing.
Yes, it's a good career move.
Question: HVAC Technician-kimberly clark? I have a interview at kimberly clark. I am being considered for a hvac technician position. The recruiter said I would be doing work on their chillers, changing light bulbs, and the plumbing, etc. Is there anyway I can start a contracting company in the future with this experience. If so, who would be my clients.
Answer: A contracting company that changes light bulbs? I don't think so. If you are a certified HVAC technician you might be able to continue working somewhere, but you need a degree and certification.Hope this helps.
Question: I am a HVAC Technician and I charged gas at a gas station and the owner is not paying me the money what should?
Answer: sue him
Question: Doing what job would you make the most money, a plumber, a electrician or a HVAC technician ?
Answer: Hvac and Refrigeration. You can make the most money and you're not subjected to season ups and downs.
Question: human resources or hvac technician? now im haven second thoughts about HR to stressful and all that......im considering hvac technician its gooood pay wut is better
Answer: I've worked in HR for the last 13 years.....Go with HVAC! When you work in HR you really learn to hate people! Employees complain and whine about everything!!!! HVAC offers good pay, opportunity to meet a variety of people, possible travel, and it's somewhat physical to help keep you in shape. In HR you'll be stuck at a desk and most likely gain weight.
Good Luck!
Question: Should I have to pay for HVAC Technician to draw nd weigh refrigerant after he put too much refrigerant in sys? I have a split-type system that calls for 1070 grms/37.74 ozs of refrigerant. I had HAVAC Technician come pull a vacuum, check for leaks, and he "said" he had to put 4 lbs. of R-410a refrigerant in system. First of all, can a system that calls for 37.74 ozs hold 4 lbs. of refrigerant? Or, did Tech screw me and charge me for more than he put in unit?
The Technician at company that made system says HVAC Tech over charged system, and that is why system is not blowing out heat, and it needs to be weighed for proper amount.
Should I have to pay for HVAC Tech to come and draw out some refrigerant to proper weight of 37.74 ozs?
The HVAC person that did this is in the 60-70 year old range, and has done heating and air for decades.
37.74 ozs [1070grms] is what is on Spec. Tag on unit.
Unit has no leaks. Already been checked for leaks.
It's a 'Split-Type', 9000btu cool/10000btu heat system. Yes, it is small, one room. There is approx. 10' of copper line between inside and outside units. When first installed, there was a leak. Leak was fixed. HVAC man pulled a vacuum and checked for leaks. Then instead of weighing refrig. to 37.74 ozs as required on nameplate, he put 4 lbs. refrig. in it. System's company Tech Advisor says it has to be weighed to 37.74 ozs./1070grm as stated on nameplate, instead of just putting 4lbs, in order to operate correctly. Indoor unit dosen't blow heat out, starts to briefly, then just blows out cool air. Company Tech says this is caused by too much refrigerant/overcharge.
Answer: must be a small system to only need that much...typically the nameplate says what the proper charge is which normally includes up to a certain length of copper tubing, usually 15-25 feet..if copper tubing that connects indoor and outdoor units is longer than that, the mfr calls for so much per foot extra refrigerant..also if a aftermarket drier was installed in the liquid line, they can hold several ounces of refrigerant extra, also the gauge hoses used for charging the unit hold a few ounces, depending on how long they are,,so the total could have been over 3 lbs,and of couse they always "round up" when it comes to the bill.....puron [r410a] units are different from r-22 units in that its more important to do everything by the book as far as evacuating, changing driers, using nitrogen purge while brazing, and getting the refrigerant charge right...if unit is overcharged,it could cause a problem, but it depends how much overcharged..thats why its good with these new systems that take puron to document all pressure and temp readings on the reciept after repair is complete.....why was this repair even done to begin with??..was there a problem before that still exists?............... .......****added...ok,i havent seen many 10000 btu units but sounds like you have a legit complaint... some times the older techs are used to doing things a certain way and dont adapt to the new sytems...for someone to put in 64 oz. when nameplate calls for 37oz [plus a couple oz. for hose[s] used to charge unit if its charged with liquid] is negligant.........that much extra puron would cause the high side pressure to go way high, probably causing a high pressure switch to open, shutting off compressor, therefore the cool [ room temp] air....the smaller the unit, the more critical the refrigerant charge is...if you overcharge a 5 ton unit that takes 15 lbs of refrigerant by 1.5 pounds, probably wouldnt make that much difference, whereas overcharging your unit by 1.5 lbs [ one point five] causes a problem...you shouldnt have to pay obviously, hopefully the technician / company will do the right thing and correct the refrigerant charge under warrenty.....
Question: How can I start an HVAC business with my husband as a consultant and employees doing the actual work? My husband is a very experienced HVAC technician and we need more income but he doesn't want to leave his current job for the government since it is enjoyable hours and nice benefits. I am wondering if I can start an HVAC business and hire techs to do the actual labor and my husband can be a consultant resource. Do I need an HVAC license to actually own the business even if I am not doing any hands on work? What if my husband has the license? I would be the business manager and scheduler.
Answer: Almost anyone can own a business and some that do know nothing about how the work is done. You may as the owner be required to have a contractor's Licenses. Showing that you know the laws as they relate to this field/ This may be different in your state. Your responsibility to the business as the owner would be to provide good service to your customers. Have you looked at the costs of starting this? Are you going to buy the employees trucks to drive? What are your Cost for insurance? Dont forget Liability, if you drop a 10ton AC thru a roof how are you protected? Do you have 2 years of capital to run the company if you dont make a penny? Good luck I hope this helps!
Question: what are the necessary data fof an HVAC technician need to check for air-cooled chiller, running condition?
Answer: suction pressure
head pressure
current draw
high pressure cut out
low pressure cut out
super heat on evaporator
What is HVAC, (is it high voltage AC?) If so what is a HVAC technician? Oh the joys of using regional terms on an international site
Question: Getting hired as an HVAC technician? I'm 17 years old and in about a month I will have my Universal HVAC Certification. I just want to know if it will be a problem for me to get hired because of my age with a company. I have the proper certification and training to work as an HVAC tech. But the only worry I have is that of my age. Will this be a problem or Is the certification enough to get hired with???
Answer: Well I think employers will look for someone with more experience to be at this level in theirs company. Yes in my opinion age is an issue. But you can always get there trough company apprenticeship shame. Or just simply applying for technician positions and prove them wrong.
for HVAC tech positions I recommend http://electrojob.co.uk
Unique website focusing ONLY on employment opportunities within electrical/electronic industry.

Question: Need information on Zoned HVAC Systems? How do these work? Are they reliable? Are they worth the money? Does anyone have any experience of zoned HVAC systems? Are you an HVAC Technician or a Homeowner?
There is currently a central forced-air system.
I’m considering having two zones, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I don’t mean having two aircon units, one for each floor. I’d really like three zones as one room upstairs gets extremely hot.
Answer: Hi, I am a homeowner with an older 2 story cape cod. My husband did a modified version of this. He just happens to be a licensed HVAC contractor in Connecticut. We have two thermostats. One up and one down. During the summer we shut off the downstairs thermostat and just use the upstairs for the air conditioning since that is where we really need it. Also for the room that gets really hot you should look into a power boost fan to direct more air to that room its inserted into the ductwork. keeping the room dark with shades, blinds or curtains really helps too. (I just called my husband at work) He says if you can go for the zones do it. Its energy efficient as well as cost effective.
Good luck!
