Question: Never heard of this company, is it a scam? Hi guys, I sent my resume in response to an office assistant ad on craigslist and i just
got a reply from them. Here's how they describe their company:
"McValley Technologies & Satellite Communications Incorporated is creating an IT Oriented Online Network of staffs working with its account department to offer assistance with the Data Entry Unit and Customer Care Duties. This is with the use of over vast Network and Data base provided with High Tech Electronic Devices, Gadgets as well a Satellite Communication Materials and Instruments to help facilitate IT-research . McValley Technologies has been at the forefront of the Software & Hardware technology industry, using human genetic information to develop novel medicines for serious and life-threatening diseases. Today, Intel is among the world's leading technology companies, With multiple generic software & hardware systems in the market, McValley Technologies Inc has gotten a large customer base around the globe."
I googled their company and there is zero information about them. Should i go if they call me
to schedule an interview? Is it a scam?
Thank you so so so much! :)
Answer: Hey...
I received the same email back...I responded to the ad too....I believe it is a scam, If you look at the email address that it is sent from, it is a cometsupply email address, and this has been a scam going on for some time now. Not to mention if you read the email again, slowly, you will see all of the grammar errors made, no Human Resource person is going to send a reply email to hundreds of people with that many errors...they make some things plural when not necessary. This person, is most likely foreign, most of these scams come from countries in Africa, or the middle east....The deal breaker for me when I suspected it, was that they asked for my age...umm that's illegal, you can ask if you're over 18, but that's it! Don't get involved with them!!! Good luck in your job search....and don't listen to what some other people said...there are many great, legit opportunities on craigslist, my last work from home job was for 1 year and 1/2 and it was awesome(found in gigs on CL)...so keep trying...just be weary of those stupid scams!!
Question: What career is best to take right now that makes good money? I have a list of the associates degrees to take:? here is the site:
http://www.chartercollege.edu/content/career_programs/charter_college_programs_complete_list.html
and the list are:
Computer Science: Concentration in Business Applications
Computer Science: Concentration in Network Security
Computer Science: Concentration in Network Technology
Computer Science: Concentration in Technical Graphics
Medical Office Administration:
Concentration in Medical Coding and Billing
Medical Office Administration: Concentration in Medical Assistant
Computerized Accounting
Criminal Justice
btw, i live in ALASKA and im an 18 year old high school graduate.
Answer: Just a word to the wise that 'charter college' seems like one of those private $$ career/tech (possible even an online, for-profit) schools so please look at the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college (or traditional university) as long as the program is accredited within the industry.
As far as the listing of degrees, perhap I can help you cross certain ones off the list :) There aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the medical assistant or medical biller or coder despite what those private expensive schools proclaim. With the numerous training programs available, the fields are saturated. Regarding medical billing, a lot of companies are outsourcing to Asia/India leaving jobs more scarce. With medical coding, the person usually needs a couple of years experience doing coding tasks, certification(s) in the field and preferably completion of an Accredited program to possibly get a job.
The medical office administration course is more or less to become an office manager of a doctor's office. There may be a lot of competition for jobs such as those since most dr's offices tend to have perhaps one manager especially if a small practice, and I'm sure that those hiring require a certain amount of experience. With medical assistants, most employers prefer MAs with 1-2 years experience in the field to possibly get accepted for the job position.
For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks' (may get that type of job with computerized accounting) or whatever other career that piques one's interest.
With schooling, please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (may have 'bricks and mortar' buildings and may be 'accredited') such as penn foster, capella, sanford brown, allied college/high-tech, kaplan, US career, ashford, colorado tech, ashworth, stratford career, devry, ITT tech, argosy, remington and others (and course credits may Not transfer): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.
For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
Just wanted to relay what Farrah Gray, young male author of 'Reallionaire' and multimillionare suggests when considering a career path: "What would I do for years and years to come and not have to get paid?"

Question: Why is the first thing activists say ICE audits are tearing families part. Didn't actvists also say better? Why is the first think activists say is ICE audit is tearing families part. Didn't activists also say better illegal immigration be left up to the feds and when the feds do it,the activists start in on audits are tearing families part and the feds must not enforce immigration matters ? EL PASO -- At least 41 businesses in El Paso will be part of a national audit of 1,000 businesses by federal officials looking for immigration violations in hiring workers.
The audit will be among the biggest in El Paso by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a move that drew immediate criticism from a local immigrant-rights group.
The local businesses chosen for audits were not named, but the agency said on its Web site that all the businesses selected for inspection were the "result of investigative leads and intelligence É and connection to public safety and national security."
The Border Network for Human Rights, based in El Paso, opposed the audits.
"We are saddened and disappointed that two years after the disastrous 2007 immigration raids that tore apart families and penalized American businesses, the federal government is once again adopting a shortsighted enforcement-only approach to immigration policy," the group said in a prepared statement.
The group also said the federal government should concentrate its efforts on fighting crimes along the border such as drug trafficking and gang activity instead of "harassing hardworking families and business owners."
Of the 1,000 businesses nationwide, 161 are in Texas. In addition to the ones in El Paso, there are about 60 in the San Antonio area and 40 in the Houston area.
When the audits will take place and how they will be conducted has not been announced.
"ICE is focused on finding and penalizing employers who believe they can unfairly get ahead by cultivating illegal workplaces," ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton said on the agency's Web site.
According to The Associated Press, dairy farmers in Vermont were among the businesses getting notifications from immigration officials to turn over payroll and hiring records, said Kelly Loftus, spokeswoman for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture.
Some dairy farmers say they use foreign workers because it is hard to find people locally for the work.
Richard Dayoub, president and CEO of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, said, "They (ICE) are really taking an effort by their part to understand the depth of the problem. I'm not sure what they will accomplish."
At the same time, the Homeland Security Department announced it would give a seal of approval to businesses volunteering to use an electronic program to check workers' immigration status.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Thursday that the public should know which companies are following the law. The problem is that the program known as E-Verify is still under development, and the law does not require employers to use it. They are required to use a paper system.
E-Verify is an Internet- based system that allows employers to voluntarily determine the eligibility of new hires to work in the United States, using information provided on the employee's I-9 form.
The E-Verify campaign is being promoted by ICE as a way to help employers maintain a legal work environment.
"All employers have an obligation to assure that they have a work force that complies with the law," El Paso Mayor John Cook said. "They E-Verify system will implement technology to assist employers with that responsibility."
Cindy Ramos-Davidson, CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, said she felt that the E-Verify system was not up to speed, and that all it took was one small error to set up a business for litigation.
The last nationwide audit conducted by ICE resulted in 14,000 suspicious documents.
The Border Network for Human Rights said in its statement that it "hopes that the Obama administration will rethink this outdated strategy and keep his campaign promise to implement comprehensive immigration reform."
http://www.elpasotimes.com/ci_13837362?s…
Why do activists feel illegals should not be held to any standard in the work place and ICE should not bother illegals even when they use document , stolen documents as such documents enable illegal to have a better life and current laws are unjust. People feel its ok to break laws without any punishment since what they are doing is offering them a better life ? Is this how
activists believe our immigration laws must be directed ?
Why is the first thing activists say ICE audits are tearing families apart.
Answer: ICE audits aren't tearing families apart. Those who come here illegally are doing that all on their own.

Answer: I think the specs are decent although it seems the laptop is very heavy since the monitor is 17". From my experience, carrying laptop that has weight more than 2kg is killing me. So if you are very mobile, this laptop is not for you.
Another thing is I heard the quality of Toshiba does not live up with the expectation recently. You might want to look for other brands as well. The specs you mentioned above is quite standard, so I believe it will be easy to find the similar specs in other brands.
My laptop has quite similar specs as yours but with a smaller size - the brand is Sony Vaio. I should say that I am happy with it. HP laptop should be quite good as well.
Lastly, don't use Vista. It sucks. Frankly, I think you'd better to wait for Windows 7. But if you need a new laptop urgently, you'd better use XP. Vista is resource-hunger and inefficient.

Answer: Don't you listen to the neo-cons....you're wrong. Don't confused their blind hatred with FACTS! There's no place for that here. As far as all the things he's done, well he....he.....LOOK!!! A fake Birth Certificate!! (what was the question?)
Question: Is this true or false?......? ....that a student has to have prior knowledge to computer networking, programming or something about computers before taking college courses for Computer Support Specialist or Information Technology?
I desperately want to go to school for an associates degree and I'm torn between health care (occupational therapy assistant) and computers (computer support specialist or info tech). Which is best? I can't believe i'm 26 yrs old and still confused about what kind of career to get into.
Answer: If you are interested in computers and find a good college, give their admissions department a quick call and just ask what the prerequisites for that program are in terms of diplomas, and computer classes, etc. Are you a computer whiz at home? Does it come naturally to you? Anyway if the college tells you you need lots of courses then you can usually pick up those classes very easily at night school at your local community college (if they don't let you take them concurrent to your regular college computer coursework). You can get these classes in just a semester probably and then off you'll go into the regular college and start your new educational path and career. If health care is your thing, that would be a great field to get into as well. Of course healthcare is booming, but occupational therapy assistants are worked hard physically just so you know and the pay isn't as great as if you are the therapist. Either way though, google, "the Occupational Outlook Handbook" ( 2009) and see the huge book that comes up about the different occupations and it's all their online. Otherwise your local library always has these occupational handbooks for each year (it's a huge book that tells you how much money each career makes and the ups and down and the job outlook for each.) Then after comparing the two careers, you'll have to do a lot of serious thinking of what career would be better suited for you. Good luck!! It will be great to start along this new path. Be proud of yourself for going to college! SIERRA

Question: In advance information technology, is there a way to access the other computers' my docs within a network? The HR assistant don't want to share the employees file with birthday and position, yet we need it in the accounting department. My only intention is to hasten my work and avoid idle time of requesting endorsement from her. This is a relevant part of the accounting and reporting on a monthly basis.
Answer: go to the folder ryt click properties, on the sharing tab, check the private folder. apply ok.
Question: Canada - ISP's to help POLICE ?? (HEADLINE)? Canada wants telcos, ISPs to widen police access
Module body
Thu Jun 18, 1:37 PM
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada unveiled draft legislation on Thursday that would oblige telecommunications firms and Internet service providers to allow police to intercept information passing across their networks.
The Conservative government said police and other law enforcement officials needed more help to deal with sophisticated modern methods of communications.
"The proposal will require companies to pay for intercept capability in certain new equipment and software, while the government will provide reasonable compensation when retrofits to existing networks are needed," Ottawa said in a statement.
There is no guarantee the bill will become law. The Conservatives do not control a majority of seats in the House of Commons and there is increasing speculation about an election later this year, which would kill the bill.
"Technologies like the Internet, cell phones, and personal digital assistants clearly benefit Canadians in their day-to-day lives," said Justice Minister Rob Nicholson.
"Unfortunately, these technologies have also provided new ways of committing crimes, such as distributing child pornography. We must ensure investigators have the necessary powers to trace and ultimately stop crimes," Nicholson said.
The draft legislation would also oblige telecom firms and Internet service providers (ISPs) to quickly give authorities subscriber information such as name, address, telephone number and Internet protocol address, e-mail address, service provider identification and certain cell phone identifiers.
DOES THIS MEAN THEY WILL LOG ON TO YOUR COMPUTER? OR JUST TRACK WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING ONLINE FROM SPECIAL SERVERS?
LIKE IF THEY ARE CAPABLE OF LOOKING AROUND IN YOUR COMPUTER, THATS INVADING PRIVACY.
Answer: No, they can't log onto your computer or hack into it. All ISPs maintain subscriber records and records of IPs assigned to the subscriber. This bill would also allow the police to intercept communications going over the network. Here in the U.S. a warrant would be required before the communications could be intercepted. I assume it is the same in Canada.

Mainframe Communication
Answer: Of course it's a scam.
They want you to give them your bank account name and routing numbers so they can empty it.
The length of the email is funny--so is the throwing around of 1960s-1980s computer phrases (and even one for diabetics). No US firm would name themselves "Mainframe communication" and then talk about you having a pc and internet access.
By definition, if it can be done on the internet, they don't need you. Paper records (these don't actually exist) can be scanned.
Bizarre references to logs and excel spreadsheets. General Ledgers aren't done this way in real businesses.
Again an embedded reference to your cash:
*I want you to understand that we pay our staffs via Pay (Bank transfer or Check) " They will want *you* to "pay the staff" with *your* money. And of course, they will need *your* bank account information to make the scam work.
Question: Here's what I like, now what would my dream job be? I'm having a hard time determining what my dream job truly is. Can you help? Here's what I do know...
*) I like puzzles. Everything about them really, from solving existing ones, to building new ones. In a lot of ways, building a new puzzle is a puzzle in itself (How would you go about designing one?). So reduced to a single skill/interest: I like problem solving
*) I like technology. Once again, this has been something that's been part of my life since I was little. The problem is, I'm definitely not interested in a lot of career choices here. For instance, I'm pretty sure I would absolutely hate tech support or networking for my job. I guess more than anything the skill/interest boils down to using technology
*) I like to stay busy, but not too busy. At my current employer, things seem a bit slow, but at my previous employer, they wanted too much. I guess my ideal is an environment where there aren't critical issues [no/seldom overtime], but the company isn't so bogged down with red tape so that there's always something to work on. Sooo.. I guess that could be summed up in stable work hours
*) I really enjoy cataloging and mapping things. Like, I think about old computer games I used to play (Fazuul, Crossroads of the Elements, etc.) and I loved to map out the worlds, loved to document the various items and creatures in the game, etc. I guess it's the idea of having a finite list of inputs, and use them to generate a set of outputs. I'm trying to think of careers where this could be of use, and the only one I can think of right now is something like a lab assistant where I would document the results of various scientific experiments. When I think about it like that though, it sounds boring.
*) I definitely need to know that I'm helping others. One of the most satisfying things about any job I've had is when a co-worker asks me for help and I can resolve their issue for them. Again though, a full-time job in tech support would just irritate me to no end.
*) Kind of similar to the above interest, is teaching. While I don't aspire to be a teacher, I do enjoy passing on any knowledge I may have to others. I dabbled in this a little bit when I gave some training courses to a program we were using at work.
*) One thing that I'm starting to miss in my current job is learning new things. - there haven't been a lot of opportunities for developing new skills. So, it'd be nice to have a job where I'd be continually learning new things.
*) Working with technology, there is definitely an overlooked interest, and that's the use of creativity. While I'm not looking to paint portraits or compose songs for a living, having a creative outlet in my job would be very fulfilling. Thinking about what that could mean in a technological sense, it could be something like working with graphic programs like Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photo Shop... or in the sense of puzzles, designing the look and feel of a particular challenge.
So, what good jobs have these in common?
Problem solving
Using technology
Stable work hours
Cataloging / Mapping
Helping others
Teaching / Sharing wisdom
Continuous learning
Creativity
Answer: I recommend you try to do engineering. It really sounds like you. In addition, engineering has many branches itself. You problem solve, definitely use technology, and many of the other things you mentioned.
Question: Does it matter where you get your IT degree from? I am a junior in high school and I am looking at colleges. I know that I want a degree in Information Technology (or the equivalent), but I don't know if it's worth the money to go somewhere like Purdue or Rochester when I could go to a local college for much cheaper (not to mention it's closer).
I am very knowledgeable in IT and I am employed by my school as the Assistant Network Administrator, so is a degree from a prestigious school worth it? From what I can gather, it seems that a college degree only really matters before you have your first job. After that, it's all experience.
Thanks a lot for any advice. The process just seems so overwhelming.
Answer: Believe when I tell you that companies only care if you can resolve problems in the world of IT.
I know companies who hire non-degree IT personnel who know what they are doing over hiring people with IT degrees but haven't a clue.
Timely performance is key....
Question: Is there a way to simulate a crossover cable connection between two PC Virtual Machines in VMWare? I'm a lab assistant for a Network Technologies course in college. For the course we are using VMWare and have a virtual machine of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. The book that we're going through to teach the students requires that the two computers be hooked together via a crossover cable, but since we're using VMWare, this seems to be impossible. I was wondering if there was any way to simulate a crossover cable connection via VMWare to complete this exercise?
Thanks in advance!
Answer: Try this:

Question: What are my chances of getting into a good college? I'm really aiming for Ohio State University, and here's my credentials:
-2.8 GPA (kinda low, I know)
-I am on my high school's tech team as a Direct Networking Assistant which is a full-time payed job that is well known and hard to get into. I hope that it shows my dedication to technology, my working experience, and my ability to be on a team.
-I was on OMUN (Ohio modeled United Nations) which is basically a leadership thing that colleges love to see.
-I was an "Eagle Ambassador" at my school which helped the principal plan school events.
-I was a sophomore leader.
-I attend a very competitive high school that is harder than many other public schools; I also have taken AP courses.
-I am a first generation college student.
-I exceed the minimum course requirements for most standard colleges, because by the end of my senior year I will have taken
4 english classes
6 social studies classes
3 sciences
4 math classes
3 years of same foreign language
3 years of business or technology
3 years of art classes.
So even with my low GPA, can anyone give me an answer as to how likely I am to get into a selective college, or even OSU?
Thanks!!!
Answer: You are generally expected to have a 3.0 to get into a selective college. Obviously you are below that so it will be difficult - but not impossible.
Your best bet is to find some colleges that interest you and contact them. To start you out on the checkout:
http://www.ctcl.org/
Specifically for OSU check out:
http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=2007&profileId=0
Since they admit 76% of applicants I think you have a shot.
Thanks

Question: Is Microsoft Certification (MCSA/MCSE) enough to compete in the U.S. Information Technology job market? I worked as a Novell computer network administrator for 12 years until 1998 when I moved to Japan to become an assistant English teacher. I'm considering taking steps to go through the Microsoft Certification process to get back into the IT job market in the U.S. Can people with computer science degrees coupled with current Microsoft Certification (MCSA/MCSE) still compete with those coming out of Indian universities? I've read recently that it's becoming difficult for non-L1/L1B visa holders to find work. If so, what type of new careers are non-L1/L1B visa holder IT job workers moving in to? I very much appreciate any information or advice!
Answer: Honestly, I don't think it will help you unless you are competing for a specific job with a high-profile company. Your best bet is to get back into work, even if it's a little lower on the totem pole than what you were, just so you can start putting things on your resume. These recruiters now only care that are working and having working experience. Once you get in a company, you can let them pay for your certification.

Question: What do you think of my college entrance essay for the Fashion Institute of Technology? The school basically wants a personal essay explaining who I am and why I want to attend the school. The essay question is very vague. This is a rough draft of my essay. Feedback would help plenty.
_________________________________________________________
What does FIT mean to me? Why do I want to attend FIT? FIT represents opportunity. FIT is the one step that I feel is necessary for me to achieve my dreams. Without the education and the networking opportunities that this school offers, I feel I will always be a step behind. The experience, the people, everything learned there would be incorporated in the real world. The environment alone is motivating. To be surrounded by people with the same drive and ambition, there’s just no comparison. This is why I’d like to attend FIT and complete a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications.
To be honest, I haven’t always had straight A’s or been an honor roll student, but I’m ready to achieve it and aim for nothing less. I’m determined to succeed and take advantage of all the classes involved with your Advertising and Marketing curriculum. After taking several years off from school, I now see the importance of getting a solid education. FIT’s approach at teaching is unique from any other college, which is the reason why I know I would benefit from your school. The hands-on approach and close connection with the industry is something that I’m excited about. Honestly, with this school, the possibilities are endless.
Fashion plays a huge role in my life. To me, it’s a lifestyle. Ever since I was young, it’s been a part of who I am. I want to use my creativity to my advantage. In the future, I see myself using my degree and hopefully landing a career with companies such as Nike, Ralph Lauren, Puma, etc. My goal is to be a Marketing Manager or work in advertising at a company that involves fashion, art, or even music. The field is something that I already have an ample amount of experience with. I’ve worked retail and have been a manager at places such as UNIQLO, H&M, and Williams-Sonoma. I’ve even worked/interned for a small independent magazine, helping with marketing and sales. I feel like I’m ready to take the next step. With a degree in my hand, I’ll feel confident and prepared to aim for that dream job.
The one event that really motivated me to apply to your school was actually a simple conversation with somebody I looked up to. A cousin of mine, who is now an Art Director for a PR firm, asked me how I was doing and what aspirations I had for the future. He knew I attended college at Kean University for a few years, and asked why I didn’t finish getting my degree. I basically told him that I felt like they weren’t offering me what I needed. The over crowded classes and style of teaching just weren’t right for me. His simple response to me was, “Why don’t you try a school like FIT? Maybe it’s not college itself, but the college you went to.” That one question has basically led me to where I am today.
After the conversation, I immediately contacted several of my former High School classmates. I knew a couple had attended FIT, so I decided to try and ask them a few questions about their experience with your college. Both ended up graduating and now have great careers. One is an Assistant Buyer at Barney’s and the other is a Project Manager for American Eagle. After speaking to them, I knew this was something I had to do. Working in the fashion field has always been a dream of mine and I can’t picture having a career in anything else.
Hopefully, I’ve proved how determined and ready I am to attend your school. I could go on and on, but in the end, I would just like you to know that attending college at FIT would change my life. The chance to meet teachers and peers that are in the industry is priceless. If I am accepted into your school, it would be an honor. I would take each class seriously, and strive to get the best grades possible. I would be proud to one day say that I graduated with honors at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Hopefully, you give me the opportunity to make it happen.
Do you guys think I should basically redo the entire essay? Anything positive that you see? Also, how do you think I should start off the essay? When you say lesser words, do you think my essay is too long? The essay has a maximum of 750 words.
Answer: some things you may want to cosider:
1. what influence you to develop an interest in the fashion industry
2.describe the kind of career/job you would like to be doing after you achieve the degree from FIT
3.why should admission officers admit you among every other applicants (think about what qualities/characteristics about you that are notable)
4. you may want to sign up for an orientation to take a tour around FIT, just to find out how it's really like there.
5. You should expand your essay more, using lesser words
Question: a little networking project? Introduction
You are the Network Manager at a major finance company. The company operates from a
single Head Office and employs two classes of sales staff who work from their homes.
Recently, the Management has set aside a budget to equip its sales force with a mixture of
portable notebook PCs and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) so that staff can provide
appropriate advice to customers and also create suitable quotes for the company’s products.
As part of this development the sales staff will need to communicate electronically with head
office.
Senior Sales Staff
These members of the sales force will be supplied with a suitable Notebook PC and portable
printer so that they can deliver the company’s message via a PowerPoint presentation,
compile and print suitable quotations for insurance products, check a central database for
available products, perform queries on existing customer records, send and receive e-mail,
and complete sales orders online.
Normal Sales Staff
These staff members will be supplied with a suitable PDA which will allow them to perform
the following tasks; check a central database for available products, perform queries on
existing customer records, send and receive e-mail, and upload completed sales orders.
Note that the key function for both types of user is the ability to communicate with the
company’s central system and therefore the establishment of an appropriate secure data
communications method is of paramount importance.
However, before this can be achieved the expenditure has to be fully justified and a project
plan has to be produced to cover the expected work involved in the implementation of the
new system.
Aims
To produce a feasibility report outlining the case for the provision of a remote working
system within the company and to develop a comprehensive project plan for its
implementation. These two documents will form the basis of a presentation to the
management in order to convince them that the proposed solution is justifiable and practical.
In addition, you are required to produce a brief report detailing the role of Network Manager
in the proposed project.
This assignment has been designed to ensure that you are familiar with the various aspects of
designing, planning, and implementing such a system of remote working within an
organisation.

benefits that you identify.)
Task 2
Produce a comprehensive project plan for the implementation of a remote working system
within the company. This should include the following:
• a brief overview of current data communication technologies which may be employed
including both wired and wireless solutions (detail both hardware and software required)

What do you think i should do
1.Keep the entertainment center
2.Sell it
3.Or trade it
Answer: I would keep it unless you are unhappy with it..new electronic products and computers come out every 6 months, so the depreciation rate on a product is fast, also there are advantages to buying new product technical support warranties and the latest technology..there is not really a market for used computers or electronic gear due to the amount of choices out there unless it has some kinda nostalgic value...you could hang onto it for 10 years and maybe then the price would go up as a classic idem...I know that will probably happen with the Sony PS3 but I doubt it will happen with your computer because there is already product that is available that has more technology faster speed more memory better graphics etc...for less money than what you paid...and this situation will only increase with time..its a lot like cars only at a much faster rate...

Answer: The only people that can answer this question are the people at UIUC. YOu seem to be a well-rounded student, though, so I'd be shocked if they weren't interested in you. However, schools choose different students for different reasons, so no one here can surely state that you'll be accepted.
Question: How has the Information Technology job market in the U.S....? ...been affected by out-sourcing and L1/L1B visa holders?
I was a Novell computer network administrator until 1998 when I moved to Japan to become an assistant English teacher. After 9 years in Japan, I'm thinking of going through the Microsoft certification process (MCSA/MCSE) and looking for an IT job in the U.S. However, I've read that out-sourcing and a large increase in L1/L1B visa holders have made it very difficult to find IT jobs. Is this news true? If there is some truth to it then what specialized areas would be the most likely to have jobs available? I very much appreciate any advice or information. Thank you!
Answer: I became an MCSE in the mid-90s and people were falling all over themselves trying to give me a job even though I didn't have any experience. And they paid me big bucks. Fortunately, I was actually competent. But I met quite a few other paper MCSEs who just couldn't do the work. As a result, salaries went down but demand is still very high. That's why so many people come here on work visas to perform these kinds of jobs. And outsourcing overseas is obviously cheaper, but there are just too many situations where someone needs to be physically present and hands-on, plus have excellent communications skills. Salaries are down from a decade ago as a result, but demand for workers is still high. If you have a degree in computer science or related field on top of recent certifications (which remain a must), and you had some good experience (even if it's a little old), you shouldn't have a problem. I would say definitely pursue an MCSE track, learn Cisco, and if you're at all interested in Linux, look into that. There's a slightly old list of what the hottest certifications are at this link:
http://certcities.com/editorial/features/story.asp?editorialsid=95
By the way, I left that field a few years ago. but I'm still in touch with many of my old friends. No one I know of has had any significant problems landing a job in the past ten years and meeting their salary demands. It's the experience that is most valuable right now, but the certifications are also essential.
Here's some info from the Dept. of Labor:
Job prospects should be best for college graduates who are up to date with the latest skills and technologies, particularly if they have supplemented their formal education with some relevant work experience. Employers will continue to seek computer specialists who possess a strong background in fundamental computer skills combined with good interpersonal and communication skills. Due to the demand for computer support specialists and systems administrators over the next decade, those who have strong computer skills, but do not have a bachelor’s degree, should continue to qualify for some entry-level positions. However, certifications and practical experience are essential for persons without degrees.
Employment of computer support specialists is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through 2014, as organizations continue to adopt increasingly sophisticated technology and integrate it into their systems. Job growth will continue to be driven by the ongoing expansion of the computer system design and related services industry, which is projected to remain one of the fastest-growing industries in the U.S. economy. Growth will not be as explosive as during the previous decade, however, as the information technology industry matures and some of these jobs are increasingly outsourced overseas.
Job growth among computer support specialists reflects the rapid pace of improved technology. As computers and software become more complex, support specialists will be needed to provide technical assistance to customers and other users. New mobile technologies, such as the wireless Internet, will continue to create a demand for these workers to familiarize and educate computer users. Consulting opportunities for computer support specialists also should continue to grow as businesses increasingly need help managing, upgrading, and customizing ever more complex computer systems. However, growth in employment of support specialists may be tempered somewhat as firms continue to cut costs by shifting more routine work abroad to countries where workers are highly skilled and labor costs are lower. Physical location is not as important for computer support specialists as it is for others, because these workers can provide assistance remotely and support services can be provided around the clock.
Employment of systems administrators is expected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations as firms continue to invest heavily in securing computer networks. Companies are looking for workers who are knowledgeable about the function and administration of networks. Such employees have become increasingly hard to find as systems administration has moved from being a separate function within corporations to one that forms a crucial element of business in an increasingly high-technology economy. Also, demand for computer security specialists will grow as businesses and government continue to invest heavily in “cyber security,” protecting vital computer networks and electronic infrastructures from attack. The information security field is expected to generate many opportunities over the next decade as firms across all industries place a high priority on safeguarding their data and systems.
The growth of electronic commerce means that more establishments use the Internet to conduct their business online. This growth translates into a need for information technology specialists who can help org

Answer: Yes this computer would be good but hey sims 3 isnt out yet
Question: Upgrading my laptop. help? hi I am looking to upgrade my crappy laptop. Its a Compaq Presairo F500 that uses:
Windows Vista Home Basic SP1
32 bit operating system
ADM Turion 64x2 mobile technology TL - 50 1.60Ghz
Nvidia 6100 graphics card with 64mb dedicated video memory
69.2GB Hard drive
Nvidia nforce networking controller + HP wireless assistant
I am looking to upgrade my Hard Drive, Graphics card, and maybe my processor. Also my battery only lasts 10 min of the charger. I want to know, if possible to, what upgrades to make and how much they will cost.
Also my wireless wont work. The light next to the little switch to enable/disable wireless wont change for orange to blue and no wireless signals can be found. help please i need to be able to assess the internet again, thanx.
P.S don't have any Cd's for any of the drivers
Answer: you can increase its ram, and the hard drive. you should also upgrade to 64-bit windows vista ultimate. you will see the difference. turion 64X2 works its full potential on 64bit platform even if your softwares are 32-bit, vista will adjust for them.
Question: Which laptop should I get? Ok, I was looking at these 2 laptops, a gateway, and a HP. Based on the specifications, which would you go with. It's a bit confusing. The Blu-Ray with the HP would be nice, so would be the extra memory, but you know! I'm clueless.

Nobody you will be applying to will care if you worked at McDonalds
2nd Under qualifications - you have the longest sentence I have ever read in my life. And you try to use 'power' words that make the reader feel as though you are just filling space. Put an accomplishment in there. Add a little pizzazz-
and for education:
Radiation Sciences, (No Degree.) - instead put ''currenlty pursuing'

Answer: Obviously Toshiba!!!
I have Toshiba gaming laptop too, and it is AWESOME
Question: What possessions do you consider it important to have these days ? for example : a PDA (Personal digital assistant )
A personal digital assistant (PDA) is a handheld computer, also known as small or palmtop computers. PDAs have many uses: calculation, use as a clock and calendar, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving E-mails, video recording, typewriting and word processing, use as an address book, making and writing on spreadsheets, scanning bar codes, use as a radio or stereo, playing computer games, recording survey responses, and Global Positioning System (GPS). Newer PDAs also have both color screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-Area Networks (WWANs). Many PDAs employ touch screen technology.

( out of that list do any of you have any of those possessions ? ? )
or do you have less ?
Answer: I'm not interested in owning the items on your list. The possessions that matter most to me are souvenirs of trips, or sentimental items from dead family members. I do feel lost when for whatever reason I don't have access to my laptop and the Internet.

Answer: You don't need any of these things. I don't anyway. I'm living pay check to pay check right now so I don't go purchasing any of this stuff to make me happy. I'm just glad I have food on the table and a roof over my head. I hope you have both of these. Be grateful for what you have and then you won't think about having materialistic stuff.

Answer: IT SHOULD WORK
Question: Intro Business Questions? With your new found business savvy you have decided to take on the challenges of becoming an entrepreneur and have opened a Marketing and Communications firm call ‘Rev Communications’. The Rev Business model involves creating marketing plans and consulting businesses on what their advertisements, promotions and marketing messages should be to optimize their marketing expenditures. You have surveyed the local market, secured the funding, leased a building and have the foundation in place to start your company and make big dollars. Now you must take on Human Resource activities.
You will require a staff of six people;
Two business development officers to find, meet and communicate with clients. Business development employees should have in-depth experience in networking with private businesses and governments and must be very strong with communication skills; one to one conversations, group meetings, presentations, interacting with government officials, etc. BD officers must also be well-organized, be clean cut and presentable and must also be willing to travel extensively. One BD officer will be the senior development boss with the second person serving as supporting staff.
Three graphic designers to develop concepts, sketch ideas, develop marketing slogans, etc. Graphic Designers must be well schooled and experienced in all the latest IT programs and technologies (‘photoshop’, adobe PDF readers, publisher, etc) and industry experience is a huge advantage. Designers must be reachable 24-7 as customers requiring communications are usually demanding and make requests at the ‘last minute’. The designers should know how to design logos, be creative with slogans, be highly skilled with printers and scanners and should also be frugal in using company resources (paper, colored ink, etc.). Rev communications will have a senior graphic designer in charge of all concept development, followed by a junior designer. The third designer will be a young student, preferably directly from school with little experience and lots of energy (who can be paid a very modest wage to save company costs).
An office assistant to manage calls, emails, pay bills, monitor spending and budgets, etc. There is no requirement for this person to have communications/marketing experience as they will deal with generic office administration matters. This person should be experienced in an office setting and comfortable with managing and flagging budget lines. The office assistant must also be efficient and effective in letter drafting, file management, email correspondence, preparing mail-outs and invoices, handling logistics for meetings and conferences, etc.
Given the positions above, answer the following questions;
A. What would your recruiting strategy be for the Business Development, Graphic Design and Office Manager positions? Where would you post the job offerings? Would your recruiting be internal or external?
B. How would you select your human resources – using interviews, tests (online or paper)? Explain.
C. An important HR consideration is evaluating your Rev employees. Would you choose the simple ranking, forced distribution, graphic rating scale or critical incident method as means of evaluating your people? Could you use the same option for all six employees or would one be preferred over another depending on the job?
D. Everyone loves payday. Explain how you would pay your six employees using one or a combination of the following; salary based on industry standard, merit pay, skill-based pay, knowledge-based pay, sales commission, gain-sharing program, profit-sharing plan.
E. In many cases potential employees are as attracted to the benefits package as they are the salary level. For Rev Communications would you see the value in establishing a wellness program and/or a cafeteria-style benefit plan? (Keep in mind these programs can get to be very expensive, especially for a start-up company such as Rev).
F. Employee turnover is a fact of life in the private sector business world. What would Rev’s Replacement chart look like?
Answer: good luck.
the big bucks makes me laugh, though it could become true
Question: School Tribunal!! please help!? okay so I downloaded firefox portable and used it to connect to a proxy server at my school, however i did not install anything and i did not alter the harddrive, but there are two sections on my schools dicipline list here they are:
Technology/Computer Tampering: (Hacking/Altering Harddrives)
Technology/Computer Misuse: (Innapropriate Internet Use, Disabling, etc.)
The problem is, my Assistant principal dismissed me with a 10 day OSS and Tribunal, but I do not believe I tampered, i just misused the computers.. The difference is that Tampering is 10 days OSS + Tribunal, and Misuse is up to 6 days OSS. I do not believe i should be kicked out of school for going to facebook, and i do not believe i tampered with anything, as the school network would be the same with or without my use of the internet. I own the proxy server and I know it is 100% legal for me to operate, so i wasnt connecting to an illlegal proxy, all i did was misuse the computer to get on facebook because the filters were blocking it. Can anyone help me with this??

Answer: You're up against people who don't understand the technology, that they're charged with overseeing, to begin with.
That said, if you were using a USB stick to run your own version of Firefox, I think I would argue for them to show how you either hacked or tampered with their computer. What you did was tantamount to going to an internet cafe and plugging your USB stick in to a cafe computer.
Since you bypassed the school's firewall to gain access to Facebook they may have you on the inappropriate use accusation and I think I'd argue that point instead.
Know you're screwed going in, and you're going to have to take your punishment for going around their controls, but explain your position in a calm, collected manner. Don't get defensive because that will just hurt your case.
You might also see if there's a policy preventing the use of a USB stick on the school computer.
Whatever you do, don't try to make the assistant principal look like an ass. Be polite and admit what you did, but also you might try asking if you could work with them on perhaps modifying the policy to some degree.
Best of luck to you and I hope that helped!
Question: Is this Computer Tampering or Computer Misuse??? please help!!? okay so I downloaded firefox portable and used it to connect to a proxy server at my school, however i did not install anything and i did not alter the harddrive, but there are two sections on my schools dicipline list here they are:

Answer: It SOUNDS like misuse, and not tampering based on what you have said happened, and what you say the school's definitions are.
You might not believe it but many/most teachers, principals, and especially librarians wish there didn't have to be blocking software on the school networks.
#1 - get the full definitions of the terms from the discipline list and be sure that a reasonable person given the facts would agree that you were misusing and not tampering - ask your parents and or a teacher you know and like for help with this.
I don't know what Tribunal means at your school, but if you are properly prepared for it it might not be that bad.
#2 - Read the resources I've put in my sources below. There are lots of big guns, and little guns who would like to help you. - Figure out if you want to do something about internet filtering at your school by taking the issue to the Principal, School council, PTA, School Board, Superintendent of Schools, Press....
Drop me a line to say how you made out - especially if you pursue #2.

Answer: t's a virtual market place between buyers and sellers of IT services from all over the world. It helps buyers: webmasters, web designers, programmers, software developers and business owners to develop their projects. With this purpose we find sellers of IT services who are freelance workers (these are independent workers who are hired not on salary but on project basis): programmers, copywriters, web designers and translators. They help making the projects at the most convenient for the buyers price . As a result the best work is done at the best price.

Question: What kind of college should I go to for software development? I live in Michigan and need to learn specific skill in computers. Read below and tell me where can I go to learn all of that without having to take courses like my liberal arts. I am looking more for a technical school, but if there is a university i can do this at, please tell me. My high school GPA was 2.0 and my ACT was a 14. I am very interested in public universities, but more importantly learning all of this within a year or less. I am developing a device that requires to learn about GPS technology and programming connections
Here is the perfect paragraph of what I am looking for:
The rapid growth of the Internet has enhanced the role of data communications in modern life. Computer networks are the conduits and the floodgates for this ocean of information, which is now being used to spur technologies such as mobile computing, wireless communications, high-speed broadband, instant messaging, personal digital assistants and other innovations. An entire generation of hardware-including hubs, bridges, switches and routers-was developed to support this modernization. At the same time, protocols and standards are in constant development and refinement to assure that these new information appliances share a common "language" in order to work effectively together.
Answer: Software development starts out as a basic community college program.Try the closest CC.
If that works fantastic for you, you may decide to go after a Bachelors degree sooner or later, but the basic work can be completed at the CC.
