Question: is switching over to a career as a erp consultant suitable for a guy like me who has around 10yrs work exp? iam a mechanical engineer with around 10 yrs experience in marketing, sales ,service of pumping equipment with matured competency in designing and implementing end-to-end fluid handling applications.Iam planning to give my career a new turn by becoming an ERP consultant in the logistics modules of ERP.Iam a quick learner and a multi-faceted personality with demonstrated ability in accomplishing new and challenging tasks.Having been exposed to a wide spectrum of industries in the key area of fluid handling projects,is it worthwhile for me to become an erp consultant?
Answer: It is definitely worth while if you can somehow get your foot into the door. Finding someone who is willing to hire you as a functional ERP consultant will be difficult if you don't have any experience in ERP implementation. If you can happen to work for a company who is considering implementing an ERP solution, you will be a lucky person.
Best wishes.
Question: What is in it for an independent consultant representing a specific company? What is in it for an independent consultant representing a specific company? What do they get out of it, is it like they are sub-wholesalers?
Answer: There is a lot to be gained. You gain friendships, independence, freedom, time, and money.
It is way better than working a 9-5 for the rest of your life and pretty much being a glorified slave.
Question: How long will it taketo become a consultant psychiatrist ? Im 15 and will soon be choosing the college im going to and obviously the career path im going to take.
I was looking at careers i could take and a consultant psychiatrist appealed to me.
How many years will it take for me to become one ?
Can you explain what you do in each year please.
Answer: Well....depends where you are from. I'm a UK medical student in my final year...so for me it's been 5 years so far. From then you do 2 years as a foundation doctor where you do general medicine, surgery and other specialities to try and improve your knowledge and practical skills. After that you apply to become a specialist trainee in surgery/medicine/gp - this can take up to 6 years to become a surgeon, I think it's 4 years for psychiatry but I'm not 100% sure. After this you can begin applying for consultancy posts but this can take years, and you may never get there. In essence you are looking for at least 11 years after you start Uni. Be aware also that medicine is highly competitive to get into and once you are in there is a high rate of people who do not get training jobs and so never become consultants. I'm due to find out tomorrow if I can become a foundation doctor - scary! Good luck.
Question: What are good industries for a computer consultant to target? I want to generate new business, what would be good industries for a computer consultant to target? Companies that are less likely to have "on staff" IT.
Answer: Any and all industries need IT services. Even companies that have their own "on staff" IT people hire extra people as consultants/contractors all the time. Since you are focused on IT, you're probably better off specializing on something specific to IT (network admin, programming, testing, etc.) rather than worrying about the industry. The more experience you have in a particular industry, the better. But if you're just starting out, it's more important to refine your technical expertise; industry is of secondary importance. Go to any and all industries that need your IT skills and then stick with the industry that uses you the most.
Another good thing about targeting companies with their own IT staff is that they usually have enough money to hire you. If you target "mom and pop" shops that can't afford their own IT staff, they're probably going to be penny-pinchers and won't want to shell out the money you require. If you have several clients who are "mom and pops" simultaneously, then you could make a practice out of that (doing miscellaneous technical support and projects on a part-time basis for multiple "mom and pops").
Good luck!
Question: How much experience do you need to be a management consultant? Lots of consultancies like McKinsey and even Accenture hire graduates to do management consultancy. They often have no practical industry experience. Of course both of these companies also hire experienced people. Has your organisation ever had management consultants in and could you tell the ones with experience to the ones without? Or are you, or did you used to be a consultant and is industry experience important, and if so how much? I am 29 and i am hoping to get into management consultancy after i turn 31, is this too young or too old? I have a BA(Hons), MBA, PRINCE2 and ITIL and i am working in internal change management and transformation for a British blue chip in London. I have friends who went into consulting in the mid-twenties and some have found it tough with credibility with clients - they are basically taught a model and role it out at each client site. I want some practical experience before i do it, but i don't want to be too old or too young. Advice please?
Answer: You sound as if you have more than enough experience. To be honest with consultancy, you just need to be able to sound as if you know what you are talking about and be a quick thinker.
Question: How much does it cost for a makeup consultant? I live in the atlanta area and I need to find a makeup consultant. How much do they cost?
Answer: like those before me said, it's free to go to a beauty consultant at a department store like macy's or nordstrom in your mall. they'll obviously try to sell you their products, but they'll also color match you to your perfect shade of foundation and give you tips and tricks as to what colors of eyeshadow, eyeliner, and even mascara are best for your skintone.
the girl above me is wrong though; MAC doesn't require you to buy anything. all you have to do is at least act interested in their products, and then when they're done, tell them you want to look elsewhere. they can't make you buy anything.
Question: How important is a consultant when trying to get an F-1 Visa from India? I have a friend trying to get an F-1 student visa from India to come to US. He was rejected once. He has all the stuff he needs according to the website - how important is it to hire a consultant and what do they do?
Can any consultant promise you a visa?
Answer: A consultant has an advantage in applying for a visa because of greater employment oppurtunities.
Question: How much does it cost to have a Mary Kay consultant to come to your house for a party? I'm thonking of hosting a party and I know the price varies with the consultant but how much does it cost usally?
Answer: Our service is free. To find a consultant in your area go to www.marykay.com and use the consultant locator that way you can speak directly to someone and get details. Have fun!!!
Question: How much would an IT consultant charge to setup a complete Linux Mail server? Does anyone know how much an IT consultant could possibly charge to set up a complete Linux Mail server from start to finish? I'm talking about the whole works here. Remote Admin, Security, User Mailboxes, Quota, Spam Protection, Database setup, Web mail, Outlook facility, auto update and backups, installed on site, etc. Just curious as to what something like this would cost if done professionally?
Answer: You can get the training support to build your own Postfix mail server for around $500 US at
http://www.postfixmail.com
Question: How much would a database consultant charge? We need to know how much a database consultant would charge to design and develop a database for our class project. It is a relatively simple task, but we are clueless as to the cost.
Please be honest, money is not a concern, though knowing the amount is. Also, include sources if available!
Thank you!
Answer: If this is for a commercial project, then i would estimate you would pay $100 an hour minimum for this kind of database consultancy.
If this is for a non-profit school project then get someones' dad to do the database work :-)
Question: What is the proper payment for a marketing consultant? We are launching a business that intends to sell goods to a department store, preferably with an exclusive contract. Our marketing consultant wants 15% of the gross (15% of the contract value) which would be a tremendous amount of money. She says that normally marketing consultants get 20% Is this accurate? What should it be?
Answer: Hi Max,
Yes, that could be about right. Here's the main thing to consider when it comes to marketing. Your marketing costs are one of the biggest investment costs you'll incur for your business. Why? Because it is the thing that drives customers to you. Without customers, you have no business.
Instead of looking at marketing like it is an expense, look at it as an investment in your business success.
Are you willing to invest about 15%-20% of your profits to make a high percentage of money? If your operating expenses are, say, 15%, that leaves you with 60% profit. But, if you have employees, that operating expense number will be higher. So, let's say that your payroll takes up another 25%.
After you calculate all your expenses, if you are still making 20%-40% profit, that could still be a good profit margin depending upon your manufacturing cost of goods.
However, you could just do the marketing yourself. All you have to do is get the training and have the natural aptitude to successfully and effectively do marketing. Take into consideration what a college degree for marketing costs. Let's say anywhere from $40,000 - $100,000. If you had paid that much money for a degree, what would you expect to get back for your investment?
These are all questions to consider when you realize your marketing professional is an investment, the best investment I might add, you'll ever make in your business' success.
So, if you feel happy with your consultant, she seems qualified and capable, that 15% - 20% fee is very reasonable.

Create a great business!

Question: What are the pros and cons of being a Pampered Chef consultant? I just went to a PC party and I am seriously thinking about becoming a PC consultant. I am a stay at home mom that is trying to find a job, but I really don't want to be away from my daughter or pay daycare costs. So, this sounds perfect for me.
So, is it difficult to be successful in this business? Are the sales goals realistic? What does it really take to earn the vacations? Is it hard to find people to book parties?
I know there are a lot of questions. Thanks for answering! Feel free to add anything else too!
Answer: It reminds of selling Avon, Cosmetics. I spent out about $500.00. I did not make a cent. Just a waste of time. These are usually marketing companies. Why don't you start your own business. Not someone else. You are in charge. You might be the next millionaire in this place. What are your gifts. I would take care of children if I was you. I would specialize in early child education and enjoy my life.
You can take a course and work from home. I have hear of incomes over $10,000 U.S. a month people doing this. Always carry liability insurance when running a business. Sweet Dreams. Make sure the course is accredited so you can work outside of the home too. If you want to be a chef, go to a good school. They earned a really good income. You won't regret this decision.
Question: I am a Home Interiors Consultant. What are some good ways to get my name out to gain customers and earn more? I have been a Home Interiors Consultant for over a year and I need to really boost my business. I also work a full time job with alot of over time. It is time to slow down and make Home Interiors take off.
Answer: Hi, you could ask a close friend or family member to hold a presentation for you to help kick start your business. Surely they will invite someone you don't know that would possibly book a presentation from your friend or family. That is what I just did. I am an consultant with a Swiss Skin care company and my neighbor is holding a presentation for me on the 13th of July. I will offer incentitives to the attendees for holding one at their house like paying back their s&h from the one they are attending. Just an idea. Good luck to you. Terri T
Question: How much does a recruitment consultant charge in the UK? How much does a recruitment consultant/agency charge when he/she places a permanent role - specifically IT staff in banking. Whats the going rate?
Answer: Normally around 15-17% of the person's salary - if it's London or a more senior role it could be 20% or even more.
Question: How to write a CV to apply for consultant position? Hi all/
I really want to get in this consulting firm and work in the consulting industry for my career although I just graduated from uni without any prior working experiences in consulting. I did some internships before but not so directly related to what a consultant needs to have.
I really stuck in writing the CV...Could you guys have any advice for me? Or it would be very helpful if you can share with me some key characteristics of a successful business consultant from your experience? Thanks a lot
Answer: If you cannot even write your own CV what gives you the idea that you will be employed as a consultant ?
That makes as much sense as driving a school bus without ever having taken a driving test.
Question: How hard is it to get certified as an indoor tanning consultant? I've applied to Desert Sun Tanning Salon and so far so good. I know I'll have to get certified as an indoor tanning consultant and I was wondering exactly what they have you do once your hired in order to get certified and what typed of things do I need to know?
I never said or thought it would be a big deal. I am asking because I am anxious, excited, and just like to know things ahead of time. Your answer, so far, hasn't been any help.
Answer: They will tell you what you need to know. It is not that big a deal.
Question: How do I become a wedding consultant? I have been interested in becoming a wedding consultant for the past couple of years but I am not sure on how to go about it. I don't know these online, learn at home, websites are legit. If anyone can give me any help, I would appreciate it.
Answer: Well, obviously you realize you need some training first, which is the right way to get started. However, before you get started on training, check with your local Chamber of Commerce or Business Development group to determine what the minimum requirements are in your City, County, and State for licensing, since you will most like need to register your business and obtain the appropriate licensing.
Once you have determined municipal requirements, the best route would probably be certification of some type. Certification is offered by a number of institutes of higher learning, including many local community colleges, as well as some universities that offer a Continuing Education program. For example, California State University, East Bay campus offers Wedding Planner certification upon completion of a prescribed set of courses on their campus. The University of Akron offers a blend of online and classroom courses for their certification. So check with local colleges and see what they offer.
As far as the online certifications go, if you are unsure as to their validity, perform an online search on the organization offering the certification. If there are previous consumers who have had bad experiences, you can be sure you will find statements to that effect online. Typically if the certification is offered directly by a national/international professional organization, such as the ACPWC, they are probably legitimate. And belonging to one of these professional organizations will usually get you a discounted price for the courses. Also, being a member of a professional organization will help keep you up to date on current and emerging trends; it will also point out your professionalism on business cards and advertising when you are looking for business.
One final suggestion: look up several wedding planners in your yellow pages and ask a few questions as if you were looking for a wedding planner yourself:
What type of training do you have?
Are you certified?
Where did you obtain your certification?
Are you a member of any professional organizations?
Answers to these questions can also help you determine which is the most appropriate way for you begin.
Good luck.
Question: How do you start a minority owned business? Do you need a consultant? I'd like to start a minority owned business. Is it the right path to hire a consultant to help with all of the applications? Or does the SBA help you for free? Thanks!
Answer: A minority owned business is just like any other business, except that it is majority-owned by a minority. Like any other businesses, a consultant is not required but the business owner can opt to use one if deemed necessary. Many businesses have started and thrived well even without consultants.
If you need help, the following can help you, just check for the location nearest you:

Minority Business Development Agency http://www.mbda.gov/ (a very good resource for you)
Question: What schooling do I need to get throught to become a fashion consultant? Also, is it too much to be a radio talk show host and a fashion consultant?
Sorry, I mean "through"
I'm currently in my first at a community college, and after I am planning to go to a University for 2 more years to get my degree in Psychology. Is this situation considered a "choose one" situation or can I work on both at the same time?
Answer: Most likely you will have to go through some art/color theory classes in order to do anything with fashion. And yes, you could also be in a radio talk show as well.
Question: What does it mean for someone with a computer science degree to be a consultant? I had a temporary job once in which before I left, the boss said in his evaluation that I would be good as a consultant. He didn't mean his company as there were no positions available. What did he mean - who would I consult for and what do they do?
Answer: Fancy word for a contractor, not a full-time employee of the company. I'm going to assume the boss had your best intentions at heart when he/she said this, and therefore meant that your best chances for employment in the current location, market, etc. would be to work as a contractor.
Question: Consultants ? If you are a consultant do you need to give your social security number.? My friend is a consultant and helps people boost there business profit. She has one client who wants her social. Noone has ever asked for it before. She is just paid by check from her other clients and does her own taxs. Her accountant is i in Europe of the next month and she doen't understasnd this and is naturally hesititant to give it out with the incidence of identy theft etc. Can someone give me someinfo on this for her. We are in California.
Okay I have recieved some answers...so now I want to know if you pay someone like your Doctor to give you Botox or go to the hairdresser more then normal for the same reason... to look good in ones profession would that be a deduction and can't you ask for his/her s s# then as it would be way over the 600.00 per year. or even ones tax man would be over that and she doesn't get his ss# or an attorney. how is it different? .
Okay I have recieved some answers...so now I want to know if you pay someone like your Doctor to give you Botox or go to the hairdresser more then normal for the same reason... to look good in ones profession would that be a deduction and can't you ask for his/her s s# then as it would be way over the 600.00 per year. or even ones tax man would be over that and she doesn't get his ss# or an attorney. how is it different? .
Answer: Some companies ask for social security numbers regardless of whether or not they pay $600 or more. The reasoning is that if they need that subcontractor (consultants are considered subcontractors) again then they're prepared if they do pay $600 and have to issue a 1099. Some companies even issue 1099's to subcontractors who earned less than that during the year.
Whether or not she makes enough to be issued a 1099, it is perfectly acceptable, even encouraged, to ask for a tax identification number from any prospective vendor. A social security number is just a personal tax id number rather than a business one. Having a tax id number is one way to help ensure that you're doing business with a reputable company/firm/individual.
Question: Can I transfer the H1B visa obtained through a consultant to some other employer before travelling to US? I have got H1B visa through a consultant in US. Is it possible to use that visa to work for some other employer, before travelling to US?
Answer: Not a chance. If you want to keep the H-1, you will need to get your stamping, go to US, work for the sponsoring employer for at least 3 months to get 3 months worth of valid pay stubs. Then another employer can file the H-1B transfer. That is very bad practice though and will permanently give you a bad repulation with US consulting companies...they paid a lot of money to sponsor your visa, so if you want to keep a good reputation in the USA you should at least work for the company for a year. You are the one that let them sponsor you and got suckered into a bad contract, now be a man and suck it up.
The only time you don't need the pay stubs is if you are already present in the US and working for the employer, and the H-1B is a change of status (ie. you are already employed with the sponsoring employer under some other visa category like L-1 or TN before the H-1B).
Question: Does working as a consultant look bad on your resume? I have been working as a consultant for the past 2 years (both 1 year contracts). I am currently looking for work, however, someone told me that not being a permanent can look really bad on your resume. I hear it is difficult to impress an employer in an interview when you have to explain why you are a consultant and not a permanent employee.
I was wondering if working as a consultant looks bad on your resume. Also, what can you say in an interview to impress an employer if you were not a permanent? Can anyone help me out?
Answer: I dont think this looks bad, I work at an ad agnecy and they hire freelancers all the time who do just what you described. Most f the time they ask them to work full time when their contract is up. Are you now trying for a permanent position? Just say you have enjoyed working on a project basis so you can see it through from start to finish, since you completed your goal it was on to then next project. However, you would now like to find something where you can work on a longer basis and grow with a company
Question: How can I legally get paid as an independent business consultant? I want to approach a local business in Florida, about how a unique marketing & pr campaign that I think they can start doing immediately! However, I'm totally confused about what type of "legal business" I have to be... in order to formally present this to them, and seek any fee of any kind?
I guess I'm just trying to ask, is it legal to be considered a "freelance consultant"... that is, until I end up with several clients? After which, then, I'd be able to afford becoming a "real business"?
Answer: You can offer goods or services as a sole proprietor to anyone. You can give your business a name like "Smith Marketing Systems". I doubt that Florida has any licensing requirements for what you are looking to do but you could check with city hall. If you do some work for a business that exceeds $600 in a calendar year, they are obligated to issue a 1099 to you. They would require a completed W-9 for your business information and tax number.

Question: What to do?Where to seek help when the Travel Consultant made a mistake in issuing my air ticket? The travel consultant issued my ticket based on my e-mail address which is my alias. He kept on replying to my e-mail that there is nothing he can do when the ticket is already issued. When I have proof with me that I went to their office to correct my name and he even issued me a cofirmation of my reservation. Is that really how this travel agency treat their customer that instead of solving the problem they will just deny it.
Answer: Are you saying that they issued a ticket for you and it's the wrong name on it (or it's mispelt)?
The main problem is that once a ticket is issued, it's extremely hard to make a name change, simply because most IATA (intl air transport agency) regulated agencies or travel on IATA linked airlines will refuse to make a name change because of fraud. I would suggest you get in touch with the agency asap and get it sorted, possibly even speak to a manager in person. Were you only dealing with them via email and not face to face? Did the agent go through the itinerary details with you and made sure your name was as per your ID? I'm afraid it might be your word against their agent's but you would probably need to speak to a manager about this. Good luck!
Question: What is your favorite thing about Mary Kay as a consultant or a customer? My favorite thing is The PRODUCT!!!! I love it and wont use anything else and as a consultant i love getting my half off on my product.
Answer: Hi I actually really love the positive group effect that is all about Mary Kay. I know it sounds kinda dorky but I went from working in offices where people would just be crabby & complain all day long to working in Mary Kay where little things that we each accomplish were a big deal! It's really changed my mind about where I want to work full-time and I'd rather work in a positive place vs. a negative one.
I also love the product & the 1/2 price aspect! Which is actually why I joined but I also joined bc of the positive aspect
Question: when you are an independant consultant for a firm do you typically sign a contract agreement? I have been offered an hourly rate at a well known industrial company. I will be an independent consultant working in the IT department. The firm wrote an email to me with my hourly rate, but I have been given no contract. Is this normal?
Answer: It's not abnormal, if you agree to the rate go ahead, save all emails and make sure they pay you that much. If you think you really need a contract ask them to draw one up for you detailing the requirements of your employment.
Question: Do you have to file and special paperwork to be a consultant? To make a long story short my company is folding and my primary customer wants to hire me full time. But that screws my severence package. But if I am a consultant, not an employee, I can work around it. So do I have to do anything special with the government, especially for tax purposes? Or just take the money, and claim it at the end of the year on taxes?
Answer: It may depend on what country you are in. In the U.S. there is nothing special. You will do work for your various customers and receive a 1099 at the end of the year. Be sure to keep track of your estimated taxes because you will be responsible for filing those yourself. It might be a good idea to be actively doing some other work to avoid being reclassified as an employee if you are really only working for one company.
Question: How does one become a Consultant after Med School in Australia? Assuming that you were to graduate from an Australian MB-BS/MD program with good marks, what are the next steps towards becoming a consultant physician in Australia?
What do terms like JHO and SHO mean?
Do the training (ie Residency) periods differ in time between the different specialties?
Is it difficult to match into an Australian training/residency program if one graduated from a reputable overseas school?
Thank you very much! :)
Answer: To enter into any Residency program you need to be an Australia citizen (so if you graduated from an overseas school you would need to be a citizen first which means working in a hospital system as a general doctor for 4+ years). This requirement also now covers overseas people who went to an Australia school and were not citizens of Australia prior to starting med school.
Residency programs vary from 3-6+ years depending on the speciality. You do not "match" into Australian programs - you apply. Many things are taken into account including the number of years you have worked at the hospital as an RMO, JMO (Junior Medical Officer, Resident MO, some hospitals call this House officer), what other degrees you have (Diploma of Child Health etc) and your personality. Then you apply and iff selected for an interview you have a chance. When you are selected you are assigned an area. e.g. you may live in Adelaide but you are assigned to Qld for training (including rural training - so some time (12 months) may be in Townsville.
From what I understand the American system is that you "match" straight out of medical school, in Australia for the short Residency program you only apply 2+ years out of medical school and for the longer Residency programs its more like 5-10 years of experience that is required to get in.
Question: How can I start a consultant business? I have a good consultant idea and ave started a business plan. What is the best way to actually go ahead with the plan and get started. I know there are companies out there that will let you join their francise but i want to be able to control my idea nad not have it changed or stolen.

Could you genius figure it out?
Answer: A real estate agent is someone with a eal estate lisence from the state.

Question: How much would an Electrical and Industrial engineering consultant cost? How much would an Electrical and Industrial engineering consultant cost?
In one of my classes, our group had to create an invention. And with that we have explain how much the cost of the product would be. My group wants to make a desk with an outlet. Does anyone have an idea how much a consultant would cost or where i can get the information?

Question: How do I promote a new company when I'm the only consultant in the state? I am a consultant for Booty Parlor Parties, and I am the ONLY active consultant in Michigan. It's a relatively new company compared to some of the other romance companies, so not too many people have heard the name. What is the best way to make the name known in my area and get parties booked and recruit new consultants without breaking the bank?
Answer: Sell yourself. A night out with the girls buying romantic products. The brand is irrelevant. Just go to your friends and a party for merchandise. The call is universal whether Booty Parlor or Pampered Chef, it is something everyone is interested. Tell everyone this is brand new in Michigan and will take off. Ask them if they want to be on the ground floor. The answer will be YES!!! What a great opportunity. Be excited about your product. Right now, YOU are Booty Parlor.
Good Luck
Question: What will be the job description to give a recruitment consultant in a health care sector? i wonder what to write as job description.for a recruitment consultant i guess he should be the one writing it to get the job but i have to write it now to get him/her into the company. please some points job description for a recruitment consultant in health sector
Answer: I am afriad this doesn't make a great deal of sense! Are you wanting suggestions for an advert you are placing, looking to recruit a recruitment consultant? If so, and I don't meant to be rude, but you will need to start with some more clear english! There are thousands of ads for recruitment consultants every day, just search major job sites and you will see how they are advertised.
If, however, someone is applying for a job as a recruitment consultant that is a little different. More details please though if you want a decent answer! :)
Question: How long does it take to be a consultant psychiatrist? can anyone give me precise info on how long it takes to be a consultant psychiatrist and any websites relating, and i also wan to know if i can study medicine in any uni?
Answer: For a master's it takes about 4-6 years. If you want to prescribe any medication you'd have to also study medicine.
I hope my answer helped.
If you know the answer to my question I'd really appreciate it!
Question: What is the procedure for hiring a Singapoe-based consultant by a US-based company? I own a company based in the US and wish to employ a Singaporean local based in Singapore to carry out the business activities in South East Asia. What do I need to do in order to hire this individual in Singapore? Is it necessary to open a representative office (RO) in Singapore? Can it be done without opening one? What are the various options available to me in order to hire this Singaporean consultant?
Answer: You can either appoint an agent or a representative in Singapore as that may cost much less compared to opening an office where rental and hiring of backup staff can add-up to quite a bit.
I conduct my own business as well and travel often to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar. I might be able to assist in those areas.
Question: Is it bad business practice to become an independent consultant in the same field your company is in? Work for a consulting engineering firm, will get licensed in about 4 years. Is it unprofessional if I do some side jobs apart from my company as a consultant?
didn't sign a non-compete agreement
Answer: Oh, come on...like you really give a sh*t if it is bad business practice!
Question: Is there in training needed to become a leasing consultant for a property management company? I'm interested in becoming a leasing consultant but I don't know the steps that need to be taken. Would it be the same thing for real estate as well?
Answer: Yes you need several courses in real estate before you can do this.
Question: What is the yearly salary of a wedding planner / consultant ? I am thinking of taking this path as a wedding planner/consultant, and was wanting to know their yearly salary
Doing my HSC (if you know what it is) this year, thinking pursuing this =)
Answer: Wow I wouldnt have a clue but what a great job choice helping ppl on the most important day of their lives. Good luck with that. I guess it would depend how many weddings you do so a better question maybe how much do they earn per wedding.
Question: Is it worth it to become a Tastefully Simple consultant? I'm considering becoming a Tastefully Simple consultant. Is it really worth the investment ($170 for supplies, etc.) to start off? Their products are wonderful, but I'm wondering if this is the best time to start a part-time business like this since we're in such a sucky recession.
Answer: I've been with TS for 6 years and LOVE my job:) Everyone has to eat and with gas prices sky high, people will be spending more time closer to home, looking for fun things to do. What better way to get together with friends and family and have a fun taste testing party. They then get to go home and amaze people with their goodies and new yummy recipes! Good luck!
Question: which type of financial consultant should I get if I want advice on obtaining venture capitalist money? I am interested in starting a special type of investment fund in which I buy small businesses and improve their net profit, then sell the business for a profit. I know that it is necissary to prove to potential investors that my venture will be lucrative and that I am a good businessman, and
I have a few specific questions regarding how to best go about attracting potential investors .
Which type of consultant should I seek, or where can I go to get help/more information on this subject?
Answer: Getting VC financing is very difficult. They are looking for the combination of a compelling product/technology and the technical and managerial talent to make it a reality. It is often more about the team and your ability to build a business around either a new technology, product(s) or a powerful business model that it is a specific idea.
Its important to understand that VCs primarily invest in great management teams and/or exceptional technologists. So, if you don't have the background and/or track record of success, I strongly recommend you get it before pitching your idea. Generally, you need to be a successful entrepreneur, have several years of senior corporate experience in the right area for your venture or be an expert in the field of your products/business model. If you don't want to wait until you acquire the knowledge yourself, you need to recruit it into your team.
If you've got the goods, research the vc firms to find those that invest in your product/business area. Then, network to get a referral if possible. It is much better to get a referral than mailing your plan in. VCs get hundreds of busines plans & pitches and it is very hard to standout if you mail it in. Make sure you are really prepared with a well-thought presentation and be prepared to answer questions about your market and competition. Having a great presentation is more important the a written business plan.
An attorney or business associate can be a good place to get a VC referral. You also can network among business executives in the field of your business. Don't try to get a referral to just any VC. You want one that is interested in your particular type of business. VC's websites can be helpful at indicating their investment focus (and can show you if they already invested in a competitive venture) but they are often very broad when in reality they favor certain sectors that change over time with the business climate. Again, networking with executives that have received funding or pitched to a particular VC is the best way to gather insight if you don't know any VCs to ask directly.
The National Venture Capital Association (nvca.org) has a lot of information including a listing of members. But remember, target those that are focused on your business segment. Good luck.
