Question: Environmental technician career? I have a pending conformation to college for and environmental technician course. Before i confirm it to go to school in September, I was wondering what kind of careers will be available. What will i be doing on the work field, is it a government job? Will I just be picking up city garbage? What's going to be available for me as a career if I want a government paid job with benefits and such?
I've already looked on Google and there's tons of jobs so its frustrating and overwhelming. Thanks for helping!
Answer: When someone buys a parcel of land, they hire an environmental examiner. By having the inspection and report, the buyer avoids some future liability if the land is later found to have toxins on it. You might be the one who works at a computer checking out the history and the previous uses. Or you might be the person onsite who is drilling for a core sample. You won't be picking up garbage.
The problem is that the schools are graduating 100 "technicians" for every 1 job opening. It gets worse if you borrow money to attend the school. No job and a loan to repay.
Question: Anyone hiring naturalists or field research techs? My partner and I are very motivated environmental educators and field science technicians with substantial experience. Does anybody know of open positions this spring/summer for which we could apply? We can be very flexible with location and duration of opportunities! Thank you all.
Grunting Caterpillar- Wow, you are really wasting your time... and dignity.
Answer: Check out these sites for seasonal positions:

Question: An honest opinion about Las Vegas...? My husband and I have just sold our home in Virginia and would really like to move back to the western US. We love the Vegas area (not the strip). I know that the housing is really low right now and would be a good time to buy....BUT...I need to know about the potential for employment. I am finishing my degree in environmental management and will be done by June. My husband will continue at his job in Iraq until next fall, but then he will need to get a job in Vegas also (his field is occupational safety). I know what I've read about the employment rates out there, but can anyone give me advice on these the availablity of jobs in these two fields? I am a licensed massage therapist and nail technician as well and could do spa work to tide me over if necessary.
If not Las Vegas than any suggestions (other than cities in the Northeast) where environmental and safety jobs are in high demand?
Answer: You're right, it's definitely a buyer's market right now. With the skills you mentioned you should be able to find work just fine. Your husband may have a little harder time. Check out indeed.com. It consolidates all the job postings in the area to one site. Good Luck!
Question: How do you become an environmental science technician? I'm interested in a career change and was wondering how you get into this field. Does it require a four-year degree? I have a bachelor's degree in journalism and I'd like to switch to a career where I'm not sitting in an office all day. I also have a strong interest in the outdoors and nature.

Question: I need help! I am 25 years old and looking to change career paths.? I am planning on moving to Canada to be with my girlfriend within the coming months and I am totally clueless as to what profession I can look into while I am up there. I currently hold a degree in Graphic Design [a field I have come to hate/have difficulty finding work in] and need something a bit more stable. I have looked into the trades - knowing full well that they are in GREAT demand up in Canada - but none of them seem to jump out at me. I am a very creative minded person who doesn't want to have to resort to doing something I am going to regret because it doesn't involve creativity. I have been more interested, recently, in environmental college programs such as Ecosystem Management Technician but I am not sure if that type of field would be one that would be in demand once I graduate.
Please, I need some help because, at this point, I am totally lost and would just like to have as much input as possible. Thank you all so very much for taking the time to help with my concerns
Answer: dude. you should sell blow

Question: Can you request to redo you resume if you accidentally send it off with a mistakes on it? Yesterday I spoke to a woman over the phone about a position that she posted on the career builder website. The position did not have enough details so I called to ask about that and then she asked me about my background and said she would flag my resume once it comes in. I faxed in my cover letter and resume on the same day that I spoke to her. Then I woke up this morning and looked over my resume and cover letter. i realized that I made minor mistakes on it!! I'm so upset and embarrassed now. I accidentally forgot to add the word "position" between technician and in.
This is the objective I sent to them: To obtain an entry level laboratory technician in an environmental sciences field.
I should have wrote: To obtain an entry level laboratory technician position with an environmental science company or To obtain an entry level laboratory technician position with __________(name of the company).
Also in my cover letter, i capitalized Laboratory Technician and i dont think im supposed to do that. I'm so mad that I sent it off like that.
Can I call back the place where I applied to and ask them if I can redo my cover letter and resume? I don't want them to hold what I wrote before against me.
Answer: those mistakes are so minor - forget about it - pointing out to them that you made those mistakes will not help you - forget about it - if yuo wind up getting an interview - say NOTHING about the mistakes - if they ask for another resume - just give them a corrected copy
Question: Laboratory - who is in charge? please tell me,i'm Bachelor of Science in field Environmental protection ,and going to ask fo a job as a Laboratory Technician /assistant or something like this , but the point is - for who i should ask? Laboratory Manager ? Director? Secretary at reception propably will bin my cv :)
****probably***
Answer: I work for a lab (we test construction materials) we have a Lab Manager, but we also have a General Manager who over sees everyone.
When a job is advertised and even when someone just sends there CV in it generally goes to the General Manager.
Sending it to the Lab Manager won't do any harm, but it always helps to go to the head honcho!
Good luck!
Question: Civil engineering job hunting advice HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!? Entry level civil engineering job help!!!!!!!!!!!?
I've been unemployed since last june. I've tried everything I can think of for a job. I've tried:
-USAjobs
-USACE
-CAD technician
-any type of field engineer
-cold calling
-online applying
-construction,surveying, environmental, transportation, structural etc jobs.
-temp agencies
-head hunters
I can't think of ANYTHING else to do. I can't go to grad school because of money but I just don't know what else to do. Anyone have any suggestions other then going to the military?
Answer: here are a few options:
-go to company websites and apply for internships there. When they see that you already have a diploma, you would stand out.
-go to craigslist.com and search for jobs in your area. Companies have to pay to post on craigslist.com, so those are legit openings.
-Look up firms near you and visit them in person.
-Instead of just looking for anything, you should choose a specific field. tell that to the companies so they think you are interested in that specific position as opposed to any engineering job out there.
i hope this helps

Answer: In my "other life", I'm the Department Manager of Environmental Services for a nation-wide consulting firm. I've spent many years "in the field" and many hours wearing a hard hat, steel-toed boots, Nomex coveralls, latex gloves and a respirator. When in the field, dress for the field. When dressing for the interview, you want to look your best - if you have a suit, wear it. Anybody can "dress down" for the field, but for a job interview you want to look like a "future-manager-in-training". Get it?
