Question: What can my husband do to help his back pain? My husband joined the Air Force and was discharged with severe back pain. We are waiting to get him into a back specialist until his insurance kicks in. (He was lucky enough to be able to get his old job back.) They aren't sure what he has, they are thinking Degenerative Disc Disease, Herniated Disc, Compressed Vertebrate, or Scoliosis. What can he do to relieve some of the pain? He wants to continue being active but doesn't want to damage anything worse. What can he do until we can get him in? What things should he avoid? He wants to keep doing pt in case he can reenlist, but doesn't want to damage himself worse.
Answer: Tell him to immediately start stretching and yoga, yes yoga I am a personal trainer here next to base and have alot of these come through. Usually the hamstrings are to blame. Also have him start abs work outs. Zero impact untill the problem is diagnosed no running jogging only oliptical

Question: What could this be...? My cousin is about eight years old, she has been having to go for numerous blood tests, and the specialists can not figure out what is wrong with her. She says that her ribs hurt a lot, like they are compressing her lungs, and she has a hard time breathing. She does not have asthma. At night she says it feels like her stomach area is "filling up with air," she told me that it kind of expands, but she still can not breathe well. In the morning she coughs a lot until she wakes up a bit. She says it sounds like "a gorilla dying," and today when we were at the park she told me she was really dizzy, and it happens a lot. Does anyone have any idea of what this might be? I really want to help her figure it out, because she does not like having to keep going for all these blood tests ... I feel really bad. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :) I just want her to be okay...
It's been quite a few months now and she is going for her 12th blood test tomorrow ... and she is dizzy quite often, not just when we went the the park :(
We had also just finished dinner, so she had eaten recently, but she did not drink much, I don't believe.
Answer: She needs to drink more water and if that does not help...she needs to go to a specialist.
