Question: Is electrical engineering and electronic engineering the same or studied under the same major? I'm finding it hard to find a university that offers electronic engineering as a major.
Answer: Electrical Engineering may or may not include Electronics Engineering. It depends on a university's policy. So it is better for you to call the university to see whether or not Electronics Engineering is included in Electrical Engineering.
Question: what is the difference between electronic engineering and electronics ? I have face this when choosing my field of study in university. my exact question is that is there any differences between electronic engineering ( a part of electrical engineering) and electronics?
Answer: The key difference in the two terms is the word ENGINEERING. The electronics engineer (Electrical Engineer) studies the deepest recesses of electronics, it's structure, laws and theories. Just the study of electronics can represent a varying range of just application of theories that may not be completely understood if at all.
Kinda like the difference between Automotive Engineering and driving a car. Go for the engineering side, it is harder but well worth the effort and the rewards are significantly higher.
Question: What is more difficult, computer science or electronic engineering? What is more difficult, computer science or electronic engineering? I'm just curious. I want to major in one or the other but to take the path of least resistance. Which one is harder?
Answer: Everything is easy as long as one studies well and practice much.
You could "easily" master any of the above if you would like to, you just need to choose what you think is "enjoying" for you. then go ahead.
Don't bother with difficulty/simplicity. Bill Gates is not a genuis, but he likes his work. That's it :)
Good Luck
Question: What is the best CSU to go to if you are taking Electrical/Electronic Engineering major? I'm planning on going to a CSU to finish my general ed first, then maybe going a UC to finish my majors. So if you can, please also include the name of the best UC to go to for my Electrical/Electronic Engineering major. Thank you!
Answer: You can get an Electrical Engineering degree or an Electronics Engineering Technology degree.
The best CSU for Electrical Engineering is probably San Jose State (assuming you don't count CalPoly-SLO as a CSU).
Incidentally, San Jose State also has a very good degree in Electronics & Computer Technology.
No CSU offers Electronics Engineering Technology, but CalPoly-Pomona does.
Question: Can i think of using Applied Mathematics in Electronic engineering problems? Hello respected sir,
I have just passed my A-level in mathematics+physics. I am considering a career in applied mathematics because I love to be challenged by math and would like to figure out ways to use maths in electronics engineering, especially in communications theories. Signals, waves, etc.
But I am not sure that should I become an electronics engineer or go to a PhD in applied mathematics? I am in confusion that if I am not an electronic engineer, how would I be able to solve complex problems in this field? Thanks for giving me some time.
Answer: Mathematics is a much broader consideration than engineering mathematics. We are required to take some mathematics in electrical engineering, but that is only a small subset of mathematics.
For instance, Linear Algebra. Sounds innocent enough. Personally one of the most difficult classes I had taken. In mathematics they delve into the reasoning behind mathematics and why things are as postulated. Mathematics is more of an art.
In engineering mathematics we use math as a tool. The math is not the main purpose in our efforts, a construction or product is our main concern. In all the subfields of electrical engineering, we dominantly use very little mathematics directly. We use software programs to simulate aspects of engineering for us. We use some applied mathematics, but Calculus and Differential Equations would be about the limit to which most of us would deal with mathematics in engineering.
If you love mathematics, study mathematics. Don't become an electrical engineer to learn about mathematics.
I knew a man who was undecided and he obtained his bachelors degree in mathematics. He then decided to go to medical school, where he became a general surgeon. He easily could have chosen to become an electrical engineer from the same point in life.
You would need to take the core classes in whatever field you choose. But if mathematics is your love, you don't need to choose an engineering focus right away.
To see what employment opportunities might be awaiting you in mathematics, you might contact the employment office at Sandia National Laboratories. They do high-tech research and there are many Mathematicians employed:
http://www.sandia.gov/employment/index.html
Also, the CIA hires more mathematicians than any other organization in the United States.
Question: How good is it to select Electronic Engineering as you career? I have got admission in BS Electronic Engineering. I want to ask that is it a good field to chose? Are there abundant jobs for the Electronic Engineers? How good or bad would be my future?
Answer: You can't tell the future.
I graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1975. For the next 15 years I kept my eye on the job markets, even though I had a mediocre jobs working at shipyards, the highway dept., and corps of engineers.
I wished I had chosen EE as my carreer. There were many more job opportunities in this field. The want ads was loaded with EE ads, where CE ads were just a few. This use to piss me off. If I only could go back and change it.
Also, knowledge of anything electrical will help you in other fields besides just engineering. My degree was more restrictive in regards to oportunities.
The future might hold more opportinities for EE's than the past, but this is just my guess.
Question: What should I major in if I want to go into electronic engineering/design? I am currently in my freshman year majoring in electrical engineering, my school does not offer electronic engineering. I am unsure wether I should be in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
Answer: If you are unsure of which major to choose, I would go with the more broad major, which in this case seems to be electrical engineering. You can always specialize more later, such as by focusing more on design. Computer engineering is usually a more specific major and might give you less flexibility later on.
On the other hand, if the courses in computer engineering are more interesting to you, just go with that major. As long as you have a degree in some type of engineering, many employers and graduate school programs are flexible as to which type.
Question: Can anyone tell that whether i can get job in ISRO through electronic engineering? Can anyone tell that whether i can get job in ISRO through electronic engineering? I want job in aerospace,is their any work for an electronic engineer in ISRO like for building artificial satellite??
Please tell me sOOn...
Answer: If you have a brilliant degree in electronics engineering you can get a job in ISRO provided you satisfy their requirements.
Question: i want to get a degree in computer or electronic engineering? i want to get a degree in computer or electronic engineering but not sure if devry is worth going. I want to attend community college and then transfer out but not quite sure what classes are needed. I also wanted to know if it is possible to major in both or just one. I like working on computer alot but also like working on electronics such as ipods tv's.
Answer: I wouldn't suggest you go to these school's they advertise on TV. Go to community college the first two years to save some dough and then transfer to a state school to finish up your degree. No one knows what classes they need until they enroll and start taking classes. If you go to a legit program they will have advisers that will help you plan your degree.
I would suggest doing computer engineering. It typically involves some programming and computer background along with a heavy dose of electrical engineering courses. It is a very useful degree and as long as the economy starts to look up you should have many job prospects.
Keep in mind that engineering is notoriously difficult and realize that you will be doing a lot of studying. If you don't like math then you might want to reconsider. Make it through, grab an internship, and you will see success. Good luck.
Question: What is an average starting salary for someone with an associates degree in electronic engineering? What is an average starting salary for someone with an associates degree in electronic engineering?
Answer: Any where from $12 to $20/Hr. At least in North Carolina. Plus depends on experience too. I say more than $16/Hr. will be with some experience.
Question: Electronic Engineering? Are there any good high paying jobs in Hawaii can anyone do me a favor and search because I dont know where to find?
Answer: www.monster.com
www.dice.com
Question: what is the annual expenses for the electronic engineering degree at Australia? Can someone give me an idea about how much I'll have to pay annually to the university if I'm doing an electronic engineering degree in Australia? I just want to have an idea about the expenses for the university. give me a roughly value
thanks in advance
Answer: It varies at every uni and I think you pay by subject so it also changes depending on what modules you decide to pick up. Some uni's in Adelaide are Adelaide Unverstiy, University of South Australia(unisa) and Flinders Uni. You should be able to contact them online to find out or at least get an idea, I wouldn't like to say how much it would cost as I might be wrong.
Question: Which are the best universities for electronic engineering in Texas? i want to know about good colleges for electronic engineering.
espacially in Dallas
Answer: SMU, UT-Dallas, and UT-Arlington are in the area and have your major. Certainly any of them is an excellent college for your first year or two - then you can decide if another is better for your career if your grades are good enough to transfer.
Of the three, I suggest UT-Arlington as the best engineering department but that is subjective.
For what it's worth, the best EE I ever employed was from U Alabama - he talked funny, but could make designs that were pure poetry.
Good luck to you
Question: What to apply Software or Electronic Engineering? I graduated with a 2:2 in Computer Systems Engineering.
Am i best applying for sortware based jobs or Electronic engineering based jobs.
yeah the course was half electronic engineering and half computer programming, i just wanted to find which was the best for finding employment?
Answer: Electronic Engineering is more likely to need skills like circuit design and such, were you trained in those areas?
Question: Is it possible to get degree in electrical and electronic engineering after doing National Diploma!? I am nearing finishing my National Diploma in electrical and electronic engineering and i am just asking if this would make it possible to go for degree.
Kind Regards
Answer: After getting a Diploma there is an option to get admitted directly to second year of engineering.
You'll have to check with colleges to identify the admission procedure.
Hope this helps..
Question: is reverse engineering part of an electronic engineering degree? I enjoy working with electronics, and i am going to Wentworth for electronic engineering in September, but i would like to work on cracking the ps3, and i was wondering if reverse engineering was part of the curriculum or if i would just gain the knowledge needed then figure the rest out, or whats up?
Answer: Reverse engineering is not a formal course in an engineering curriculum, but an investigative technique. The original engineering design of an object is inferred from a detailed valuation if an object already made and on hand.
It works like this, you get one of theirs, you figure out how it works, you make one too. In some cases it is called industrial espionage. For instance toy manufacturere are very careful to prevent this. The Germans with their Enigma code machine and the Allies in WWII with the Norden bomb sight were also careful to prevent the devices from falling into enemy hands to be "reverse engineered"..
Question: Are there any careers that have to do with electronic engineering, that has a lot of traveling in it? Any jobs geared toward the electronic engineering field that has alot of traveling required or needed some times?
Answer: If you find a job where the company product is sold to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), then your product goes to another company that uses it to make their product. For example, you sell the disks in HDDs to a HDD manufacturer. They then put it together with the rest of the components to sell a HDD.
What happens here is that often the engineering teams need to go to the OEM site for various work (engineering, QA, design, etc.). So if you can find a company that needs your skills and they work with customers that are OEMs, you can end up travelling.
Or you can do technical sales. Use your degree as knowledge. Sales people travel quite a bit.
Good luck.
Question: Would a student of Electronic Engineering use MLA or APA format for citation? IDK how much more detail I can add lol. I need to write a citation. I'm an Electronic Engineering student. Idk what format to write it in.
Answer: You can't go wrong when using MLA.
Question: Is creating/designing electronics/tech stuff considered electronic or computer engineering? I'm a high school junior interested in a career designing/creating electronics as a career when I'm out school; cell phones, TV's, video games - pretty much anything tech. I was just wondering if this would be considered electronic or computer engineering; I've gotten many mixed answers in the past; with the argument being electronic engineering would focus more on electrical engineering, and that computer engineering would focus more on software/programming. Right now I'm just looking for any more serious (profession is also a big bonus) opinions that may help define what I'm looking for in a major.
I was also wondering what some good colleges are for said major. I know some like MIT, UC Berkeley, and Stanford are about top 3 or so, but I'm also looking for some good colleges less-known schools as well.
P.S> By video games, I didn't mean the games themselves, but rather the video game systems.
Answer: if you want to design the things you list then Electrical Engineering is the choice for you.
Depending on where you look there's lot of related degrees out there - electrical, electronic, computer, and computer science engineering are all fairly closely related.
Electrical Engineering - designing electronic systems - hardware and software
Electronic Engineering - designing electronic components - transistors, logic chips, processors etc - these are the things electrical engineers use to design their systems
Computer Engineering - specialization of electronics engineering concerned only with computer hardware components - CPU, GPU, PPU, memory, hard drives, etc - note if you design an entire computer you're probably an electrical engineer
Computer Science Engineering - basically a software engineer - designs and (most of the time) writes computer software code
you could search the internet for good engineering schools and get a thousand different opinions - I went the Tulane University - they have a great engineering school
BSEE 1990
Question: Which subject is better for a career in computer hardware engineering/electronic engineering? The subjects are Computing Science A-level and Chemistry A-level
Also Electronic Engineering also includes computer hardware engineering doesn't it?
Answer: duh! Electronic engineering.
Question: In which university it is easy to get admission in MS in Electronic/Electrical engineering? For foreigners, is their any university where i can get admission in Master in Electrical/Electronic engineering easily. Because, I have low grades in my bachelors. Which university is cheaper and also good? Where I can get a job as lecturer after MS in that university????
Answer: If you have low grades for your Bachelor's, you can all but rule out a graduate program in any field of engineering. Engineering programs in the U.S. are extremely competitive and tend to have higher admissions requirements than most other programs. In addition, there are many fewer spots than necessary to admit even very qualified applicants at most universities.
Your best hope would be to apply to some of the lowest-ranked programs, or to consider seeking admission to a less competitive program in your home country. You can try to find a match based on less selective programs at http://graduate-school.phds.org/rankings/electrical-engineering Regional (not flagship) public universities are probably your best bet in terms of ease of admission. You can also try http://gradschool.about.com/od/admissionsadvice/f/lowgpa.htm for advice on off-setting poor GPAs in grad school admissions.
Finally, remember that in order to teach at the university level in the U.S., you need to prove that you have a high level of understanding in your subject. You will therefore be required to submit transcripts with your applications. With a low GPA, it is unlikely that any institution would hire you to teach engineering.
Question: What do you need to know for Electronic Engineering? I'm curious about what you need to know [or be good at] to be an Electronic Engineer.
Thanks in advance!
Answer: Basics like resistors, transistors & their working principles , needs & applications

Question: why physics is necessary for electrical and electronic engineering? it is necessary for students to study physics in order to become an electrical and electronic engineer?
Answer: Because of electricity,,, voltage, ampere, resistance and electricity components are physics. and so many to mention.. without physics you cant understand the behavior of the electrons and if you touch a material with high voltage, you're dead, and lastly,, physics is everywhere,,
Question: I have to write an abstract report on something to do with electronic engineering.? I have to write an abstract report on something to do with electronic engineering.?
I have no idea what an abstract report is or how to write one. Can any one help?
Answer: An abstract is an analysis of an analysis. So basically you have to find a critical essay on electronic engineering and write a report on that essay. You have to figure out the thesis (why the person's argument is) of the essay and use that as your thesis. Your essay is a summary of the critical essay and in the last paragraph you state your opinion on the essay. Whether you agree or disagree with the critical essay, or whatever your opinion is. Its not that fun but you dont have to think of your own thesis and your essay is basically a summary of the critical essay.
Question: Any ideas for an electronic engineering project? Hello im currently studying a btec national diploma in electrical/electronic engineering and i have to do an electronic project. i have no idead anything elctronic to make....i have looked on the internet and no circuit seems to interest me. i was wondering if any of you guys would have any ideas? im 17 old so nufin immensely comlicated!

Question: Electronic engineering jobs are really being outsourced a lot? I'm studying Electrical Engineering in college, but I'm worried about all the outsourcing. I am particularly interested in things like embedded design and communication, but I am mainly opened to any. I really want to be a design engineer though. I ask myself how can design engineering jobs be outsourced when in design engineering the design is coming from a person's imagination? Engineering jobs will always be plentiful in the US, right?
Answer: As an electrical engineer with over 30 years experience I believe that engineering jobs will be available to those who are willing to keep learning the latest technologies. Don't forget the basics and if you can get a Masters degree. I don't think a BS is enough anymore. Good luck
Question: what is a short circuit mean in Electrical and Electronic Engineering? Just need to know for general Knowledge in Engineering.
Any help be much appreciated.
Answer: Each of the first six responses to "what is a short circuit?" are correct. However they fail to address the fact that a short circuit is an unintentional current path that typically produces enough extra current to flow in the circuit that the overcurrent protective device for the circuit trips. If the impedance of the short circuit is low enough the protective device operates instantaneously. If the impedance of the short circuit is higher the fault path (or short circuit by another name) can appear to the protective device as an overload. If the impedance of the fault path is higher it may only cause the circuit function to not work properly and the power would continue to flow until the problem gets worse or the circuit is powered down and repaired. Protective devices such as fuses and breakers can be constructed so that when they fail or open they give an indication to the trained electrician or technician what type of fault caused it to operate.
Question: Why do electricians make more than electronic engineering techs? Found a site that said electricians with a license make about $20,000 more than techs with an associates in electronics engineering technology, is this true?
Answer: Electricians are in a "trade". Unions drive the pay of anyone in a trade higher than it normally would be.
Electricians work on vital equipment that involves potentially deadly voltages. It is VERY important work and is vital to our modern society. Engineering techs usually work in a cushy lab in an office building. Electricians often do a lot of tough hard grunt work (running heavy cable, cutting conduit) in very tough locations and conditions.
They are very different types of work. I personally think electricians deserve the money they get. I worked as an engineering tech for about 15 years and the pay was OK but nothing to write home about.
Question: Does a person needs to be good in math in order to become an electronic engineering? I like too much electronic devices like computers and mobile phones but i hate math. Could you please help me in my question?
Answer: to become an electronic engineer, you need not be a math genius . but you must know a little math.
just learn calculus at least. you can manage the rest.
computers and mobile phone run not only on the electronics, but also on the software in it. so if you are determined not to touch maths, go for computer programming, or some thing like that. but programming needs a lot of logic.
Question: The employment prospects of electronic engineering in USA? 4years later, what about The employment prospects of electronic engineering in USA?and how much payment...thx!
Answer: Last first, the average salary of electronics engineers is 78K$
http://www.indeed.com/salary/Electronics-Engineer.html
Employment prospects, well that is a variable at the moment, apart from a few associated skills that are very much in demand. Assuming demonstrated competence in educational standards, and a sound curriculum in Physics, Math, Engineering and Communications, (Computer skills, including high level programming, are pretty much expected) the most desired additional capabilities are in:
1. Risk assessment skills for projects at all levels.
2. Skills in using statistical analysis and Reliability Engineering
3. Ability to design with awareness of all system factors, from product development through production efficiency to customer satisfaction.
Even showing an awareness of the significance of the above, and a determination to incorporate them in your work, will open a lot of doors.
.
Question: whats the best university to get a good knoeledge on Electronic Engineering? I have completed high school and I m 20 now. What is the best University in the world to get an Engineering Degree in Electronics?
Answer: I sould say MIT
Question: i want change my career as a civil engineer to an electrical and electronic engineering? I am a graduate in civil engineering. After graduating i realize that i am more into circuits than concrete. Its not that i am not good in civil but i belive i will enjoy electrical engineering more. Can any one help me on this predicament i am in?
Answer: Not to be disrespectful. I don't really consider this a dangerous predicament because every Engineering Degree is similar in a lot of ways for their uses on maths, science, applying yourself to theory and designing things. So, with that being said. Going from Civil Engineering to Electrical/Electronic Engineering will be a great transition for your new degree because of your back round information you'll have already have in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (especially if that's your engineering interest). I say if that's what you want to do. Then, go for it.
Question: Where online is a good place I can study electronic engineering for free? I want to know of a good place I can learn about electronic engineering for free. I have had five credit hours of electronics in high school, and I want to prepare myself more for college.
Answer: MIT has lots of free online engineering courses. See http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/home/home/index.htm
Question: reference book for understanding the principles of electrical and electronic engineering? Could anyone suggest a good reference book for understanding the basic fundamentals of electrical and electronic engineering?
The topics that should be covered are DC circuits, work power and energy, capacitor, magnetic circuits, electromagnetic induction, single phase AC circuits, poly phase circuits, domestic wiring, semiconductor devices
Answer: If you can steal or afford it ($485), the Wiley Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
http://www.ecampus.com/bk_detail.asp?isbn=9780471358954&referrer=frgl
Question: at a 2 yr college for an introductory electronic engineering course? How much math do you need to have knowledge of, and how much is used in the introduction to electrical engineering course? What do you think?
Answer: Intro to EE is probably going to require nothing more than algebra and trig. You'll probably also need to know how to use matrices, although that may be more advanced than the intro class. If you get into electrical science, you'll need to know (or be able to fake) calculus to handle laplace transforms.
Question: Would it be smart to major in electronic engineering? I am planing to get a major in electrical engineering and minor in computer engineering. Is that a good idea? If its not then what do you recommend I major in?
Answer: If you like math and electronics then hell yeah electronical engineering will suit you well.... I have a cousin that is a electrical engineer major. surprisingly he did well for being the stoner he is... He makes good money doing little to nothing now...
Question: I am an Electronic Engineer can I switch my career to Petroleum engineering? I am working as an Electronioc Engineer for 5 years now I want to change my feild to petroleum engineering. plz do let me know if its feasible and how should I do it !
Answer: Would it not be better to contact a major employer in field or an educational institute in your region? Just saying .... Or being as you have 5 years exp I would assume that you are a registered engineer what about contacting the engineering governing body and asking them?
Depending on location, I know here in Canada you would have a difficult time and it would definitely require a fair bit of schooling. I think it would depend on the school you go to, what courses you have that are not in the electrical stream, and then all those important courses that you are going ot have to make up. At least you should get credit for all the maths/non-eng electives, but I would assume it to take you 2 years still, particularly b/c 50% of the course load must be taken at your given institute. Being as you didn't not specify location that may not apply at all.
Question: I wanted to know what are the international tests for Electronic engineering? As you know there are some important tests for engineering and other fields of study for exp CFA for Financial managers
What are special tests for Electronic engineering
Answer: All details are on their home page
Question: just asking whats the difference between electrical and electronic engineering and whats easier? just asking whats the difference between electrical and electronic engineering and whats easier
Answer: Names (job titles) vary between schools and companies. Some use "electrical engineer" and some use "electronic engineer" for the same job, someone who works with circuit design.
Some use "electrical engineer" for what I call "power engineer", someone who deals with power generation and transmission.

As far as the syllabus is concerned why don't you visit the web site of any one of the I.I.Ts and look at the syllabus of both electrical and electronics engineering? However, it may not make much sense to you right now unless you some thing of both
Question: Will I be any good at electronic engineering? I'm a current student in college for electronic engineering. I usually do pretty good at the subject, bt I often forget things as time passes. I don't think I'm doing to well at this. How were you in college? Will I be any good at electronic engineering?
Answer: I have a 2 year degree in electronics. I had a 3.43 GPA and I constantly have to write things down and refer to books for information. There is a lot to remember. Most if not all technicians and engineers will need reminders because there is so much. If you do something enough you should start to pick it up.
Question: Should I do computer or electronic engineering? I want to do a hands-on type of engineering with electronics or products. I noticed that computer engineering mostly deals with software. I am not really interested in software. Is there a specific type of engineering that deals strictly with the physical (hands-on) aspect?
Answer: Both computer and electronic engineering share many of the same subjects. You will probaly have to learn programming in each of them, however computer engineering tends to focus more on the programming whereas electronic engineering will involve more mathematics.
If you're keen for board level circuit design and prototyping with a soldering iron in hand, then your best bet is probably to go with the electronics.
Good luck buddy, I with someone gave me this kinda advice before I did my degree!
Question: which is better, computer engineering or electrical and electronic engineering? i have just finished my high school and trying for an university. my goal is to be a highly paid engineer. so which one i should major in, computer engineering(CSE) or electrical and electronic engineering(EEE)
Answer: Chemical pays the most. EE with a Computer engineering minor will pay the second. Masters in either one will put you at over 100K a year in the short future if you are bright enough to stand out and produce.
Question: How in-demand are Electronic Engineering Technicians and what is their pay rate? Is it difficult to get a job in the 50 states?
Answer: First, when you're an Electornics Eng'r surely you will not be just a technician. I'm very much sure that you will occupy a position higher than a technician.
Second, it depends on your location. The rate likewise differ in every location and the company you will work for.
Question: How do i know if im ready for and electronic engineering degree? I just got out of the Army and im going to go to college, i know i want a degree to make more money. I like electrical work, but im not the greatest at math. Can anyone help me out and give me some pointers as to what to really do to get ready?
Answer: If you don't enjoy math and are not good at it, I would strongly discourage you from pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. It requires a TON of math: Laplace transforms, differential equations, calculus, etc.
It sounds to me like a degree in Electrical Engineering TECHNOLOGY would be up your alley. You assist the engineers in projects and do a lot of what they do, but you don't have a degree that is as math intensive. However, you would never be a Professional Engineer, but the pay is still good.
