Question: web developer? let say we are web developer: that to provide website for a big cake company, how do we to make budget to develop websites: what things to be consider as well?
Answer: Do you work for the cake company, or are you a contractor? It's a big difference.
If you are the cake company, you have to devote the resource to do the job.
If you are the contractor, you have to win the bid to do the job.
Question: Web developer? How much do web developers get paid? Are there jobs for them or are they all in foreign countries? Is it still a good job?
Answer: There are thousands of jobs for web developers.
But the highest paid developers are web application developers, those who know how to create web-based business applications, not just pretty graphics and front pages. This requires a knowledge of programming languages, database technology, and user interface design.
Question: What do i need to major In To become a web developer? I want to be a web developer, and wanna know what should i major in. I am confused between computer science and Web development. Most colleges simply don't have web development it their majors list, which is unrealistic maybe i calling it wrong. So To be a web developer what degree is needed to be a web developer.
Is it in Cunny.
Answer: Its usually called Multimedia and Web design or may be called Interactive Multimedia.
Computer Science will teach you web design along with other theory relating to computers. It can help to understand this theory as well as it will give you a bit of background knowledge to the subject area.
You would also learn programming concepts on a computer science course which would also help you.
Question: What major would aid me the most in becoming a web developer? I plan on being a web developer, but I wanted to know which major would be more effective in terms of being a web developer?
So far I have Computer Science or Digital Media as my top two choices.
Help please! :)
I need to know what would be the best major to go into.
Answer: What kind of web developer do you want to be? Do you want to focus on design & layout, or do you want to program and work on the logic that runs the site?
I would suggest you take classes in both areas, but choose a major that fits the side you're interested in. Computer science will give you a good background on programming and software development, which will be good for building web applications (think the sophisticated web apps that Google provides). It *won't* prepare you for making nice-looking, customer-friendly web sites -- you'll want to take digital media classes for that.
Question: How to explain my requirements to a web developer? Suppose I want to open a websore to sell some stuff - say ipods and other music players. How can I explain my requirements to the web developer?
Answer: you can say webstore and they will get it right away...however make sure you have the following information/ make sure and talk about:
-the domain name of the site
-who is going to host it (godaddy, or other)
-basic design (simple elegant, color scheme, etc.)
-your demographic (who you want to sell to) and what you will be selling
-SEO (search engine optimization)
-what elements you want to include on the site besides just the items you want to sell...like and about page, FAQ page, Contact info, etc.
-whether you want to use a CMS like Joomla or not, so you can manage the content yourself (which is the way I would go) or if you want to use a custom PHP site (more expensive and will take longer to build)
-what sort of maintenance you will need
Question: What skills does a web developer need to build a site? I am looking for a web developer to create a website and am writing an job ad. What skills would they need to have? HTML? it is going to be a fairly basic site but they will need to do 3-D modelling so prob flash or autocad? Any tips or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks
Answer: These days, any web developer really should be well versed in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. So, those three, and 3D modelling experience should be the prerequisite.
Image editing skills would be essential if the developer needs to create images. In particular, Adobe Photoshop is industry standard.
If you need a database driven website, then SQL would be essential too, as well as experience with one or more relational database management systems (RDMS). These could include MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle. MS Access probably wouldn't cut it, as it's not really suitable for web applications. The developer will also need to be well versed in a server-side scripting language such as PHP or ColdFusion.
A good developer should take a user-centered approach. That is, they will look at the user requirements first, then create a website based on that. Some developers are too keen to show off their skills and forget about the end user! Also, experience with usability testing could be useful here.
This page discusses these skills in more detail:

Question: What can be the starting salary of a web developer in Media PA? How much do u think would be a decent salary for a web developer. I am a 25 year old girl and have 2 years experience in web development as well as a masters degree in computer science. I graduated this december.
If not, how much annual salary would be enough to live a decent life in Media PA? How expensive is the place? I want to take up a 1 br apartment and be able to live a decent lifestyle.
The languages that will be used are PHP, Java with Oracle database.
Answer: For asp/asp.net web developer in Media, PA - Expected salary - $77,000
This link may help you. - http://www.indeed.com/salary?q1=web+developer&l1=Media%2C+PA
Question: What type of degree do you need to become a web developer? What type of degree would one need to become a web developer? I'm finding conflicting information, some sites suggest a degree in computer programming, computer science or graphic design.
Which degree would offer the best training for such a career, one that requires both the knowledge of programing and design?
Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it.
P.S. I am looking towards a bachelors degree, I want to get in at least 4 years of college.
Answer: Depends what you want to do. You could learn a programming language, such as PHP JavaScript MySql, etc. Graphic design would do you good if you want to make the images for your website and such, some sort of technical classes could teach you how to host and use your own server..
Try to look for a description on your classes, I would say in general you should take Computer Programing, Graphic Design, and some sort of Business course to help ensure that you are doing everything correctly.
I would not take Computer Science because it has an indirect relation to what you want to do. According to Wikipedia, "Computer science or computing science (sometimes abbreviated CS) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems.[1][2][3] It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe and transform information."
This is the more kind of algorithmic problem solving in computers, rather than creating websites.
If you want to host your own websites, you don't even require a degree.
If you want to get hired by a company, I would say a Masters, Bachelors, but I wouldn't shoot for a P.H.D. purely because it's a waste of time in this field, you will get accepted to any job with a Masters of Bachelors if you present yourself in a good way.
Best of luck!
Question: What requirements should I have to get web developer job in UK? I'm 1+ year experienced web developer, eu citizen. One week ago I decided to create my portfolio, which will contain projects, that will be made by me and I'll participate in. Moreover, I'm going to write tutorials and tricks on web development here. In the near future I would like to find a web dveloper job in UK. So, if there are some developers, who can tell me what really do I need (what kind of requirements, experience) to get a job here?!

Answer: C# and ASP.Net Web Developer – Major Web Development Agency (ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX) My client is a major web based digital agency with a number of large well known clients on board. They are seeking a strong Senior ASP
Question: Web developer looking for more paid work? Hello.
I am a Web Developer who prides himself with clean designs, valid, browser-compliant web designs.
I also am a keen Software Developer.
I am looking for ways to seek more paid work.
My day job is a Web Developer and I would like to spend some of my evenings working to build my portfolio as one day I would like to go freelance.
Any idea's, thanks.
Anybody? I need this.
Answer: Hit up some small local companies. They may not pay much, but will help to build your portfolio and maybe will take the work out in trade.
Check with a local Realtor. If they already have a website, maybe you can improve it.
Contractors might also be a good place to start. They are always looking for ways to show off their past and current projects.
Question: What is the salary of entry level web developer? What is the salary of entry level web developer? In addition to that, what is the salary of entry level software engineer?
I want to hear from people in software development field.
Thank you in advance.
Answer: 35 - 40K
Question: What are you looking for in a web developer? If you need a website to be built from scratch or revamp an existing one then what are you looking for from a web developer?
Do you want the web developer to explain to you the reason why you need a website? Do you want someone to guide you from concept to implementation of your site?
Answer: You would look for somebody with a solid track record that can give you a fixed quote and can deliver on time. He should be able to show you websites he has created in the past.
He should accept maximum 50% of the price paid up front and the rest when the project has been completed and you are satisfied.
It is great if you find a web developer that understand your concept and can give you feedback on the way to implementation but make up your own mind if you need a website or not before contacting the web developer.
Question: What are the essential skills to learn to be considered for a web developer job? I know HTML, CSS, dreamweaver & html-ing a photoshop composition.
I know there's probably a lot more to learn to be considered for a web developer position.
So my question is, what are the skills to learn which more or less guarantee you strong consideration in at least an entry level job in the web developing industry?
Or is this something that's always changing or something more dependent on your portfolio?
Thanks!
Answer: You can get by on different levels knowing various things...
For a top of a line design agency that deals with good projects, such as Warner Brothers, Bacardi, ect. will normally split up the agency into the following...
Standards Team
This might be considered what you are into. They know CSS, XHTML, Javascript, and they design using photoshop. The good Front End Developers know design and code.
Flash Team
they do all flash, this is normally 100% actionscript doing no art. The art comes form the art team.
Art Team
General Art. Print to Flash graphics. Can do website GUI usually collaborates with Standards team on designs.
Back-end
They do PHP or ASP depending on company preference. Alot of this is done off shore.
So as you can see there really isn't a "web developer position" anymore in a good firm. The traditional front-end developer has been modeling into a web designer, and the back-end has split off into the "web developer role"
You can break into web design with a very small portfolio one or 2 good sites. Alot of web design is based on speed. Example i'm a standards member, but i also know back-end. I don't do backend cause im not as fast as i am at standards. Keeping up with Industry standards is a great way to make sure you're never out of the loop. Everything changes early.
Question: How to become a web developer without degree? What certifications do I need to be a web developer?
Answer: You don't need to be certified at all. I think the majority of people in the internet industry don't have any formal training, just really smart kids who taught themself. If you want to go work for a company it may be nice to have certain certifications however that really doesn't matter. At my old company they thought it was too easy to get the certifications and that it didn't really mean much. WHen a programmer came in for an interview they were asked to write a code and if they couldn't they didn't get the job. I talked to a lot of the guys who were doing web design for us and they said htey had went to school for a while but found they knew more than the teacher and became bored and werent learning anything so quit. If you have the skills and can do good work you don't need any certifcations, you rwork will speak for itself.
Question: What are the essential things that an aspiring web developer (freelance) need to learn? I would like to become freelance web developer. Please advise me what I need to learn in minimum.
So far, I know HTML and CSS to some extent and a little bit of JavaScript. I would like to learn myself at home.
Thank you.
Answer: If you want to create websites for people/businesses then you will want to learn PHP and Mysql. Mysql is a database and PHP is a server side scripting language to manage the database.
http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp is a good reference to learn these.
Another good language to learn is JQuery. www.jquery.com. You will learn how to do some cool animation effects and JQuery is very simple to pick up.
Question: Getting a web producer job as a web developer? I am currently a web developer, can I apply for web producer jobs and actually get hired? I know both of these jobs are distinct in terms of responsibilities but there are also some similarities. As a heavy technical web developer for ten years I think I can definitely get hired and handle a semi to non-technical job such as a web producer. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Answer: yes you can
Question: How long will it take to become a professional web developer? How long am I looking at to become a professional web developer if I study about 6-12 hours everyday, and I have nothing else to doing.
I do have extensive knowledge with computers.
Also does anybody know in what order I should start learning, I know HTML should be the first even though its hardly used anymore. A list would be great. Thanks.
BTW, I plan to freelance at first, and then look for a job in this field.
Answer: Why do you keep asking the same question over and over?
Question: What are the pros and cons of being a web developer? I'm having a hard time deciding between studying to become a web developer or a teacher.
Answer: You can do both. I taught for 30 years. I've been coding, including websites for 37 years. (Concurrently not sequentially.)
Question: How do I find a good web developer? Where is the best place to find a good web developer?
Answer: In my livingroom.
Question: How long does it take for me to become a web developer? How long does it take for me to become a web developer?
Answer: It depends how far you want to go generaly it takes years to learn programming and designing
Question: Do you need corporate experience to become a freelance web developer or can you start from scratch? I'm trying to get an A.S. degree in web programming from a community college. I'm not sure I can get a corporate job with just an A.S. degree. Can I just become a freelance web developer from scratch? How should I start out? I know about portfolios, and I know about elance.com and websites like that.
Answer: Without some kind of degree, it's going to be tough even to get someone to talk to you. As time goes on, you may want to build up a portfolio, and be able to show you designed websites for other customers. It's something like what an artist would go through to get hired for a job. Lot's of that kind of work is by contract, so you are not really an employee too. It just depends on what you are looking for.
Question: In order to become a good web developer, I would like to self-train myself. How can I do so? I would like to become a good web developer and be efficient on those things, by learning at home myself. Please suggest me what is the best way to learn them within a short period of time.
Javascript,
PHP
MySQL
Answer: Try this site it's free and will help you regardless of experience. http://www.w3schools.com/
Question: What is the difference between a graphic designer and the web developer? And also what are the tools related to a graphic designer and web developer?
Answer: The diffrence between them is that the web developer doesn't make the pictures. A graphic desiner does that part. So basicly a web developer has the ideas and makes the words and all that other stuff, but the graphic desiner was trained to draw and draw only.
$$ :) $$
Question: How much should I charge as a web developer (freelance)? WHat is the normal rate to charge as a freelance web developer? And what is the low/high range? I expect 20-25 per h is ok? Thanks
Answer: Not a bad idea to decide on what you need to get as an hourly rate and work backwards from there. However, I find people prefer to pay by the page as this is easier for them to understand. Some pages can take an hour or two but I had one recently that took several days to get right. I usually price on the basis of four pages a day.
And remember that your hourly rate has to include your time touting for business, designing the site, dealing with the customer, billing and running your office.
Question: How to become a web developer? Hi
How do i become a web developer? What would be the correct path to become a professional web developer? I know xhtml and css. Whats next?
Answer: Professional web developers will usually know information u have just mentioned but in addition will need to add some knowledge of computer graphics packages for picture and multimedia enhancement. Also with the advent of web 2.0 technologies (i.e page content changes as per user request) you will never get away from such technologies as PHP, CGI , Java script and ASP. although in practice a basic introduction and knowledge of programming and some manuals is enough for such technologies
Question: Difference Between a Web Developer and a Web Programmer? What is the difference between a web developer and web programmer? Which one will you recommend I do and why?
Thanks for answering
Answer: same difference
Question: where can I get good and low cost web developer? I'm in south of Utah, and I want somebody to create a website for my business. I want to have a business website which doing well on any browser and easily to be found on any search engine.
After I have a website, if there is something I want to change, can I change it by myself or I have to have the web developer do it for me?
Answer: "After I have a website, if there is something I want to change, can I change it by myself or I have to have the web developer do it for me?"
This will all depend on the person who does your web page. They may make it so you could change something, but they also may make it so you can change what you want. They may even charge you for making any changes to your web page(s).
So, it all depends on who does it for you.
If you are trying to find someone to do it for you, you might be better off asking for examples of web pages or sites they have designed. Then you would probably want to ask the people who have these web sites what they think of the work, etc.
In other words, do some research on the person, or people, you are thinking of paying to do the work. See if they are reasonable, professional, etc. There are a lot of people who say they can do something, and it may not turn out to be what you want.
There are also freelance sites that you can ask for people to make a bid to create it for you. But again, you should check out the person before you choose someone. A lot of people get caught short because they choose someone who does not chanrge as much as someone else. An old saying is "You only get what you pay for".
Hope that helps you out.
Question: Can you actually make a decent living as web developer freelancer? Just curious to know your experience? Can you make a decent living as web designer or web developer freelance? Thanks
Answer: I've done it before for a few months when I was unemployed, as my wife had enough income to support us when I was looking for other things.. I made a quick $1k but it was not enough for me to live on if I were alone.. alot less than working normally. You'd need to be experienced and find good contractors for your work to make alot of money. Make it a side job until you get better into the business..
Question: What to wear for job interview for web developer position? I have an interview coming up for a web developer job. What would I have to wear? Is a shirt and tie good enough? or would I be better off wearing a suit?
Answer: It is an unwritten rule among job seekers that what you wear to your interview should reflect the wardrobe of a person a step higher than the position you are going for.
This being the case, I would suggest that you wear a two-piece, matched suit. It would be better if it were navy or dark grey as these colors are more conservative. It has been said that your tie should have flecks of red or yellow in it, I don't necessarily agree with this, however, I will say that you should avoid ties with cartoons or characters on them.
Wear a light blue or white shirt, if possible, and be sure that your belt and shoes match and that your shoes are not worn-out.
Hope this helps!
Question: what are my chances to become a Web Developer at 48? I want to become a web developer. What is the easiest technology for me to achieve this goal? I am giving myself 1 year to learn it and build a portfolio, then will try to find some work. Last year, I tried some Flex 3 but it was not that easy to learn with AS3 etc.. Any great advices would be appreciated. thanks.
Answer: Easy, study the books and then take on small jobs at freelance websites like elance.com guru.com etc. You will learn and earn money and build an online portfolio in the process.
Question: Electrical Engineering majors, have possibility to work as Web-developer for internship? I have possibility to work as web-developer, more programming side.
Do you think it will be a good and valuable experience for me, even that I am studying for Electrical engineering?
I am not looking where to find. Read my question.
Answer: education.mypressonline.com - I found such internship info here. It has lots of internships, job openings and scolarships for college students.
Question: Which is better: A software engineer(programmer) or a web developer? I am planning on doing a diploma in web development but am wondering if this is a waste of time.
What is the best career option: Web developer or software engineer?
Please give reasons
Answer: im a 22 year old guy.. i started building sites since i was 17.. i dint go for any diploma or anything.. it just came to me naturaly.. web developing is a nice SIDE income for me.. i get 200$ per site i make for people around the world.. right now im developing a site for a gym in saudia arabia.. and iv almost made thousands of site since 2 years..
its how i bought my bike u see on my display pic..
so i would suggest taking both of them..
software eng. would be i shiny career and web developing can save ur life at times..
good luck.

Question: whats the common responsibilities of a web developer? hi,
I want to know what are the common responsibilities of a web developer, what would should a developer know.
thanks!
Answer: how to create, modify and manage the code you want to apply yourself in... if your a full time developer for a company you would also probably be in charge of dealing with the server where the content is stored..
a basic web developer should dominate html, css and javascript. im not sure but i think xml is the future of web development.
you could always go for flash which is also a quite easy and fun way to create a website but if you would like to give flash a more practical use you would also learn mysql or php to contribute to flash.
if you want to create online applications you would go have to go into java in my opinion.. tho flash can also help tho its not as good as java. plus java also is used on non-web development applications.
I hope i answered your questions..
Question: What's the average-going web developer charge? Is their work usually quoted hourly, or say, per project? I'm just looking for what you'd pay your modern-day web developer for contract work. An organization I work with is looking for some kind of web development work, most likely something on an hourly basis... what's a competetive rate for that kind of work these days?
Answer: I get $500 to build a site (designed the logos too) and $20/hour to update.
Question: How can I build a XML web page by Microsoft Visual web developer 2005? I want to make a XML web page by Microsoft Visual web developer 2005. Plz tell me the fundamental steps.
Answer: I highly recommend you do not use microsoft products, especially for any web design. They're dreadful.
Try HTMLkit ( http://www.htmlkit.com )
You can get it for free and it works better than anything microsoft ever made.
And yes I am biased against microsoft.
For info about xml, I highly recommend the w3c schools, as w3c is the organization that sets the standards.
The xml info is here: http://www.w3schools.com/xml/default.asp

Best Wishes!
Question: what programs would i need to learn to be able to be marketable as a web developer? what programs would i need to learn to be able to be marketable as a web developer? just curious, how important is flash? is code more important? just trying to find a starting point. thanks
Answer: To become a web developer you must first be very creative and intuitive. This is important for the design aspect of web development. Secondly you must be a person who can sit typing code for hours, following on from this you must be a good problem solver.
Overall you need patience, creativity and knowledge.
The three areas of web development:
- Design: Most commonly done in photoshop. A web designer will layout a website and create an image of what the final website will look like.
- Coding: The job of a coder begins with slicing. The coder slices the designers image into different sections then marks up the individual images using a web markup language such as xhtml. Style and formatting is then applied through a secondary code called CSS (Cascading Style Sheet).
- SEO: Search Engine Optimization. SEO is integral to ensure a website gets maximum exposure in search engines by making sure every aspect of the website can be accessed perfectly by search engine crawlers. This includes validating all markup language, well laid out code, correct use of different languages and well named files/images.
More to the point of the question. To be able to market yourself as a web developer you must be able to design creative weblayout concepts in Adobe Photohop. The program is very large and is estimated that only about 10% of its users make use of its full potential. It may take years to master such software to a professional standard. You will also need to know how to code. Start by learning basic markup including XHTML and CSS. After you are fluent in both move on to PHP and MySQL and so on. You can find great coding tutorials here: http://www.w3schools.com/
Don't worry about SEO yet. Its irrelevant until you can make a quality website you are happy to publish.
The best way to improve is to keep at it. Post your work on forums and ask for help, I recomend: http://www.devppl.com
And don't forget to enjoy it ;)
