Question: What qualifications do you need to become a software programmer? I need to know what GCSE's are needed what A-levels are need and what degrees are needed to become a software programmer.
Answer: i'm in my final year at sixth form doing math physics and chemistry. Im going on to do computer science later this year. I don't recommend doing math physics and chemistry however. If your college offers Computing take that and maths. I found that it is not necessary to take hard subjects to get into uni, all they care about is ucas points , i do math physics and chemistry and got rejected from Aston because i was ten points short on my predicted grades, it's annoying because if i'd have taken computing i'd have probably got a better grade and hence better points. but you need at least maths or one scientific subject usually.
Question: What courses should I look for in college if I want to eventually become a software programmer? I am a rising high school senior and I have decided that I want to become a software programmer. Do to the fact that my adviser is a complete retard, he told me that he had no clue on what to do if I want to pursue that profession and that I would be on my own. So what classes should I look for to start off as my core classes?
Answer: Wow, your adviser should find a new position. Your major will be "Software Engineering." I am a Computer Sci major, and Software Eng. is specializing in programming/compiling. Your courses will be chosen for you when you get to the junior/senior part of the university level. In other words, you do not need to choose classes, college advisers within the school do this for you. This will in turn give you a job with a title such as "Junior/Senior Programmer" depending on your experience.
Enjoy college!
Question: can i be both a computer hardware and software programmer? hi, I'm currently 14, and i have strong interest computers (coding and putting them together) I'm planning on being either a computer hardware engineer, or a computer software engineer and i was thinking "could i be both?" would i be able to do it? or would it be to difficult? thank you~!
Answer: It helps to have some background in hardware and software, whatever you do, but someday when you get a job, it will probably be mostly one or the other. I have degrees in computer engineering and computer science. I have been a programmer, and a systems administrator in the past. My day job now is as a software administrator, but at night I fix computers.

Question: How much does a software programmer earn in Finland? What is an average net salary? To be more specific, let's say, how rich would become a J2EE developer with several years of experience?
Answer: Finland has over-educated IT-engineers in this field for years and now the experts are more or less unemployed. You can't get rich by working in Finland because of the high taxation and high prices.
Any open position in IT get hundreds of applications so practically your chances of getting a job are minimal. Finnish attitudes towards foreigners can be tough thing to overcome and generally getting a job is no easy task even for a native Finn either. Many software engineering positions are currently being offshored to India and Asia because of lower costs.
Many foreigners who have come to Finland have to start from the entry level jobs or start a new career from the bottom if their education is not qualified. (usually it is not) Also unemployment has always been very high among immigrants.
So forget what you've heard about Finland being so great place to work.
Question: how do i go about finding a computer software programmer? I have a huge idea for a software program. I need to find someone who is really good and cut some slack on pay until we get it running. Anywhere i should look?
Answer: Uni, students are looking for the chance to prove themselves and gain experience, if it works out and you look after them they will stay and you have a loyal employee, else if it fails they would have got a lot more experience then starting out as a software tester and gained confidence which will help them get the next job.
either way Win-Win for you and them
Question: What exactly does a software engineer/software programmer do?Is it enjoyable?
I am currently considering careers in subjects i am interested in as i need to either drop subjects or move school next year, so basically i need to know what career i want very soon. I heard about a software engineer which sounds interesting but i would love to know exactly what they do as im not fully aware of it? And of course, is it an enjoyable job?
Thanks
x
Answer: I love it but you need to be a certain type of person.
Writing program is only 10% of the job the rest in meeting finding bugs testing planing etc.
Question: How much should a 3 year talented software programmer make in North Carolina? I only have a BS degree in Computer science
I searched online and I saw ranges from 59k to 83k!!
I had an offer that was negotiated to 60k. Am I selling myself short?
Answer: Check Salary.com. but sometimes it's hard to find a co that will pay what you think you should get. check the job boards for jobs similar to what you want and then check what they pay.
I am a network admin (i started out in programming) but anyways, i settled for a job (low in pay) and then continued with certs. i got experience and then searched for a job in my pay range. if you are just out of college, don't be worried if you have to settle for job with less pay at first.
Question: What's the difference between a "software programmer" and a "software engineer"? According to Wikipedia.org, there are some who consider them the same, and some who consider them the came. Also, to be the latter, you must have a "computer engineering"degree (real name, if wrong, eludes me at the moment) as opposed to a "computer science" degree, which would enable you to be the former.
What's the difference (layman's terms please) and which degrees do I need because I previously thought they were the same was planning on going to college for a "Computer science" degree to be a programmer, but soft engineering sounds like something I'd want to do instead.
Help please!
Answer: Computer science generally focuses on the theory on how computers work. This includes things such as algorithms, concepts related to operating systems, creation of new theories and programming languages, basic concepts of chip/processor architecture, etc. Many CS courses use a substantial amount of math because CS deals in theory and math is commonly used in logical proofs or showing efficiency of algorithms. While CS dealt with the theory of basic hardware design, it focused mainly of the software side of computing and did not get into the actual creation or planning of any hardware. Because CS students understand the theory behind computing, they can become a programmer or system architect relatively easily.
At the university I attended, Computer Engineering was basically a combination of CS and electrical engineering. They learned a lot of the theory taught to CS students and they also learned the engineering principles used by electrical engineers in designing and creating microprocessors, controllers, and circuit boards. In the first two years at my university, CS and Comp E. students shared a lot of the same courses. However, after the first two years, CS students focused on the software side, while Comp E. students focused on the hardware side of things.
Computer programmers program software. (duh...ok, that was a pointless statement) While more advanced programmers may understand some of the more complex theories used by computer scientists, many entry level programmers are not familiar with many theories beyond those that directly apply to programming. Programmers write software for specific tasks. They may (or may not) take part in the planning of large projects... but they focus more on creation and implementation of the code for the given tasks.
I am not as certain on the concept of software engineers as I am on the other titles, because I have heard people use that title to describe programmers and I have heard it used to describe software architects and planners... but this is my understanding... Software engineers may do a lot of programming. However, they also do a lot of the planning and design of the software to make sure it is done in an efficient manner, meets the goals, fits the budget, and, if necessary, works with existing systems. They will be the ones that plan the project and then give the specific tasks to the programmers. They think on the "larger scale" than your typical code monkey.
Question: how to hire software programmer in limited budget? If you cannot invest more money and a limited budget on programmer then you should go through some place which you can get good programmer. You can go through a place like college, freelancers and forum. Now a day many college students are need job which can manage your budget. Students are also looking forward for this and they are likely want to follow direction which you can give them. So that they can create more ideas and view for their future growth. And this time they are not demanding a huge amount of money from you.
Answer: Sure, and you get what you pay for -- no experience. If you hire me, you get the benefit of 30 years of experience. I can tell you what will work, and what won't, before you waste much money.
So you have a problem. You don't have any money to waste; you don't have the knowledge or experience yourself, and you are going to hire someone without experience.
A recipe for disaster. Yes, your new student will follow your direction. After all, she doesn't the experience to set direction herself. But if you don't know what works either, you are now rather screwed.
Question: how should i start to learn to become a software computer programmer? should i read XTML and XHTML to go onto java script then to go onto java itself? If so what should i learn first to become a software computer programer.I already have the XTML AND XHTM from the library as well as java scrip 24 hour books.
Im a complete noob.
Answer: hahaha, in my school, our teacher has us starting with a program called: Alice. its a baby step towards hardcore programming, but it lets you in on how all the code works. Its free to download. alice.org
Question: I am a software programmer. Where can I find people who are willing to try to crack my copyright protection? I write my own software and am starting to include copyright protection methods that require you to contact me to get the activation code. Is there any way I can contact cracking teams and give them a copy so they can try to crack it?
Answer: I might know of someone but would have to check with them first email me and I'll let you know when I know
Question: What course(s) would i need to do at A level/ University to become a software programmer? I was thinking of working for Sony or microsoft, either working for Playstation or Xbox, as a games designer/ programmer. Or for Microsoft on windows, or something along those lines.
I am currently doing GCSEs and am being pressured by my school to decide what to do :S
I really have no idea what to do when im older but i enjoy these thing so i think that would be the best route
thanks :)
Answer: If your school offers a degree in video game development (yes some do) then that's obviously a great choice. If not, then the more general, best degree you could enroll in is Computer Science (CS). They have a lot of technical courses that could easily be ported to the gaming industry. I myself graduated with Computer Information Systems, which is more of a technical/business degree. Good luck to you in what you choose.
Question: What is the format for entering Daily activities of a Software Programmer? I want to design a format through which programmers can enter their daily activities. I want to view a sample format and also need to know what type of information need to be included in the Report.
Answer: try to take a look to the featuers of the softwares

Question: How can I do my MBA since I have only diploma with 7 yrs of experiance as a software programmer? I have done my 10th + I PUC + II PUC ( One subject fail) after that I have done my diploma in computer science, Having 7+ yrs as a Software programmer, Now I would like to pursue my MBA how can I do this without affecting my present job, But it should not be valid for travelling to abroad
Answer: MBA programs are designed for working adults. Most have both 2 year and 4 year programs for completion, and night classes, and distant learning courses are very typical. Many MBA programs will not even accept candidates without 5 years of work experience, so you're good there. MBA programs do not require a specific bachelor's degree--you can have a degree in anything. However, if your bachelor's degree is not in business, there are a few prerequisite courses you usually must take prior to entering the program (foundation business courses). Most employers provide tuition assistance or reimbursement--so check into that! I've never seen an employer give an employee a hard time when he or she is furthering their education.
Question: Merits or demerits which are high in software programmer position? I think most people are in this field only for high salaries .Remaining all means stress, working hours, less time to spend with family are demerits. Is my opinion correct?
Answer: Not necessarily. People with analytical minds often enjoy the problem solving aspect of it. It can be very rewarding coming up with a piece of code to work around an annoying software problem. There can also be an element of creativity in it too depending on what sort of software you're developing.
Additionally, the hours are no longer than many other professional vocations so that's only a demerit if you're comparing it to a simpler job.
Question: What does a Medical Software Programmer do and can I be one? Hi, I have heard of it and think I am interested. What do they do exactly? Here is my education and experience so far. Is it an option for me?
I started off a computer engineering major. I have taken Programming I and II in Java and can write mid sized Java programs. I have Calculus I-IV. I then switched to Zoology because I like the biological sciences more and it can as an entry degree into healthcare.
My work experience includes 9 years of computer and telephone systems repair for the government (not PCs) repair.
My GPA won't be great and will hover somewhere around 2.6-3.2 when I graduate ( Mostly from a few Cs and Ds when I was in Engineering, I did do well in programming classes, though). I will be Graduating from OU next year (University of Oklahoma).
Answer: You have a good (but not great) background for medical software, I think. I'm not a medical software specialist but I have done biomedical research programming. 'Medical software' can include anything from health care management systems to systems that doctors use on their PDAs to record medical notes (instead of the old dictation), but it more often means the former than the latter.
The most critical thing you can do to inhance your employability is to gain some practical experience. Try to find a parttime position somewhere in that field or a related field such as working in public health, nursing, dental research, etc. If you are interested in the research side, you may find this requires branching out into statistical packages (SAS, SPSS, R, etc.)
The other thing I'd definitely do is make sure you have some database experience (Oracle, SQL server, etc.) -- some experience in this field comes in handy in almost any programming job eventually.
Question: What is the difference between a programmer and a software engineer? Or is there one? I was led to ask this because of a joke I read:
It has been said that physicists stand on one another's shoulders. If this is the case, then programmers stand on one another's toes, and software engineers dig each other's graves.
...and I didn't get the joke. So I guess what I'd really like is an explanation of the punchline of this joke, which seems to rely on understanding the difference between programmers and software engineers.
Answer: Honestly it depend on the company. EDS called it's programmers Software Engineers for a long time which did NOT go over well with real engineers. But then EDS "programmers" did a lot more than program in some cases. I would say that a Software Engineer is more apt to be doing design work on a system and dealing a lot more with customers face to face to gather requirements and come up with an overall product that will meet the customers needs where a strict programmer is just a code machine. Note that a lot of these programmer jobs are now being outsourced to other countries once the up front design work has been done.
Question: Is it easier to get a job as a computer technician, software programmer, or network administrator? I'm still trying to find out which field I want to go into in the future. Which job would it be easier for me to get hired into and have plenty of work laid out for me? Also which field has the most job security for the future?
Answer: It is hard to have a crystal ball but I imagine that by a computer technician you mean someone that deals with computer hardware and by network administrator you mean someone that either builds or maintain networks? These fields are often covered together in companies that employ in-house IT staff. If you have a good personality (can deal with prima donnas who have lost their passwords for the fourth time that day and it is all your fault) then this job has security. Not terribly well paid as it is not difficult.
Straightforward computer programming is not especially secure as it is increasingly either being sent off-shore or being template based. Designing programmes is always a great job but not everyone has the skill set to do that.
Question: Need to know how to prepare for a software interview Java Programmer with 2 year gap in between? I am 28 years of now and have a 2 year gap in between . Want to change from bpo to software and need to know how to prepare for interviews. I was a java programmer and also have 2 sun certificates . But the certificates are a year old now and i have forgotten most of the theory part need to know what new should i study to end up with a decent job in software. Need to earn 2anum at least.....
Answer: Hi,
That's good to hear. Let me clear you one thing. Software always need practical knowledge rather than theoretical. So, start from today to practise Java (Core and advance) with mini to major programs. You yourself rectify the errors when you get during compilation, execution.
Generally, Interviewer will ask you run time errors and few definitions and differences between two similar packages, methods, etc.,
Here, I'm providing you some weblinks where you can find questions and answers regarding core and advance java. If you want to have more you just search google engine.

Question: Is there a difference between a computer software programmer and a computer software designer? I am looking at Kaplan for software design, and Westwood for
software engineering. Which will be a stronger degree? What is the difference between design and engineering, or is it just a fancier name for the same thing?
Answer: software engineers should have the training necessary to design *and* code software. Go for that.
Question: what is a working day in the life of a programmer/software engineer like? ? Also, is a computer programmer the same thing as a software engineer? I am interested in going back to school for a second B.S. in Computer Science and would like to know more about it. How much do entry level jobs compensate in your experience with a B.S. in Comp.Sci? I know, thats a lot of questions but I really appreciate any feedback as I try to navigate my future.
Answer: First of all Computer science is a very interesting domain. A Computer programmer writes programs usually relying on specifications obtained by analyst/ analyst programmers. Whatever your qualifications it is good to start as a programmer. As a degree holder you will understand more the concept of programming , as your course will include topics like Algorithm Design at a much advanced level than , a certificate level course. You will also be exposed to System analysis , Management Information Systems, some management topics like Operations research, Economics,Management techniques and Accounting . If you have mathematics included in your course you are going to acquire a general level of maths at almost degree level.
With all this knowledge, you will not only design and test programs all the day, like for a programmer. But other things like Analysis of new systems from clients and doing feasibility study, costing, planning etc. This is the work of the software engineer . Also attending meetings about implementation of projects. In fact as compared to the programmer; the software engineer has a better background to deal with issues ranging from technical to management level.
All these are Ok. But nowadays ERP's, CRM, HRMS are emerging Those ERP Enterprise Resource Planning , Customer Relationship Management , Human Resource Management systems are Packages that are ready made and implemented in almost all organisations that can afford it. Of course there are also other jobs generated for systems engineers on the hardware side, for instance setting up servers, networking, databases, stations and peripherals etc. On the software side ,Usually a BS. Computer science can implement such packages after some training in the appopriate field finance, manufacturing , inventory , procurement, fixed assets . Most of the time those jobs are assigned to people of the appropriate field eg accountant, business admin graduate and the software Engineer are attributed only the donkey work of technical nature like customization of forms, reporting and programming tasks in the maintenance and amendmentsof those packages. At the end there is no interesting Career path, other than solving technical issues. Today there is a decline in the programming field as more and more organisations are moving towards those ERP business suite and more and more other professions other than software engineer are joining the ERP IT world and in less than no time be at the top . So I find that today to really plan your career , instead of undertaking fields like computer science that consists of quite demanding and complex topics; but useless on the working market. Where instead business knowledge is more valued and more promising in terms of revenue and career path. IT should instead be a subsidiary qualifications to fields like Accounting , finance, human resource, commercial , marketing , manufacturing. We may be aware today there are more and more Business Parks emerging, where consultants are being outsourced. The renumeration for people from computer background is much less.
hope that I my advice would be beneficial to you in the choice of your field of study and career.
Alan Ip.( software engineer).
Question: am i interested to build a career in software programmer, can u pls help which course is good and huge salary? i want to build my career in software programme, pls advice which institute is good with cources which will give me to earn huge money in after completion of course, am i ready to work very hard what ever course it may be.
Answer: SAP,CCNA,CCIE,MCSE.
Question: Do I need to be able to do basic maths in my head and fast to be a Software Programmer? I've always find it difficult to do basic maths in my head but I always get a "B" grade sometimes "A" in my maths exam if I have a calculator and if I studied enough. In case you were wondering I do algebra, induction, discrete maths, seq and series, everything a high school student needs.
Answer: No just need to know how to do the formulas on paper so you can code them in the programming language.

Question: who earns more money?A computer software programmer or a general medical doctor?how much? Now I am studying computer in my country, and 3 years later i will get my B.S degree, but i really like to study medicine in philippine, because in my country(iran)it is impossible for me to study medicine, which one is better for me to do?I'm 20 years old
Answer: A good one can make more than a doctor. Dont think on money.
which would you enjoy best?
Question: What kind of degree do you need to work as a computer programmer/software developer? Do you need associate degree or bachelor's degree? Let's say what kind of degree you will need for working at game companies, microsoft etc.
Answer: Definately go with the BS. An associate's really won't get you anywhere. The problem is that with just an associate's degree you probably haven't been exposed to sufficient software engineering, and knowing a language alone isn't worth a lot. An associate's with a few years of experience, that's different. But getting somebody to give you that experience will be tough with an associates.
The good news is, programming job interviews are typically done differently than other jobs, especially at Microsoft. You usually are handed a whiteboard marker and a problem. Once you get that interview, all that matters is how you prove yourself to the interviewer. I don't care if you have a masters or a PhD, if you are given a problem and can't solve it, it's over. But if you can, and you solve it well, that 2-year degree is all you'll need. Of course, this implies you actually get the interview... and as I said, that's going to be tough with a 2-year degree.
Good luck.
Question: is there an easy to use, noob friendly software programmer? After being frustrated with programs like Macspeech and Dragon naturally speaking I decided to dable in programming my own software, or better yet what I really want to do is tweak Mac speech or Dragon so I can do things like, program responses when i ask it to do something, program in more things like show me the weather for this weekend, or check myspace, for which it would reply in a british accent what I programmed it to reply......
So if anybody can help me then thanks!
Answer: unfortunately what you are asking for is actually covered by some very advanced programming techniques. Since you are using a mac you have some very good resources available to you at apple.com/support in the developers section.
I would suggest starting off with something like Java or C# to play around with the "connecting to myspace" part then look at more advance applescripting techniques to intervace with your network app to get the brittish accent you want.
Question: whats the difference about software engineer and programmer? Dont know whats the difference about software engineer and programmer.
whos bigger and whos stronger?
Answer: First of all ur questn is wrong it seems... not s/w programmer but called as computer programmer.. and there is no such major difference between them... engineers design and programmers implement.. some tmes vice versa.. and concerning to technical education.. all programmers are not techies.. but engineer is a person who hav completed his graduation in a university.. and a programmer just writes the code with or without having knowledge on previous analysis and design issues... but to run and execute a program succesfully as software both people are important ... :)
Question: Difference between software engineer and a programmer? I'd like to know the difference between a computer software engineer and a programmer. Also, which is a better career *in the field of software engineering* for businesses and companies - application software or systems software?
If they are the same thing..should I pick software engineer? I'm doing my college application and I'm wondering which to choose.
I want the career of whichever creates/programs .
The way I see it, one programs apps and software, and the other just makes them better and whatnot.
Answer: Look at it this way: "Software" is categorized as 'property' in business industry. In same manner, building software is like building a building. having a programmer build a software, is like hiring general contractor builder to build your house rather than architect & engineer. He(builder) could do it. Normally smart and sharp contractors, turn into builders. But you don’t want them to build your high-rise building.
For College application it doesn’t matter, between programmer and software engineer. You want to decide if you want to go to “school of business” or “school of science.”
School of business gets you BS in Business Administration, where the other is BS in Science. The difference is types of application you be working on.
Programmer could code any type of application, but engineer is specialized in either business needs software(accounting stuff), or more science oriented softwares (robotics – software that makes cars parallel park automatically – medical devices).
the only difference between software and building is that, you have to always start as programmer for software, but you don’t have to know how to install walls, before becoming construction engineer.
The actual view : Software engineer designs computer systems to meet some need. Or hired to maintain some software in use. coding is part of the system. the entire system is referred to as SDLC for Software Development Life Cycle.
System Analyst could be considered higher rank above software engineer. Depend on the size and extend of the software, normally software engineer does the job of the System analyst, in the same manner, in the smaller softwares, programmer do the job of software engineer.
as in-house analyst/engineer, not commercial, you are normally needed when there is a problem. you have training and expertise to find a solution, which most likely is 'custom made software' which you design, then give blue print (requirement specification) to the programmer and they build it.
commercial analyst/engineer is the one that creates a software to compete with other softwares to sell to public. easier with Business applications to do this, rather than science applications.
Software Development Life Cycle
Phase #1 Survey - survey the situation (learn what is wrong)
Phase #2 Study - study the current system.(how things are handled now - normally old legacy software or manual paper work.)
Phase#3 Definition - define user requirements (what needs are not satisfied with current system). The blue print of the software called 'Requirement specification' is developed in this phase.
Phase#4 Evaluation- come up with few alternative solutions, complete with cost/benefit and risk analysis and much more. this is where you have to be creative, sharp, & smart.
Phase#5 Design - Management will choose/approve one of the solutions, and now is the design phase. You are going 'create' some thing. {this is the part you like.} Design is derived from ‘Requirement Specification (RA).
Phase#6 Build - Once design is complete, and approved again by management, then time to use programmers for coding. You hire a programmers with experience in language of your choice to code it faster and better than you. You don’t want to waste time to keep your self fluent in any language, or you are going to lose the big picture.
choosing language is one the things you need to do in evaluate phase#4. Not all languages are suitable for all environments. You should know languages capabilities. Let programmer know/learn details and make it work.
Phase #7 delivery & installation.
Phase #8 maintenance - this is where job security is come from. now that management knows what they can do, they are going to ask for modifications & additions to software.
no one but the original creator of the software could do this better, faster, more efficient. then software becomes your baby. but programmer was only hired as resource, not the creator of the software.
Question: How to hire a software programmer or developers?
Answer: Create a position for a recruiting specialist/manager.
Pay them a decent salary to find and employ you the best personnel.
Question: If I am software programmer , what actually my work consisits of? Plz clearly explain. I will be thankful to u.
Answer: Your work will consist of some of the following steps
1) developing requirements:
a) what's my problem/what do I need to solve
b) how can this be solved
c) how do I solve this
2) creating a design plan
3) developing the software
4) testing it...probably doing back to step 1
Note, this isn't everything. I've left a lot of stuff out. You will need to be able to communicate clearly with your customers/boss, so that requirements and design implementations are translated properly. Software construction is only a small portion of what you do. Documenation is the largest part. You will write documents for quite some time ( assuming you have the communication skills and WANT to move up ). Documentation can include the above, in addition to source code comments.
I won't go into all of the details, rather, the above is meant to give you a tiny portion of what we do as software developers. Communication is key. Structure is key. Writing code is key, but writing code won't open all of the doors.
Question: Is a video game programmer also considered a software engineer? Are video game programmers also considered software engineers, or are they completely different?
Answer: Programmers and engineers are two different jobs. There may be some overlap in what they do, but in general, they're different.
Question: Is it easy for a junior software programmer to get a job in Los Angeles area?
Answer: Right now probably not with the economy so bad a lot of companies are not hiring.

If you must, then be sure to use an off shore machine for all your work, and make sure any communications are properly encrypted. Take extra caution to make sure three is no trail, no cache, no cookies, no nothing left on your local machines (this is harder then it sounds).
Question: Is it better to be a software engineer or a game programmer? I'm in a community college now and I plan on graduating from it with some programming knowledge, do I stop and try to find a programming job or get my computer science degree? I want to be a game programmer or maybe a software engineer, I want to have enough cash to be very comfortable. Any help???
Answer: If you are looking for job security and financial stability, software engineer, hands-down. Game programming is the "glamorous" field of computer programming. Consequently, there is huge competition to get in, and if you don't like the low salary, or the long hours, there are 10 other people waiting to take your place. So game companies like EA do not have to work very hard for their employees or make sure they are happy. Additionally, game companies go belly-up every day, and just as many get acquired or merged into larger game companies, and redundancies are inevitable - so people get laid off in large numbers.
Software engineering is not exactly a "cool" field, but it's far more stable and reliable. Not immune to the problems described above, but they happen far less frequently, more in line with other typical industries.
