Question: How can I get scholarship for a PhD degree in irrigation and water management program in the UK Irrigation engineering, Farm water management
Answer: You have to study hard and increase your marks. Also you have to create great resume to show your self.
Question: Which specialization in civil engineering earns more money? The specialization in civil engineering are :
1. Project Management
2. Transportation engineer
3.Structural engineer
4.Geo technical engineer
5.Water Resource Management
Which specialization has the best salary and which one involves more office work rather than outdoor work?
Answer: First things first, it depends on what company or organization you work for. The second thing is how many hours do you want to work? Project management civil engineers tend to make more money but they also put in a lot more hours than designers. As far as transportation, structural, geotechnical, and water resources...I would say there's probably not much of a difference depending on your experience, or if you're right out of school, your favorite in studying. If you work for a design firm that does many of the above items, it shouldn't be too difficult to switch between specialties as desired or needed.
Question: Where can you get example CEng civil engineering exam papers? I know that it is a 7 hour open book exam, I don't mind on the specialisation of the exam, it could be water management, structures, infrastructure or highways.
And also I am in the UK.
Answer: While I'm not familiar with the exam (I'm American, its slightly different here), I suggest this:
Do you still have any contacts at your university? Social Fraternities tend to be able to obtain nearly anything of this sort.

Question: Which of the following professions offers a good salary? Hello good people out there.I want to know which of the follwing offers good salary and good chances of getting a job easily after graduation.
MSc. Renewable Energy Management
MSc. Management and Technology of Water and Waste Water Treatment.(Process Engineering)
Thanks.
Answer: MSc. Management and Technology of Water and Waste Water Treatment.(Process Engineering) could be the better choice.
Question: Please rate my chance of getting into good environmental engineering grad school? I'm very interested in going to environmental engineering with the concentration of water management/treatment/technology.
I just graduated from U of Washington BS Chemistry and BA Geography (concentrate in Regional Development). Overall GPA 3.48.
I have research experience in computational chemistry and nanotechnology (same research)
Before I transferred to UW, I was in a community college, Overall GPA 3.74.
My parents are working in the environmental engineering field and I have some experiences in this field.
I will be attending U of Bristol in England for master degree in Water and Environmental Management (in Civil Engineer Department). After my master degree, I'm intending to apply to top environmental engineering schools like UCLA, Cornell, Wisconsin and Washington. I also very interested in universities from countries like Australia, UK and Canada.
What do you think of my chance? I have taken GRE but my score is extremely low (Verbal 290, Qual 690 Anal 3.5) so I will retake it again.
What do you think?
Answer: That is quite a good background you have in there for getting into the field. I have a collegue who works at one and has a similar background.
Question: Simple water engineering questions? Briefly discuss the following:
(i)
The importance of rainfall in flood management;
(iv) Generic components of a stormwater system.
5 stars to best answer, and many thanks!
Answer: Without excessive rainfall floods would not occur. It is important to know the rainfall tendencies for an area in order to determine drainage mitigation methods. If an area is prone to high rainfall levees or vaery large storm sewers may be in order as opposed to a simple drainage systems like ditches or small storm sewer pipes for areas with little rainfall.
The generics components of a stormwater system are: an area to be drained, a collection point, piping, possibly a detention area, and an outlet point.
Question: Which of the following profession offers good salary? Hello good people out there.I want to know which of the follwing offers good salary and good chances of getting a job easily after graduation.
MSc. Renewable Energy Management
MSc. Management and Technology of Water and Waste Water Treatment.(Process Engineering)
Answer: MSc. Renewable Energy Management to me is the clear winner as energy is a big thing and will get bigger :)
However, you shouldn't make a life choice like that purely based on salary. think about the jobs, if you would enjoy it and if you could do it for life. There is no point working yourself to a miserable and depressingng death just to get an extra 10,000 a year - Point is, Money isnt everything

Question: What is wrong with your city, and how would you fix it? From an engineering point of view, I'm just curious as to what the public thinks when it comes to imrpoving their modern metropolis, and how they would propose it should be done.
I know there are the most publicised issues, such as water and waste management, transport and energy efficiency. Has anyone got any complaints? Maybe noise pollution, or excessive carbon emmisions in particular regions?
I'd just like to know what people are thinking around the world... :)
Answer: Use the money that goes to building golf courses for the wealthy to get those schools in poor neighborhoods a computer lab.
Question: What type of engineering would be best for my interests? The types of things that interest me at this point are: power generation (how to make the actual system itself), new building materials, water (filtration, collection, waste, storage), resource management, and new ways of home construction. I will be going to college next year, and I was wondering what specific type of engineering would best fulfill my interests. Thanks for any helpful advice.
Answer: From the information you have given I would suggest Mechanical or Civil.
Question: Which Civil Engineering majors you prefer the most and why? (you may select one below)? a. Structural Engineering
b. Construction Technology and Management
c. Hydraulics and Water Resource Engineering
d. Transportation Engineering
e. Geotechnical Engineering
Answer: D. I like building motors.Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks... And I like making places for my motors to run. Freeway interchanges are works of art. They remind me of Roman Aqueducts, the way they reach across vast spaces, and hook up smoothly to one another.
Huge sweeping arcs, connecting one to another, just to maintain the flow of traffic...
It's beautifull.
Question: Trouble with mantainenace, management company for apartment? So I live in Chicago and I moved to a nice little studio apartment. Upon moving in, i notice 3 tiles were missing from my shower wall. I tell the "building engineer" about this and how I want it fixed. He says , "Okay i'll be back in a few hours. will you be here?" Never comes back. This same process has happened eight different times. i repeat eight different times. So finally fed up, I call the management company and tell them the same thing. I tell them that water seeps through the wall and causes a funky smell which makes me feel sick. This is really making me agitated. The management company ignores me as well. They say they will talk to my building engineer, light a fire under his ass and nothing ever happens. I don't want to hire an attorney unless its the last resort, but at the same time, I dont wanna be sick from this issue. I'm a tenant who has the right to get their dang shower fixed!
Answer: Stop making calls regarding the problem. Send them a certified/return receipt request letter outlining what you need repaired.
Question: Which university is better: Newcastle or Birmingham??? I'll be taking a water resources management MSc (school of Civil Engineering)

>> Waste Management
>> Health & safety
Section B: Resource Management
>> Energy
>> Fisheries & wildlife
>> Natural Resource Management
Section C: Environmental Sustainability
>> Education & training
>> Research & Development
>> Policy and Legislation
>> Communications & public Awareness
And a common factor between all is Environmental Manager
Mostly I’m interested in Section B (Resource Management) and C (Environmental Sustainability) and Environmental Manager.
Which major should I study? Environmental Engineering? If not, then which major?
would an Environmental Major help me? What about an Industrial Engineeirng Major?
Thank you so much.
Answer: I'm not sure what is offered at the university you are attending. But I seem to think that Civil or environmental engineering would be the best thing for you to pursue. Some universities don't offer environmental engineering as a degree but rather a civil program with some focus on environmental courses. You could also complete a civil degree and later pursue a masters program in environmental engineering. Judging from everything you've asked and what you are interested in, I think you should go after civil engineering. A degree in engineering will just be a start, once you have this completed it will open you up to pursue other things further that you are interested in.
Question: Have I been scammed by a central heating engineer? Hello, This may be a long one, so please bear with me. I have an alpha combi boiler, but of late it has been struggling to heat the water (heating worked ok). I called in a plumber who changed the diaphragm, and it seemed a bit improved. But gradually it got worse, and it was a struggle to get any hot water at all. The pressure needle would go really high and then sometimes, while running the hot tap the needle would go mad, while the boiler made funny loud slurping noises, and then you could see the needle pressure drop below the green. Another plumber came and he ummed and ahhed and said, I know what it is, its the diverter valve. I will come back tomorrow and change it. He turned up at about 10am, and opened up the boiler again, and started ringing suppliers to get the diverter valve. He said the shop could not find one on the stock list but there maybe one of the shelf, and that they were too busy to look for him, so off he went to look in the shop round the corner for a valve. He came back 30ish minutes later empty handed. I know he said, I think there may be one in my garage. Off he goes again and after about 45 minutes, comes back with one.....Hallelujah, a miracle! He said he got it ages ago for a job that he didnt end up doing, so it was just lying around. Next, he puts on this new valve, changing some washers etc, but the water is still not right. I know what to try now, he says. I will clean out the heat exchanger with acid. It may be gunked up. He does this which takes about 5 minutes, and then puts it back in. I have no idea if he tested the water after this. Then he says its still not right, and starts faffing about saying he needs to descale some elements, but has run out of acid stuff. I need to go and buy some in Sainsburys, he says. So off he goes for about an hour. Comes back, and I assume descales something or other. Oh dear he is still not happy. Now he says he needs something called a dimister??? and he does not have one, so he will have to come back tomorrow or monday. He leaves about 5pm, so about 7 hours work (we live in sussex), or 5 if you take off all the time in Sainsburys, the plumb centre shop and going home to his garage (considering he said the day before he knew that it was the valve, I was a bit nonplussed as to why he did not check his garage before he came to mine, thereby saving a lot of time...but then time is money!!!!). Anyway after he left the water seemed fine. The pressure was stable and there was not more erratic needle behaviour. Me and my family were able to have several baths and showers with no problems. Please understand, I am happy to have hot water again, but dubious as to the length of time it took to fix. I suspect a lot of faffing went on to justify the high charge. He came back Monday with the new dimister??? thingy, but after trying it he said it didnt work. ( I had been hiding upstairs because I did not want to talk to him, so didnt really know what he was doing, but it only took him a few minutes. So he rang someone and came back to us (I had come out of hiding by now), and said it needed a new heat exchanger. I told him the water had been fine since he left so did not want to pay for any new parts or labour costs. He said he had just run the hot tap and it cut off after 30 seconds. I said we had run several baths and showers since he left saturday and that it had not cut out once. He said that shouldnt be the case and looked sceptical, but I think he could tell by my face that I was fed up, so he took his last check of £50 (now making a grand total of £380). I told my mum I was dubious and she asked me if he left a bill with a break down of costs, and i said no, so I am going to text him today to ask for one. I get very intimidated by tradesmen, but I do want to know if I was treated fairly, and if not then I will query the bill. This guy does a lot of work for a friend who co owns a property management company with her dad, and she gave me his number. He maybe charge her fairly because she puts a lot of work his way, or maybe he is not being fair to her, but because I assume she is not around to know how long he takes, and what he is doing when he is doing the work, (I assume its usually her tentants who are there, and they dont pay). Anyway any thoughts on this job would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Answer: The fault would appear to be the choked heat exchanger.
The fluctuation on the pressure gauge would suggest poor heat transfer between the main and plate heat exchangers, causing the boiler to overheat.
The plumber was just guessing. The divertor valve,as you can see http://www.sparestraders.co.uk/product/alpha-3012752-diverter-valve-cb2428/ is well over £100 and the thermistor would cost around £15.The cleansing agent and inhibitor will cost roughly £40 for both bottles.A washer kit for re sealing all the joints is even £20.
Chance your arm and tell him you want a refund for the divertor valve, for one it was not needed and two,the diaphragm had just been renewed.
The total of £380 by some standards is not grossly over priced and the boiler is now working. You could also ask him to guarantee the work.
If he does work for a property management company then he probably will be Gas Safe registered.Ask your friend for his registration number and check him out on the Gas Safe web site.
Question: What kind of career do my interests fall into and what degree do i have to study? I am doing my a-levels in 2011 and then have to go to university after that.......... i am very intersted in the fields of global warming, developing eco-friendly technology, especially in inventing devices related to renewable sources of energy ( solar panels wind turbines, hydrogen power etc), i am also very interested in chemistry and again developing sustainable materials involving ecochemistry.....
I am not all that interested in waste water management and stuff but according to the above description what sort of career is this?
I researched on environmental engineering but it seems more about waste water and river pollution.
And is there any specific subjects i have to take? right now i do maths, further maths, biology, physics and chemistry.
thnx for the help
p.s- what country is the best for this kind of career? i am not really interested in studying in the u.k or usa but somewhere like germany, malaysia, norway or switzerland would be ideal.
Answer: I'd Major in Engineering with a minor in Micro Biology. Japan is pretty good place for those fields.

Answer: you need an engineering degree. i'm not sure what type would be best. keep taking all the science and math that you can. i don't think it matters where you go to school as each country will have the programs that you want. your problem will be getting accepted into the better programs. you will probably need a graduate degree and you need to do a complete evaluation of the universities that you are considering so that you can be certain to get into a school that has the programs that you desire.

Question: could some one please help me!? Please just read it and tell me what you think!
heres the prompt: Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
Under my feet, the light grey cement barrier trembles as the furious waves of the dark blue seas thrash up against the embedded wall. A gate lowers, parting the great sea. Blocked inside the wall, the water lies lifeless and cut off from its source of energy; the disturbed and restless sea on the other side of the wall. The carefully designed plank of metal which is over 17 feet thick, acts as the barrier between this wild and free open sea and the closed off, calm lake. These massive walls are anchored by pillars standing 12 stories high and stretching for miles across the entire cove. The metal barriers control the water current and prevent the seas from obtaining the 1/2 million acres of the polders, land reclaimed from the ocean. The beauty and contrast of the controlled sea and of man’s remarkable creation held me in awe.
This magnificent work of art is called the Delta Works. I was lucky enough to visit this damn in the Netherlands when my school developed an exchange program to learn about water management and controlling the seas. Although most people would not consider the Delta Works a work of art, to me it represents a unique art form. Unlike a picture hanging on a wall or a statue in a town square, it is the greatest water management structure in the world. Delta Works' beauty comes from the creative ideas of a collaboration of specialists and engineers who designed its intricate slabs of molded metal and concrete and made their vision a reality.
The Delta Works’ influence truly changed the way I look at the world I live in today. It helped me understand that finding a solution takes more time than causing a problem. I already knew I was interested in mathematics and scientific areas before I was selected for this opportunity. Seeing firsthand what these engineers are capable of doing motivated me to research what an engineering education could mean to me. I have always been an “outside of the box” thinker and enjoy problem solving in unique and creative ways. Engineering seems like it’s a field made especially for me. I have done my own research and seen the impact engineers have. I want to create my own engineering “art” and leave my mark on the world. I want to learn how to create unique projects like the Delta Works. I want to be part of the world’s solutions not part of the problems.
Answer: I like it. I think its a good essay and should get a good grade. Its interesting and has a good hook at the beginning. A report definitely worth an A.
EDIT: Aunty Joyce has a good point with the damn vs. dam thing. PLEASE fix that.

How exactly is funding science research gonna stimulate the economy? Or provide jobs for factory workers who got laid off??
Answer: Because all they hear is 1) Stimulus and 2) Free Money
and they are all on top of that like a fat kid at Sizzlers
Question: How can we change India, from producing job seekers to job creators? Every year our education system is producing 50 million job seekers - 6 million graduate engineers, 10 million diploma and various trade skills certified engineers and around 35 million science, commerce and arts graduates.
How many jobs do we create every year ?. Our education system produces only job seekers, NOT job creators. Why?. Because, we have failed to build our own education system and instead we just blindly adopted the "sincere clerks" producing system implemented by the British invaders. Our self confidence and thinking ability is killed in the primary school level itself. We grow brainwashed as loyal servants. I don't mean that we have to abandon the western system but we have to keep a balance.
Remember, we had around 750 million voters, above 18 years of age this year and it will grow every year. If we keep a ratio of 1:5 per family, we may need around 250 million jobs for a nation of around 1.2 billion people.
What are the major job sectors?
1. Agriculture
2. Animal husbandry, live stock, fishery and diary
3. Health care - Nursing and paramedics
4. Infrastructure - Roads, sewer treatment, river and water management, power generation
5. Education
6. Food Industry
7. Housing
8. Transport
9. Entertainment (Muslic, dance, cinemas, theatres, films etc)
10. Law and order (courts, police, civil defence, community service etc)
11. Tourism
12. Sports
Honestly, let us ask, do we get any good service from any of these sectors?. More than 90% will say a BIG NO. The overall efficiency and quality of service we have achieved is somewhere between 30%-40% maximum compared to reasonable world standards.
If we change our mindset from job seekers to job creators, we can easily create millions of jobs for ourselves. No need to leave our country or hometown in search of job.
How can we bring this change?. Please share your ideas.
I would like to suggest from my side that first, we have to launch a massive campaign like:
"I will be a job creator".
Answer: pullingggggggggggggg out undesirable ppl frm india.

I like what i read, and i want it...
But where do i study this major and if not found? What major is closest to it?
m not really that intrested in the waste disposal part but rather in the recycled materials and using them, using sun power etc.. also monitering food production!
My question is, does such a major exist?
Where can i study it?
And most importantly IF NOT, WHATS THE CLOSEST engineering MAJOR TO IT?
Answer: These days, all engineers must consider sustainability. It isn't a field, but an overarching concept.
Civil or environmental would be good if you're interested in water resources. Materials engineering would be a good way to go if you want to do something related to recycling and sustainable material design. Either biological systems engineering or an agriculture degree would serve you well if you're interested in sustainable food production.
Also, someone mentioned Engineers Without Borders in their answer. This is a great program, look for a chapter of it at your college when you get there (or start one!), they do a lot of sustainability work. EWB is not, however, a career option (you can't work "for" them), it is a charity organization that you work for in your spare time along with working for an engineering company. So another option is to find an engineering field that you'd enjoy doing, and then do sustainability work with EWB making use of what you learn in school and on the job to benefit those who need it.
Question: what is the best sub-field of civil engineering? Hi! I'm trying to decide which one is the best majors of civil eng.?
1. Structural
2. Hydraulics and Water Resources
3. Construction Technology and Management
4. Transportation
5.Geotechnical??
Thanks for the help :)
Answer: It's going to be different for each person. There's no one sub-field that's considered better than any of the other ones. Have you taken courses in any of these fields yet?
Question: JBHE Statistical Shocker of the Year: 2,100 Doctorates, but none to an African American? In 2004, 2,100 doctorates were awarded by universities in the US in the fields of mathematical statistics, botany, optics physics, human and animal pathology, zoology, astrophysics, geometry, geophysics and seismology, gen. mathematics, nuclear physics, astronomy, marine sciences, nuclear engineering, polymer and plastics engineering, veterinary medicine, topology, hydrology and water resources, animal nutrition, wildlife/range management, number theory, fisheries science and management, atmospheric dynamics, engineering physics, paleontology, plant physiology, general atmospheric science, mathematical operations research, endocrinology, metallurgical engineering, meteorology, ocean engineering, stratigraphy and sedimentation, polymer physics, acoustics, mineralogy and petrology, bacteriology, logic, animal breeding and genetics, computing theory and practice, and mining and mineral engineering. Not one of these 2,100 doctoral degrees went to an African American.
ORiginal article: http://www.jbhe.com/latest/122905_statistical_shocker2005.html
Mr. Jessup. Jessica, and WstCotter are apparently out ofotheir league concernining this topic. Suigeneris, your black instructors make me question the validity of your own education. Despite being a grad student, you still don't get the point.
This question leads me to part 2: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,301722,00.html
Duck_foo, ol' buddy! Notice how Education was NOT among the degrees listed? Read the freakin' article.
I'll just go ahead and beat the slow wits to the punch: The purpose of this article brings up my third point: Quotas are becoming more important than quality. In the competitive world, can we afford this? ---> http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20071015/FOREIGN/110150107/1003
Let me repeat myself: Those 2100 degrees are those in the ABOVE LISTED topics!!!!!!!!
LOOOOOOOOK.
I am totally aware of the grad degrees awarded to black in Education, Law, Medicine, etc. I don't think I have faith in 90% of them due to affirmative action.
Another thing, I was NOT the one who came up with this article, it was a black web site.
Mr. Jessup, I'll gladly answer you.
How many white men receive degrees in African-American Studies, Minority Feminist Conflict Resolution, African Immigrant Psychotherapy, and Diversity Management?
We can soon expect the "Powers that Be" to make it their top priority to award African-Americans with doctorates, regardless of ability, the usual ways e.g., forge more credentials, waive more academic requirements, remove more testing obstacles, etc.).
What I plan to do with it? Well, I was sold on racial diversity as a teen. I now know that it's a lie. The more people that become racially aware, the less they'll follow the dogma that is multiculturalism. Eventually, or hopefully, they will actively stop organizations that are slowly destroying this country. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/13/AR2007101300743.html
Straight from your link, Taranto: "41.3 percent of all doctorates awarded to African Americans in 2004 were in the field of education."
We all know about the quality of schools run by blacks like Priscilla Slade, don't we? http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/5195502.html
So far, not one of you has beaten me in this hollow debate.
Answer: hate to say this but they have no guts and glory to be smart they so busy getting in to fights and trouble and have kids they give up on life too early but not all a/a
Question: Find out which level of government, Federal, State, or Local has established each of these boards.? The pollution control, the public utilities engineering, the soil waste management, the utility billing and customer service, the water waste department and the water department.
Answer: This can be accomplished through a Google search...just Google each one for your area and the agency/company's website will tell you all the relevant info.
Question: Sustainability engineering? Need you help ASAP!! pleasee !? hey all,
i read on wikipidea that
sustainable engineers do:
Water supply
Food production
Housing and shelter
Sanitation and waste management
Energy development
Transportation
Industrial processing
Development of natural resources
Cleaning up polluted waste sites
Sitting and planning projects to reduce environmental and social impacts
Restoring natural environments such as forests, lakes, streams, and wetlands
Improving industrial processes to eliminate waste and reduce consumption
Recommending the appropriate and innovative use of technology
I like what i read, and i want it...
But where do i study this major and if not found? What major is closest to it?
m not really that intrested in the waste disposal part but rather in the recycled materials and using them, using sun power etc.. also monitering food production!
My question is, does such a major exist?
Where can i study it?
And most importantly IF NOT, WHATS THE CLOSEST engineering MAJOR TO IT?
Answer: environmental engineer is the actual name, sustainability is included in most programs.
most colleges and universities offer this program, but read more about it and you will find which ones focus more on the things you are looking for. there are alot in California now that have very dedicated programs to this field.
Question: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP WITH SCIENCE FAIR!!! PLEASE HELP!?!?!? i'm in 9th grade and i'm doing science fair research this year, and doing actual science fair next year. i can't think of an idea besides "The effect of different air freshener brands on plant growth"
i don't even think that it's the best idea. and i want to make it to at least state. here are some idea's that i narrowed down and could you please help.
by the way, it can't be tested on humans or vertebrates, there has to be a reason for this project, and it has to be tested (i.e.:which means i cant go to the sun to test it). and do you think my idea is good to begin with.
plus, it can't be a project something a middle schooler, or a sixth grader would do.

Answer: Get some water tests kits (pH, oxygen, etc) and test the local waterways (streams, rivers, and lake) over a period of time (maybe 2-3 times a week for a month). Research things like acid mine drainage, acid rain, fertilizer run off from farm fields and the like. Guarantee with a well put together project on this you will have a very good chance of making it to state. Email me (tfagrell@yahoo.com) if you need help, always a pleasure to help a fellow science fair researcher.
Question: while waiting for visitation and custody rights, is this okay to do with my ex? We are in the process right now of filing for child support and visitation. I wlll be the full custodial parent b/c the baby lives with me. We were never married and never lived together. He lives in michigan and me in ontario, however 45 minutes apart by car (border city). My ex bf wants to see the baby in the meantime but nothing has been done legally and her canadian citizenship is still in progress. My baby has american status (she will be dual soon).at this time only. My question is this. Do you think its okay for him to come over to my place to visit with the baby for an hour or two? I was going to leave and keep busy for a bit so that he can be alone with the baby. Im trying to be civil and respect his wishes to be with the baby b/c he lives 45 minutes away and cannot take the baby to his place right now, not yet. Some of my friends stated it was okay and then others stated to wait until the legal process is over and that the baby and i are protected first b/c he may do something "crazy" while im gone. I never thought about this before and now im gearig towards safety and waiting until the courts decide whats best. Its a sad situation but ive been really nice to him the entire time and being very civil and fair. He has never been a violent person or an abusive person with me or my seven year old (past marriage). However, he is angry and upset with me b/c im filing for child support and to this day, he thinks i will be spending the money on myself and that im using him. He wont get this out of his head. Its not true of course. The fact of the matter was that he has been very cheap since my pregnancy up until now. Cheap with money. When he did give me some cash, it was penny by penny whatever i bought or what i needed. Never any extra. Its not a way to be. We both have good jobs except he makes double the amount i do and i cut down my hours to 32 hours already from 36. So that is why we are going to court. Money is a major problem with this man. So please give me your advice in whether or not i should just wait untl the courts settle everything between us or i should go ahead and have him enter my home and see the baby? My other friend stated i should just meet somewhere in public with the baby so he can see the baby? What do you think the right thing to do is? I see my lawyer this thursday and of course, will wait for his answer b/c he is familiear with family law. My friends also think i should change my locks b/c he has a key to my home and that i should have my neighbour downstairs or someone stay close by in case something happens. Once again, my exbf has never been violent wth me or my son and is a very calm person. However, i only went out with him for 1.5 years and 9 months of this was pregnancy. Many say its still not long enough to know someone and i should be careful regardless and wait until everything is done legally. I just want the baby and him to continue to bond b/c she is only two months. He hasnt called or visited the baby now in four days and i even emailed him about some baby things im running out of. What do you think the bst thing to do is?
Please no negative comments like "you should of used protection before having a baby" or "stop being selfish". This is bridge under the water now. what has happened has happend already.
By the way, this is his first child too. He's 50 and im 41. He's an engineer but is in management for one of the major car industry for the last 19 years and im an RN in the states (although i live in ontario) for the past 12 years.
Kind words please.
the reason why im seeing lawyer now is b/c he was the one who first mentioned the word. he toldme he neededto protect himself from me in case i decide to sue him for back pay with child suport down the road. that is why im seeing a lawyer now and we broke up. I dont know why some people think im the one who doesnt want him to see his baby. He has decided to go to court before i even said anything.
i live in canada so family law here is practiced differently than in the states. However, child support is the same. Because the baby lives here with me in canada, it will go by family law here. Also, in canada, if the baby lives with the mother and she is fit she automatically gets full custody. The father always gets visitation rights as well unless he is abusive or a criminal. then he would need supervised visits. I want my baby to continue the relationship she has with her father!! I dont know why i keep getting replies that im trying to forbid that! Also, he hasnt called or seen the baby in days even though he has been told he is more than welcomed to call. So stop bashing me.
Answer: Change the locks on the doors NOW!!
Do not allow any visitation until the courts have rendered a decision. As the biological father with an American baby, he could kidnap her and once she is in the States, it will be up to you to then fight the charges of kidnapping. Cause really, she is his biological child, so how is that kidnapping? (that's the argument that will be used, when you call the police)
The amount of time you have known him has nothing to do with his behavior now. He has the money to fight you on this and once he's left Ontario with the baby, there's not a lot that you will be able to do to get her back.
Don't let him in your house and don't let him know where she is while you are at work. Be paranoid!!
Question: Should I just end it? Long post.? I'm pretty worthless. I'm a 21-year-old Egyptian male. After 3 years' studying informatics and 1 in management I'm starting college all over again in Canada. I'll be 22 when classes start. But with my pathetic C average I'm finding it hard to get hard to get accepted into good programs even as an entry-level student. So, I'll probably have to start over at a small-time school, work my head off and try to transfer someplace better after a semester or two.
I want to earn a finance or petroleum engineering degree, and then an MBA from a tier-1 school, but it's not looking good.
I've totally let myself go. I'm obese, at 5' 7" and 190 pounds. I'm a virgin, never hugged or kissed or dated a girl. I spend the day chatting and trolling online and stuffing my face with junk food. I often obsess about music, movies or video games to feel good. For intimacy with women, I use a fake pic and bio to attract them into cybersex. All of my online "relationships" (when I was myself) would crash, often painfully. I'm not really ugly, but even if I took the utmost care of myself I would just look OK. I'm short and I have a very Egyptian face.
I have no friends. I hate noise. I think most guys are f***ing @$$holes, brainless and loud, exactly like the Ultimate @$$holes gang from Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle if you saw the movie. And I can't approach girls who physically attract me. I'm probably going to see prostitutes once I have the money.
Here's my picture.

Sometimes I like to detach myself from life and just read and learn. I'm interested in theoretical things, like writing, history, politics, old literature, classical music, and the piano. I used to write old-fashioned sonnets and nonfiction that most people would say were marvellous. My dream might be to get a makeover and look attractive, become musically accomplished, get prestigious degrees, travel a lot, accumulate languages, write, and make money in engineering or management and investing in stocks. But at this rate I'm just dreaming.
I'm not miserable but I feel really tired, like I've lived a hundred years already. In school I was always a big fish in a small pond, but now I'm way behind for my age, academically, socially, sexually, experientially. So many failures and difficulties. No doubt even more ahead. I'm not good at coping under pressure; it's like water on electricity. Should I just end it? The world wouldn't be an iota different without me. My family hates me too.
Answer: Wo-hoaaaaaaaaaah! Slow down.. you're getting wwwwwway ahead of yourself there!
What's your fave TV show? Do you enjoy watching it? Do you really want to stop watching it? What about your favourite food? I'm sure you enjoy that... or your fave drink, your favourite song... just imagine how many things you would be depriving yourself from if you ended your life too soon.
I've been there, trust me, but I couldn't do it, because that's what we live for, right? The laughs, the good times the smiles and positive moments - surely? The people that count... the dreams you never thought you'd have the guts to go for... those silly risk-taking adventures you promiseed yourself you'd do before you die... there's so much more to life than what you see!!
And I knew that if I killed myself, I'd be depriving myself from SO many of those moments that I could have enjoyed...
I know there's a lot of crap, but without it, would we even appreciate the good?
I think if you came on here, you're crying out for help, not really ready to end your whole life... you are worth SO much, SO much more than you could ever know. Seriously like I could never put into words how much you're worth! And whatever it is you're feeling desperate about, that feeling is NEVER permanent, and you can get whatever help yu're crying out for, by doing this is a great first step... I know how desperate you must be feeling...
Committing suicide is the ONLY way for people to realise how desperate you are, how much they left you down, you want them to feel guilty and you want the world to notice how much it has screwed you over?
You can make your point, and I hope you do, but you don't have to lose your life to do that, there's a million ways, I'm writing a play, you can use your own strengths (and I know you have some amazing strengths you had the guts to write this on here) to make your point - so do it! Don't play the coward, that will hurt a lot of people agreed, but won't have as much impact as if you fight through it - trust me I know what I'm talking about!
Also - there is no single way to die that is painless, drugs means throwing up and incredible stomach pains... they are all excruciating... and falling asleep in a bathtub? Mate you won't fall asleep - you will be woken up by all the drowning and be completely traumatised as to how to suppress it! you sound like you've been through enough... why put yourself through more? BE kind to yourself! You deserve it!!!
And what about the people you leave behind? There is NO end for them, they are left with questions that are never gonna be answered, hardly fair. But hey... who cares about them... this is about you - how is THIS fair? How is feeling like this fair?! You gotta do something about it, change the pace, the routine... but for crying out loud don't pack it in - what are you actually gonna gain from doing that?!
Question: What Graduate degree should I obtain? if I want to continue working and making decent money.
I have a BA in mathematics and an MS in Engineering Management
I am a programmer. Most programming is done now in India (this is a creeping doom that will get the entire US before too terribly long), and this reduces the wages for programming in the US. I should also add that 'everyone' calls themselves a programmer, and this seriously waters down what it means to be an actual, competent programmer who can write in C++ or C#.net and SQL etc. Anyway, being a programmer today is being a machinist in the 1950s in my opinion, and it'll suffer the same kind of decline in wages/respect.
I plan to get another Master's degree, and I'm looking for ideas.
I'm considering:
MS in Information Technology
MS Quality Assurance (ISO, applied statistics, quality control etc)
MS Computer Science
MA Interdisciplinary studies mathematics/computer science [this interests me the most, but I can't see where it gets me at corporate]
-
Or something else...totally changing over to mechanical engineering or something is out of the question. I don't have the time or energy for that kind of changeover.
Environmental science?
Keys are: Must be easy to employ.
Answer: It's not clear why you haven't established yourself as an Engineering Manager. All the Engineering Managers I know are soldily employed, with six figure salaries. Because they manager complex projects they are not easily replaced by $3/hr programmers in Mumbai.
So, my first suggestion is to discover why you don't have a foothold in Engineering Management (perhaps you should have got a more general degree in Technology Management, but that's water under the bridge).
A couple of other career shifts might leverage your math skills:
Quant (the financial analyst type)
Actuary
Incidentally, the prestige of Machinists and Tool & Die Makers is rebounding. I took a certificate in Machining recently...
Question: About Job opportunity? Hi I am desperately looking for a job anywhere in the world since I am currently unemployed.I am original from South Africa and staying there and was employed by Government on fixed term contract for almost 5 years and my contract was terminated on August 2009.I am a qualified Civil engineering technician and have experience in design of roads, sewer, storm water and water pipe lines.I also have experience in site supervision and project management. My qualification are National Diploma in civil engineering and diploma in project management.I also have skills in computer literature such as MS word, excel and project.I have knowledge in designing Programs such as Road maker,Pipe maker ,Model maker and auto cad. Before I joined Government I was working for consulting engineers company. Please world help me I need stable income to cover my expenses.
Thank You
Answer: well, there's this really great site, that isnt a scam, its called treasuretrooper. its amazing. my friend told me about it and i earned almost like.. 15 bucks! :)

Question: What is missing from this Conservative bias "News"report? By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - The earliest official report of a New Orleans levee breach came at 8:30 a.m., hours after Hurricane Katrina roared ashore. Word of the possible breach surfaced at the White House less than three hours later, at 11:13 a.m.
In all, 28 federal, state and local agencies reported levee failures on Aug. 29, according to a time line of e-mails, situation updates and weather reports that Senate Democrats say raise questions about whether the government moved quickly enough to rescue storm victims from massive flooding.
The documents were released in advance of a Senate hearing Friday at which Michael Brown, the former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency was set to testify.
Brown is widely considered the public face of the government's sluggish response to Katrina. But he signaled earlier this week that he was prepared to discuss his storm communications with Bu$h and other top White House officials — a possible signal that his testimony would assign blame elsewhere.
The White House has barred some top advisers and staffers from answering Senate investigators' questions about the administration's response, saying that certain discussions and documents must remain confidential. But Brown, who quit FEMA shortly after the storm and left the federal payroll Nov. 2, is no longer covered by that confidentiality protection.
White House spokesman Trent Duffy said the president and his top aides were fully aware of the massive flooding — and less concerned whether it was caused by levee breaches, over toppings or failed pumps, all three of which were being reported at the time.
"We knew there was flooding and that's why the No. 1 effort in those early hours was on search and rescue, and saving life and limb," Duffy said.
Shortly after the disaster, Bush said, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees." He later said his comment was meant to suggest that there had been a false sense of relief that the levees had held when the storm passed, only to break a few hours later.
The Bush administration has said it knew definitively early Tuesday, Aug. 30, the day after the storm, that the levees had been breached, based on an Army Corps of Engineers assessment.
Democrats said the documents showed there was little excuse for the tardy federal response.
"The first communication came at 8:30 a.m.," said Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., top Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. "So it is inexplicable to me how those responsible for the federal response could have woken up Tuesday morning unaware of this obviously catastrophic situation."
The first internal White House communication about levee failures came at 11:13 a.m. on Aug. 29 in a "Katrina Spot Report" by the White House Homeland Security Council.
"Flooding is significant throughout the region and a levee in New Orleans has reportedly been breached sending 6-8 feet of water throughout the 9th ward area of the city," the internal report said.
Hint, just listened to a town meeting on radio, there they said "the Government does not have the legal power to order a mandatory evacuation" I clearly read on "miserable failure" site that FEMA has the power to take all assets and enter your home. They also can arrest you on the spot, No charge, no lawyer. Where is the truth?
Another hint, there are 1,242 letters written to the Federals, some are about the poor condition of the levees. According to Michael Brown. All long before Katrina.
Answer: This news was not biased, I read the whole story and it seems to lean against the administration. So what is missing? That they knew the levees were starting to break at 8:30am and did nothing to stop it? Would it have been possible? I'm not an engineer so I wouldn't know. It's all very sad and instead of placing blame I think the effort should be concentrated on rebuilding.
So do you think that if a democrat had been in office the levees wouldn't have been breached?
Question: Where was man? Ocean-Drilling Scientists Cite History of Arctic Climate Change PDF Print E-mail
Key Findings Published in Nature
A group of ocean-drilling research scientists that explored the Arctic Ocean subseafloor in Fall 2004 have released new findings in a report to be published in Nature on June 1. The report, supported by Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) research operations, contains analyses of subseafloor sediment samples gathered from 430 meters beneath the Arctic Ocean, near the North Pole. To recover the sediments that yielded the prehistoric climate records, the research team needed to manage three ice-breakers, one of which was equipped with a drill rig. The sediment records were recovered from the Lomonsov Ridge, in water about 1000 meters deep.
The IODP Arctic Coring Expedition (ACEX) scientists report their key findings in Nature:
* Evidence of ice in the Arctic Ocean was found much earlier than formerly believed, about 45 million years ago;
* At one time about 55 million years ago, Arctic temperatures rose to subtropical levels (about 23 degrees Centigrade);
* At one time about 49 million years ago, the Arctic was green, with fresh surface water and large amounts of fern covering the water, at least in summer months.
Expedition co-chief scientist Kathryn Moran, University of Rhode Island, notes that the overall age span of the sediments recovered was a few million years longer than was expected to retrieve. Such successful recovery was possible, in large part, due to strategic planning in anticipation of strenuous ice management. Planners had predicted that the three-vessel fleet could maintain the drilling vessel’s station for up to two full days, yet the station-keeping achievements went far beyond this expectation. The Vidar Viking was kept on location in multi-year ice for nine days—a landmark feat that empowered ACEX scientists to sustain their ocean-drilling explorations for a significant period. “The scientific community benefited from our extraordinary ice management efforts—we are the first to study full geologic records from the Arctic Ocean,” said Moran.
Moran’s colleague, co-chief scientist Jan Backman, a professor at Stockholm University, Sweden, also recalls the challenging research conditions. “At times, the drill site was covered with ice two- to three-meters thick. We encountered an ice flow of multi-year ice, harder and denser than ice from just one Arctic winter; it was like driving into a brick wall.” The upper sections (160 meters) of retrieved sediments indicate prevailing ice conditions during the last 14-16 million years.
A summary of the Arctic Coring Expedition, IODP Proceedings, Volume 302, is available online. The volume includes scientific and engineering results, drilling location maps, visual core descriptions and core photographs. Visit http://www.ecord.org/exp/acex/vol302/. Additional photos, excerpts from the original expedition logbook, a full list of science party members, and other details can be found on the expedition web page, http://www.ecord.org/exp/acex/302.html.
IODP Expedition 302 was conducted by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD), through the ECORD Science Operator (ESO), one of three regional IODP drilling operators, and the program’s specialist in mission-specific platform operations. ECORD represents 17 nations and operates in IODP as a contributing member.
IODP promotes scientific advancement of the Earth through monitoring and sampling of subseafloor environments. An international program that supports scientists from 20 countries, IODP receives its primary funding from the U.S. and Japan, through the National Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science, Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, respectively. For more program information, visit www.iodp.org.
Answer: your attempt is flawed for this reason.
the libtards are the ones promulgating the ridiculous theory of man made global warming.
your rebuttel is written on a college level
the libtard reads at a third grade level
and thats a memo
Question: More Biology? Homework Help.? Which of the following is a positive aspect of genetically engineered crops for the environment?
conservation of soil, water, and energy
bioprocessing for forestry products
better natural waste management
all of the above
I'm actually taking online Biology, so when I have questions I have to ask my famiy with help. My parents can't help me. They've tried. I can't e-mail my teacher as she is three hours ahead and won't answer until tomorrow and I need this question for my essay. She doesn't even help. There is no one else I can go to. I'm not asking for a direct answer, I would be fine if someone gave me some resources to look into. Just because I ask one question on here doesn't mean I don't pay attention. Online classes are hard and there is no one I have to go to.
Answer: you should really listen in class & not ask strangers for help. my sister is a biology teacher. it is best to listen in class & read you text book & anything you don't understand ask your teacher. it won't mean you are dumb for asking. If you feel shy ask after class. That's what teachers are there for. to help their Students

Working in government in water supply and sanitation. There seems little scope as a technical person but increased as managerial role due to chage in policy of govenment . Question: Is it possible? Well I am a student who recently withdrew from my chemical engineering course as I cannot see myself doing that in the future...so I already enrolled in a professional accounting school and would like to specialise in financial management in the future...I would be starting in July this year...thing is currently I am working as a part-time waitress...job that I was doing while still in my chemical engineering course...so now I am looking for a full-time job to save money for my studies at the accounting school...I have looked for a job for 3 months now and still havent gotten one however recently there was job openings for flight stewardesses...my qualifications meet the requirements as well as having no visible scars on face, neck and lower arms and above 1.58m, i have customer service experience and speak good English...i am trilingual as well only I dun swim..for those who dun swim you must be confident in water and I went snorkelling once in the South China Sea and enjoyed it a lot
I swam from the beach to another nearby island, saw corals, colourful fishes,Mayan turtles and sharks...I can float in water though...well thing is I really wanna try for this...benefits are good salary cos I have recently made the decision to be the sole breadwinner in the family after I get a full-time job cos my mum is mentally ill and usually cannot stick to a job for long...our income is very unstable...I would get to travel free once a year to any destination and I would love to bring my mum to Japan as I wanna find my father and rediscover my past...something that I have always wated esp for my mum...and my boss at the restaurant was a flight stewardess before she told me they only fly about 3 to 4 days a week which allows me to still take care of my family and do my part-time studies once I start...i know of flight stewardesses who study part-time as well...a part of me wants to try out for this cos I have been told before that I should consider being a model or air stewardess
I have been told I have a good figure and am attractive...stewardesses need to be pleasant looking....is just that the memories of being taunted of being ugly when young for being underweight, having long spidery legs, pale and flat-chested it haunts me though now ex classmates who see me now say my figure has evened out..not too thin or fat and say I have great legs...i used to be a tomboy as well due to the insecurity about my looks..I look wierd in photos as I have an assymetrical face that is why I never thought of modelling...my sister was always the pretty photogenic one...the taunts never leave my mind so now is like I am not confident of the way I look...I know this is really silly...however will it be very difficult to balance flying with studies?the airline I wanna try for is SIA Singapore Airlines....sorry for the long msg...full of funny emotions inside me now...
Answer: Its really very good to know that u know what u have to do in ur future & u r wrkg on the right direction. But if u r really serious abt ur career in finance..it require a lot of studying....which u can do which a part time job only.As in flight Stewardrsses job there will be no fixed time for ur job...which may affect ur studies.
If u really serious then do smthg which is related to ur studies...may be work in a Book shop or smthg like that..
