Question: Is there any license that would be helpful in going along the financial analyst field? I'm just a recent college grad, I really want to pursue the analyst path. Just wonder in addition to work experience, is there any license that would influence a employer's decision in candidacy?
Answer: Absolutely! As you well know, the financial services field is highly regulated and there are varying types of licenses that you are required to have in order to advise clients or sell certain financial products.
Because you did not specify what kind of financial analyst position you are seeking (i.e. investment banking, derivative structuring, private wealth management), it is difficult to advise you. Not all financial analyst positions require the same license. However, generally speaking, an employing company must sponsor you in order for you to test for the licenses.
To learn more about the licenses visit: http://www.finra.org/Industry/Compliance/Registration/QualificationsExams/RegisteredReps/P011051
While my response might have you feeling somewhat downtrodden because you may or may not be able to take individual action, something (other than obtaining a license) that you could do right now is look into the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). For the most part, the CFA is comparable to the MBA and is highly respected among employers and financial industry peers.

Question: how do I get started in the financial planning/analyst field? I see ads in my local newspaper of firms looking for trainees, no exp. necessary, sponsorship for the series seven , and I wonder if this is the best weay to get started?
Answer: Did you go to school for finance? The best way would probably be the way you mentioned, start with a company who will train and pay for your series 7.
Don't listen to CS R. If you are new to the industry with no experience, you would have a very tough time trying to take the CFA. That is considered one of the hardest, most in depth exams in the industry. I don't know what the other test he mentioned is, but the Series 7 is a good place to start as you need it to trade stocks and mutual funds.
Good luck

A small compay may add spreadsheets to the computer system for processing cost projects.
An anaylast migh recommedn tht a comapny stop using a spreadsheet for keeping data and move to a real database app like MS ACCESS or MS SQL SERVER.
A systems anlsy might recommend moving from dial-up to DSL or cable-TV data connetions to save money.
An Analys might look at the data backup procedure and institute weekly testing of the process.

Question: How much per hour would you ask for? BS in Biochemistry, Analyst 1 position, 1 year experience in field? Working in a lab environment exposed to dangerous chemicals. Working evenings 1PM to 9:00 PM.
Answer: I'm not an expert on any of those fields of work, but from what I know you should 1) first research the average salary for this type of job (maybe on google) and 2) ask your interviewer during the interview how much would be an appropriate salary, or what they had in mind (and then you can work from there)
This may not be the advice you're looking for, but I doubt someone else with a BS in Biochem, Analyst 1 position with 1 year experience in the field will happen to stumble across your question....

I want a bach. degree with a job that i can have fun and make alot of money.. please help if your in any of these fields.. plzzz thank you for your time
Answer: Which ever one you're most passionate about. In today's market job titles in IT can mean a variety of different things depending on the company. In my experience, especially in small to medium sized companies, there is a lot of cross responsibilities and sometimes you're stuck with all the responsibilities.
I prefer the networking, cisco, telecom side of things over the server (windows or linux) side of things.
As far as making the most money? The more you know, the more money you can demand. Especially if you're an expert with knowledge and experience.

Question: what does a budget analyst need to know? i'm going for interview tomorrow, and that's not really my field i have done some financial analyst stuff, but not much about budgeting, i'm just great with excel. But i'm wondering by budget analyst really gotta know. I want to ace my interview tomorrow. Thanks guys.
Answer: it's really just another name for probably what you're doing now. a budget analyst digs into variances between actual and budgeted/forecasted results.
It's not so much an excel thing as it is an understanding thing. if you understand the guts of the financials, how they work and what makes them up, you should be fine.
source - me, i spent the first 12 years of my career in various analyst roles.
Question: Do you get to do other fields of work as a systems analyst? As a systems analyst, your job is to design computer networks for companies after analysing their companies' environment.
However, do you also help them design a telecommunications system or a camera surveillance system?
Do you get to cross into other fields of work in the design of your clients' computer systems?
Answer: These workers figure out how to use computers to get things done. They tell businesses and other organizations which computers and software to buy, and they decide how to get those tools to work together.
Computer systems analysts start their work by asking people what they need their computers to do. Then, they plan a computer system that can do those tasks well. A system can include many computers working together and different types of software and tools.
After analysts understand what the system needs to do, they break down the task into small steps. They draw diagrams and charts to show how information will get into the computers, how that information will be processed, and how it will get to the people who need it. For example, analysts might decide how sales information will get into a store's computers and how the computer will add up the information in a way that makes it useful for store managers.
Analysts experiment with different computer system plans. They try various tools and steps until they find the system that is fastest, easiest, and least expensive.
Next, analysts decide which computers, software, and tools to buy. They also tell computer programmers how to make any new software that is needed. They give the programmers step-by-step instructions. Some analysts help make the software, too.
The main job for some systems analysts is getting computers to work together. They connect them into a network. Analysts decide how to get information from one computer to another. Many help people get data from the Internet.
After planning a system, analysts test it to make sure it works. They check to make sure that information is processed quickly and without mistakes. They also watch to see if the system is easy to use. Often, they have to change their plans to make the systems better.
Computer systems analysts work in offices or computer labs. Some work from home. Working at the computer for a long time can give these workers eye, back, or wrist problems.
Sometimes, these workers work long hours to get a project done on time.
Analysts usually work as part of a team.
Question: I am going to finish my M.Sc Statistics in the current month . I am interested to work in the statistics field I am going to finish my M.Sc Statistics. I want to work in the field of statistics like data analyst or in the field of clinical research. What are the companies hiring these type of requirements.
Answer: You may work as a freelance at website like http://www.getafreelnacer.com/ , just bid for all statistics projects posted there.
Question: How difficult is the field of investment banking? Do you have to be really good at math to be an analyst, associate, or vice president in this field? What sort of skills does it take?
Answer: With a bachelors degree you can work up to analyst, although some have gotten to VP (but that is rare now). You need a LOT of math--the analyst positions do all the "grunt" work in an I-Bank. Your day will be tons of spreadsheets and analyses of situations in world markets. You gradually specialize in an area (such as beverages or hospitals or airlines) and then you need to gain a lot of information in that area as well. Most I-Banks expect their analysts to go for an MBA or a PhD in economic modeling in order to move up in the company. You need math through at least first derivatives (calculus), finance (probably at least 3-5 courses) but also classes like philosophy help as well (critical thinking skills).
Question: What "degree" is best to have for becoming a Forensics Scientist/Lab Analyst? I am going to college to acquire my future job, a lab analyst / one who collects evidence in the field of Forensics.
I've heard most do not hire with a forensics degree, and it's better to acquire a biology or chemistry degree.
So what is best to aim for? I am willing to try anything. I would like answers from a real forensics detective/lab analyst/ cop etc.
Really? Become an officer? I know that could never happen but is that the best way to go?
Answer: Chemistry, biology, etc. as well as a BA in Criminal Justice, or CJ Administration. Best would be to get a masters, or PHD in Chem or Bio. along with the CJ degree.
Here's the downside (and PLEASE don't take this as an attack!) but after TV started producing shows like CSI, Bones, Numbers, etc- We (Police) have seen a dramatic surge in people wanting to go into forensic sciences. The reality is that there are ver few forensic positions available in the country, as there are very few crime labs around. I do not want to burst your bubble, just make you aware that there are a TON of people wanting into the field, and so very few positions available.
A great way to get into the job would be to obtain a degree in one of the sciences and then obtain Police certification from an academy. Become an Officer for a while, and keep going to school to obtain a Masters degree.
Best of luck to you!
Question: What do I need to major in to become a Crime Laboratory Analyst? I want to go into the Forensic Science field, but I want to be a Crime Laboratory Analyst and a Crime Scene Examiner. First off is it possible to be both? If I had to choose, I would choose Crime Laboratory Analyst easily.
What do I need to major in to become a Crime Laboratory Analyst?
Answer: It is possible to do both, but not at the same time. You may find that after a few years in the lab you want to get out and about and that would be a perfect opportunity to get into the role of a CSE.
You also need to understand that within a Crime Lab there are many different fields and specialties so the branch of study you undertake will depend on what area you want to get into. For example, if you want to be a DNA analyst then you'll want to do a Biology or Biochem degree. If you want to be a Forensic Chemist then you'll need a Chemistry or Forensic Chemistry degree. You can either do a straight BSc specializing in a particular area, or you can do a Forensics degree specializing in a particular area. Either way they both should be adequate for you to get a foot in the door.
The best advise I can give you is to contact someone in your area who is currently working in your dream job. Ask them what they studied, what the recruitment process is like, if they like the work, if they have any advise on how to get the job. They're the best source of information. They've been through everything you'll need to go through to get the job so they should have all the answers you need.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
Question: How to get a Degree as a Research Analyst? I wanted to know what kind of degree i need to work as a Research Analyst or in the Research Management Field? What kind of classes do i have to take? Do you think i'll be better off with my Accounting Degree? Thanks
Answer: It really depends on the type of research you want to be doing. If you want to be doing medical, biological, or chemical research, you need to be in one of those fields. If you want to be doing policy research (such as education policy, crime policy) you are likely to benefit from a social sciences degree that has a research element, such as sociology.
Question: Is colorado springs an ideal place for an intelligence analyst looking for work? MY son is an intelligence analyst who is trying to find workin his field in colorado springs. Is there a good chance for him there? He is ex navy and has worked with Lockheed Martin in Tampa. Titan in Virginia, and Northrop Grumman in Maryland
Answer: Blanca, your son needs to spend a weekend there to check out the industries and companies which may have employment for someone trained to his degree.
I don't know the answer to this question, but I do know Colorado springs is a stunningly beautiful place!
I also can steer you to a couple of websites which may help him.
The first one is Colorado Springs, Economy and Business Data, this would be the most helpful to him though businesses are not named:
http://www.city-data.com/business/econ-Colorado-Springs-Colorado.html
And the city's Chamber of Commerce Website may be helpful; it has a business directory:

Question: What are the chances of turning a seasonal financial analyst position into a permanent job? I have been offered a seasonal financial analyst position with a shipping company, probably for the holidays. I know that some retailers offer their seasonal staff full time after their stint but what about a more specific field like finance? Has anyone had any luck in converting a seasonal gig into a full time gig outside of retail? I must say that I am qualified for the position and I will be pursing a M.B.A. in the spring. Any help would be appreciated.
Answer: I am a recruiter in the finance field...Here is my opinion. Temp to perm is growing trend. Having said that, if you were told up front that it is seasonal, it probably is. If you are really interested in making it perm, ask. Maybe not on your first day. Also, as you proceed down the career path, you will glean information about this particular company by working with the members of your team. If you are not working now, take the seasonal position. At least this way you will avoid glaring holes of unemployment in your resume. Good Luck!!
Question: What Excel features and functions are needed for a pricing analyst? I was wondering what excel features and functions one needs as a pricing analyst. I am doing a report on employment caracteristics for a school project and know that excel is an important tool for this field. Any additional info anyone may have on this field will also be helpful. Thanks.
Answer: I used to work as a pricing analyst. Pricing calculations in spreadsheets are known as price models. Price models are data models i.e. calculations that take inputs, perform some mathematical operations, and then output a result. Factors such as revenue, fixed costs(overheads), variable costs, semi-variable costs, units of product, discount margins, price etc can be either inputs or outputs, depending on what you want to model. For example, if you want to know what your profit contribution will be for a given set of costs, sales volume and price, then the inputs will be costs, sales volume and price and the output will be profit contribution. Alternatively, if you know your costs, sales volume and the profit contribution you want, you can work out the price that you would have to charge to achieve this, so inputs are costs, sales volume and profit contribution with price being the output. So data models are simply sets of algebraic equations where you solve for the required variable based on the values of the other variables, which you do know.
In terms of Excel, one of the most useful tools is Goal Seek. This can be used to solve for any output you want without having to go into the model and change the algebraic structure of the model or the inputs. It is basically an equation solver. So if your price model is set up where (1) Revenue = Units Sold x Price (2) Total Costs = Units Sold x Cost Per Unit + Fixed Costs (3) Profit Contribution = Revenue - Total Costs, and you link these equations in your model, Goal Seek will model your price for you based on whatever costs, profit contribution and/or units sold that you enter into the model. You could also, for example, enter price, profit contribution, cost per unit and fixed costs as inputs into the model and use Goal Seek to output the number of units you would need to sell in order to achieve the profit that you entered.
Other Excel functions that are useful include the Scenario tool (Tools>Scenario). This allows you to easily compare the effects of different inputs on your model. These can be used with pivot table reports to display the results of more than one scenario on the same page. Pivot tables are a powerful tool to summarise and display data.
Finally, the VBA programming tool is very useful in price modelling. VBA is embedded (included) in Excel and can be used for complex modelling calculations which would be too complex to perform using in-cell formulas. You can also use it to create user defined functions, which add calculation functionality. For example, Excel aready has a function called SUM. To use it, you would just write +SUM(1,2,3) and Excel will sum whatever is in the parentheses, in this case 1,2 and 3. You could create for example a function called DISCOUNT, which you could program to discount the number in the parenthesis by a given percentage, say 20%. To use it you would then enter for example +DISCOUNT(100) in the cell and the number displayed would be 80 (100*0.8). So user defined functions can be used as shortcuts for calculations that you perform frequently.
Other info on price modelling... to do this job it helps to have a degree in business or other mathematical degree. It is also very helpful to have a background or training in IT, especially in Excel and databases. It is common for accountants to specialise in pricing, although you do not need to be a qualified accountant to do the job, just background knowledge of accounting principles.
In terms of where pricing analysts are positioned within a business, they are part of the finance function, which works closely with the marketing function of businesses to set prices for products and services. The pricing function is internally focussed in that it defines the prices at which a company would like to sell products or services whereas marketing is externally focussed in that it investigates the market for the product/service and feeds back information to finance on the effect that prices will have on the volumes of product/service that the company can sell. For example, if pricing analysts calculate that a product would be profitable if it were to sell 500,000 units at $10 per unit but marketing believes through its market research that the market would only buy the required volume of product at a price of $8, then the company's managment could decide to attempt to cut its costs, or to redevelop or reposition the product, or abandon the product. Conversely, if marketing believes that the company would sell an acceptable quantity of units at $15, then management could decide to charge a price closer to the $10 to achieve more market share or charge a price closer to $15 to increase the product's contribution to company profit. This is where things start to get complicated, as you get into concepts such as price elasticity of demand curves to predict how sales volumes and therefore profitability will change at differing price levels.
Hope this helps - if you need any other info on price modelling let me know!
Question: Which laptop is best for a financial analyst or other related field? I am looking to purchase a laptop and am curious which I should go with, as I am a finance major and want to purchase something that will be optimal for my career as a financial analyst. I assume a laptop with an independent numeric key, but beyond that, any advice/suggetions? Thanks!
Answer: you won't have much of a career as a financial analyst if you base it on advice obtained from yahoo answers. Its the software not the laptop you would have to be concerned with.

Question: Does anyone know how much a sales analyst with 4 years of experience in the CPG field in Northern CA makes?

Question: what is the annual salary for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Texas (Anyone working in the field please)?
Answer: I think your best way to get this answered is to hit some job boards online and search for that position. Some of the postings do include a salary range.
Question: On becoming a behavioral analyst or nonverbal communication expert? How do I become a behavioral analyst specializing in Facial Expressions and Gestures OR a nonverbal communication expert? More specifically, what college classes will I need to take, etc.?
Also, are there any certificate programs available for facial expression/gestures or nonverbal communications?
All advice and past experiences regarding this field of interest will be greatly appreciated.
Answer: I think I know what you're asking. Like can you take some sort of test and be a "certified behavioral expert" or something. First of all, I don't know the answer to that one. But I think I can help you with the other part.
I am a graduate student in Communication Studies. I have taken classes on Nonverbal Communication, Communication of Emotion, etc. These are the types of courses you should be taking. Also, probably some basic communication courses as well. As for becoming an expert...sadly in this field the best way to become an expert is to publish, publish, publish. You should get an undergraduate degree in communications or psychology, then begin work on your Master's in Communications. It is at this point that you can begin doing experiments/research and start to publish. You might be able to do a lot with a Master's but to really be taken seriously in this field, you will need a PhD. Once you have many publications, people will start to cite you and you will really look like an "expert." A nonverbal "expert" just came to my university and lectured in our department for a few days. He wrote a book called "The idiot's guide to Body Language." He didn't do anything more than just do lots of research experiments and then publish them. That's all you gotta do. It's hard and it takes a long time. :(
Question: What are some beginner jobs with transferable skills to the accounting/finance field? If a person wants to work as a financial analyst/adviser, bookkeeper, or an accountant and has the right degree but no experience in the field, what are some start-up positions with transferable skills that will help land the aforementioned jobs? (Besides a teller)
Answer: You mention you have a relevant degree, with that you should be able to find an entry level position within a finance or accounting group at a mid/large company. If possible try to find a company with a good rotation program, where you would rotate through several areas of the company every 12 months or so for a few years and then determine which path you want.
If you cannot get into a company like that yet try to find a smaller company which does bookkeeping, CPA, financial planning, etc and see if they have any data enty type of jobs or something similar.
You should try to sit down and think about what it is you like and would want to do long-term....although Finance and Accounting are similar they are defenitely different paths. Here are a few examples.
Finance - planning, budgeting, analysis, M&A, treasury
Accounting - CPA, audit, financial reporting, A/P, A/R, control
Good luck
Question: Would you recommend being a web analyst? I am graduating in December and am still somewhat unsure of what career field I will choose. I am getting my BS in Applied Economics with minors in Business Administration, Geography and Computer Science. I feel that being a web analyst would be an interesting job because it deals with both business and computers.
For the web analyst out there, would you recommend becoming one? Do you enjoy your job? Thanks for any help!
Answer: I have a friend who is an analyst and really hates it. She is trying to get a job as a software QA and says that it is a more stable career path.
Question: What are my chances of using my degree in a related field? I will be graduating with a BSB, Accounting this December. What are my chances of getting a job in Finance? Such as an analyst. I was a victim of being too far in my program to change my major after realizing I love Finance...last semester..geez!
Most pre-reqs say "degree in finance or related field of study". Anyone have some advice, or possibly managers in this area have some insight?
Answer: I'm not really sure, but you can research majors and careers at www.collegeboard.com.
I'm actually going to major in Finance, an MSF, starting in August, and I'm going to be getting into financial management.
Question: Becoming a Financial Analyst without experience? I am looking to become a financial analyst but have no experience in the field. I feel like my 4 years in college studying Finance should count for something, but everybody still wants a couple years experience.
I wouldn't mind starting with an internship, but most places require you to be in school for an internship.
So it's too late to get an internship but I can't seem to figure out how to gain the necessary experience for an entry level position. Ideas?
Answer: Try get some other role in the financial services industry like back office or accounting etc and move from there
Question: What professions could I transfer to if I had 5 yrs experience as an IT system analyst? I have graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and I am working as an IT system analyst specialized in WinCC (PLC), Wonderware InTouch and BarCoding. After having this experience, what professions (JOBS) could I transfer to which are more related to my field which is Electrical Engineering?
Answer: There are a couple of common career paths for someone of your background - so you have many options.
1) Move upstream to business process definition, business analysis, requirements definition
2) Move downstream to hardware development
3) Move laterally into either technical program management -or- systems architecture
4) Go up the mgmt ladder and manage a team of systems analysts
5) Leave the profession entirely and move into something similar like sales engineering or technical consulting.
There are the 5 most common career paths. Best of luck - I hope this helps you!

i want to join yahoo in SEO field as a seo analyst. i have 1.5 yr exp. in seo field is it possible? now i am working as a seo analyst in banglore company please suggest me
thanks
Answer: Go to the main page of Yahoo, there will be a link to a Careers section with open positions at the various locations, and an online application. You have to look to see if they have any such positions open and make your application. If you prefer you can get the address and send them a letter with your resume and objective, but likely if the job isn't posted, they aren't interested.
