Answer: Technical analysis uses mathematical models and charting technics to make stock buy and sell decisions as opposed to looking a business fundamentals such as sales, earnings, dividends, market share, and products, and management skills. I think training in mathematics and statistics would be the best preparation. Re-numeration can be very good, particularly is you make good picks more often than bad ones.

Answer: Jim Cramer is a little bit of both. He is primarily a fundamental guy. He is however a short term investor (because short term makes for more exciting stock shows). When he talks to a company CEO about the future profit potential of the company that is fundamental analysis. When he talks about money being allocated from certain hedge fund managers to specific sectors he is using technical analysis.

Answer: I would have to think that a forensic technical analyst falls under a Forensic Science major. A financial technical analyst would require a business degree nowadays likely an MBA. As far as a good choice of degree for this field a Bachelor's/MBA in Finance.

Answer: What are your qualifications, experience, background? What schools did you attend? Did you graduate with honors? There are some "first things" that must occur before getting a job, let alone a "good" job. One thing that will help is if you communicate effectively, and learn how to write a complete sentence with good grammar and proper capitalization. If you are lazy, nobody will hire you; no point in looking or asking.

Question: How does one start as a stock broker or technical analyst for the stock market, when he has no experience?

Answer: Note that these are different things. A stock broker is exactly that, a broker, i.e. a salesman. So if you want to be in a job where you sell stocks to people because some big player is dropping them on inside knowledge that it will go down, then become a broker. Alternatively, to become a technical analyst will take time and money to train yourself. You will need to complete a training program (such as the link below) that will train you how to trade any market, any stock, commodity, index, etc. So take your pick which you prefer. Personally, I prefer to make my own money as a technical analyst trading my own money.

Answer: Bombay Stock Exchange runs few very detailed courses to become analysts. ChartAdvise conducts in-depth course in technicals ( costly but in-depth and they conduct only in Mumbai) NISM ( National Institute of Securities Markets based in Navi Mumbai and sponsored by SEBI) conducts few full time courses. They are very costly but could be helpful to you. Ofcourse their courses include lots of topics associated with the stock markets and financial markets and not only technical analysis. ICFAI at Hyderabad may be having few modules on the same. OR You can get into touch with a friendly / known to you stock broker / sub-broker( e.g. Angel Broking Ltd). They conduct workshops few times a year on the subject. Pay their fees ( sometimes they charge nominal fees and sometimes totally free of cost) and attend them. Read a lot about the subject ( books / websited / magazines / e-books etc). Try observing your results in real time. There are few good softwares which will do lot of technical analysis automatically for you. If possible - buy them and study the system. Wish you all the best!

Answer: Depends who you ask. I love technical analysis. Others combine it with fundamental analysis, and it is only part of their trading strategies. At the end of the day, people only care about if you can make them money.

Answer: You will need credibility beyond your own self assessment. Current clients is one source. Writing a newsletter where you are on record with your strategy and it has worked out in time is also a good way. Back-testing is useful, if it is done with proper methods, but few people understand how to do it and how to prove it is not just "curve fitting." Getting rich people to trust you with their money is primarily via word of mouth. This has it's risk for them, however. Think Bernie Madoff. If you have one among your clients, that's a good start. If you don't, there are ways to do it beyond the scope of this answer.

Answer: Approach some brokerages. They might employ you. But I would suggest you to open your own advisory services, if you are really confident of yourself. You will need to market yourself, but in the long run, that has more reward than a job.

Answer: Math skills through algebra. Statistics. I would also recommend strong computer spreadsheet skills. A budget analyst should be able to develop complex models using a spreadsheet program like Excel. Answer: There really is no standard on terms like this. The meanings will vary from employer to employer.

Answer: I disagree some with the first answer. Technical writing and business analyst can go hand in hand in many companies, and this is exactly what I do. It's a great benefit to have techical writing skills as a business analyst. But different companies define these positions differently, so it will depend.

It seems that a BA wears many hats where I work, not only taking on the role of a BA, but helping with QA, support, and documentation.

Answer: With due respect to the other answerer, a BA should never be doing any significant amount of programming expect in the smallest of companies. If a BA is doing a BA just then they are not necessarily technical in nature so they wouldn't be able to assist in troubleshooting technical issues. Their job is to understand and translate business needs to requirements for architects and developers. That, for the most part, should be technology agnostic. Not to mention that the technology in eCommerce can change so rapidly they wouldn't be able to keep up. That said, depending on the company and the person, everyone can wear many hats. I'm a System (Infrastructure) architect but I play PM, BA, developer, tester, etc. depending on the circumstances. Ideally, the answer is no. Practically the answer is the probably can't or shouldn't. Pragmatically maybe.

Answer: Chart patterns in my opinion are the best way to actually make money in the stock market. They work a good amount of the time. In my experience chart pattern hit their target about 1/2 of the time. You have to be able to have a plan set in place for when they don't work. Happy trading

Answer: I've been working on a ta based mechanical trading system for 7 years. During that time I have run into literally hundreds of armchair gurus who said ta won't work or random walk or any other buzzword-cliche. It took me a few years to figure out the way to measure their depth of knowledge was to ask them about their own work in the area and/or for a constructive suggestion in regard to what they said won't work. Ain't gonna happen. If you use multiple indicators to cross check each other and accept as a given they are not perfect, much progress can be made.

The hard part is going to be getting that technical interview that shows you know the details and not just how to write about it. Answer: Most training institutes arrange for one or two interviews from companies with an understanding the HR teams. the recruiter doesn't required to select , but they need to conduct the mock test. this is the common scenario to attract the students. even if they really have association with them selection is depends on the demand at Companies at the time. testing is having reasonable demand today. Be positive , learn the course well and in Parallel prepare for group discussion, aptitude test, and focus on communication skill improvement (if required).
