Question: Which career is better .....SAP implementer or industrial business analyst for young production engineer?and y
Answer: analyst. more opportunities...and higher pay i'd imagine..
Question: For young production engineer, Which career is better .SAP implementer or industrial business analyst ?and y? please tell me which of them has more opportunities and high salary?
Answer: Depends what you want to do. If what you want is a high salary only, then you should have been a doctor.
Seriously, don't pick a job based on salary alone.
Question: for young production engineer, Which career is better .SAP implementer or industrial business analyst ?and y? please tell me which of them has more opportunities and high salary?
Answer: #1st of all you are young production engineer.
Industrial business analyst requires a lot of on-hand experience.
SAP is a world wide accepted standard for business solution. It is a paperless concept.
All the transaction codes in SAP , except custum made transaction codes are common at wherever you go.
As a young engineer with computer back ground ,SAP is far better for you.
There is a lot of demands of SAP consultants as well as programmers and working people on SAP in present scenario.
At present,I am struggling with Understanding SAP in totality because of lack of good computer literacy .I am finding other people doing nicely in SAP , especially young people.
Learning is not always easy at all the ages.
*So, it is "SAP" which has more opportunities and high salary.
You just go through yahoo groups, orcut groups, job searches etc. , you will come to know the demands of SAP.
Best wishes.
Question: do you support my decision to change my career to IT and ERP in manufacturing insteade of Production Engineer? i wanna know if i will be a system analyst or a consaltant in an IT company or ERP systems will componsate me well or no...knowing that i love this career and it has a very good salaries in my country.....how can i start and what can i study? will my degree of production engineering give me an added value in this field?
Answer: It is hard to say you are making a wise decision until you set all the cards on the table.
There are two considerations to make for career change.
1) Does the career change require a change in which you will need to build a completely different set of skills? If it does, do you have the financing?
2) Does the career change require immediate skill transfer- in which case you do not have to go back to school? If that is the case, this may be the way to go.
Difficulty in finding work may not be a reason to change. The reasons you are not succeeding may be.
I suggest you look into these two considerations by doing investigation through informational interviews and assessments of your skill levels.
Good luck
Question: business analyst reports look at details? hie
want to know in which website you can view sample business analyst reports specially in areas regarding steel production and manufacturing.
also tell me website on free sample casse stduies
bye
Answer: I'd very much doubt that people will publish confidential business reports like that on the internet for general viewing. You could perhaps look at annual reports for these companies that will show turnover and profit etc.
Question: How do you become a legal correspondent? I am going to law school next year and plan on practicing as an attorney both on the defense and prosecution side. Eventually I want to become a judge. On my long exciting journey I would really enjoy being a legal analyst or correspondent for a big news corp like Fox or CNN. I have a B.A. in Communications with a minor in Electronic Media Production. Eventually I will have a J.D. what else do I need to do to get a spot on the news like Megan Kelly or Kimberly Guilfoyle?
Answer: After law school contact these folks with your credentials and go for it.
If you want something just put it out there.
Question: Has our Congress gone insane or just stupid? Voting to sue opec for more production. This is gonna piss them off and make the Carter gas shortage look like the good old days. Just saw a analyst on CNN predicting that if this flies, within 2 years gas will be 15 bucks per gallon.
Answer: OPEC isn't producing more because they can't produce any more. Sooner or later, the world is going to catch on to this and start looking for alternatives. The longer they can put that off. The longer they can inflate prices.
Question: Does Cuba represent a biological or bacteriological threat to America? Cuba's bacteriological and biological weapons.- The world and the USA believes Cuba "has at least a limited offensive biological warfare" program and may be transferring its expertise to other countries hostile to the United States. We are concerned that such technology could support biological warfare programs in those states. Cuba might be attempting to develop weapons of mass destruction.
The State Department's top nonproliferation official, called on Cuba to cease transfers of biological weapons technology to "rogue states and to fully comply with all of its obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention." this remarks were prepared for delivery to the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group. For four decades Cuba has maintained a well-developed and sophisticated biomedical industry, supported until 1990 by the Soviet Union. This industry is one of the most advanced in Latin America, and leads in the production of pharmaceuticals and vaccines that are sold worldwide. Analysts and Cuban defectors have long cast suspicion on the activities conducted in these biomedical facilities.
Secret Intelligence sources reported and concluded that Cuba might represent a significant military threat to the United States or the region. Cuba is part of Axis of Evil.
Fidel Castro cooperated with Iraq's Saddam Hussein in an active chemical and biological weapons program. The report originated in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, an online intelligence newsletter published by WorldNetDaily. Some intelligence analysts believe Castro may have unleashed that program on the U.S. in the form of West Nile Virus.
West Nile was first identified in New York City in 1999. By the end of 2002, there were 4,156 laboratory-diagnosed human cases and 284 deaths, the largest arboviral meningo-encephalitis outbreak ever recorded in North America,
To conduct a bacteriological attack, a country or a terrorist group does not need to have any sophisticated means of delivery, such as a missile. A container the size of a five-pound sugar bag can bring bacteriological materials capable of causing over 50,000 casualties in an urban area, depending on the flow.
Communist Cuba is a threat to U.S. National Security.
Department of Defense remains vigilant on southern Florida and Cuba's terrorist cells.
TC wrote: " No, The reason that you hear so much negative propaganda about Cuba is because the wealthy 0.1% of the US population controls 99.9% of our wealth is afraid of communism"
I think is the other way!
If they are so powerful, yhat 0.1% couldn't be afraid of communism! because communism does not exist! and they know it!
They might be afraid of losing drug trade profits that they make, thanks to the simulation of communism in islands used as jump boards for cocaine smugglers in Florida.
Answer: No,
The reason that you hear so much negative propaganda about Cuba is because the wealthy 0.1% of the US population controls 99.9% of our wealth is afraid of communism.
Question: When are people going to figure out that its not the lack of oil causing gas prices to soar Its just greed? The combined profit for the two companies was close to $17 billion—$9.08 billion for Shell and $7.6 billion for BP. These figures include earnings attributed to the rise in oil prices. If this rise is factored out (as is done in the so-called current cost of supplies figures), Shell’s profits were $7.8 billion and BP’s were $6.6 billion. That is, at least $2 billion in profit for the two companies can be attributed solely to the recent rise in oil prices.
Analysts expect the profits for Exxon Mobil, the largest private energy company, to soar to $11.2 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 22 percent over 2007. If the company’s profits exceed expectations, however, it could beat its fourth quarter profits from 2007 of $11.66 billion—the record for a US company.
Of course, the top executives and investors will benefit enormously from these windfalls. Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson received an 18 percent raise in 2007, pulling in $21.7 million. The oil companies will also give back billions to investors in the form of stock buybacks and dividends.
The news from Shell and BP came as a surprise to analysts, who have been concerned about profit troubles in the refinery component of production, which transforms crude oil into useable products like gasoline and diesel. Giants like Shell and BP, and US companies Exxon and Chevron, are vertically integrated, including in their operations both oil extraction and refining.
While the Bush administration cites a lack of refineries for energy shortages, internal oil industry documents show that five years ago companies were looking for ways to cut refinery output to boost profits.
It takes about four years to build a large refinery so any substantial additional new capacity from new plants would have had to begin by the mid-1990s, energy experts acknowledge.
Internal documents from some of America's biggest oil companies suggest higher prices at the pump may, in part, be a result of a deliberate strategy to limit domestic gasoline production,"These documents say point blank, look if you really want to boost your profits, you have to reduce refinery capacity," said Sen. Wyden. "This industry went to great lengths to limit refinery capacity, control markets, restrict supply to boost their profits, increase costs to consumers, and then argue we should relax environmental laws."
One Chevron memo warns the oil industry would never see higher profits, if it didn't reduce the amount of gasoline being refined.
"If the U.S. petroleum industry doesn't reduce its refining capacity, it will never see any substantial increase in refinery margins (profits)," said an internal Chevron document in November 1995.
The memo cited warnings given about refinery profits by a senior analyst from the American Petroleum Institute, the industry trade group, at an industry conference that year.
API spokesman Jim Craig said Thursday, "We don't know about these alleged internal company memos, but the idea that the API would warn member companies on profits is ludicrous."
A year later, an official at Texaco, in a memo marked "highly confidential," called concerns about too much refinery capacty "the most critical factor" facing the refinery industry - resulting in "very poor refining financial results."
The Texaco memo, written in March, 1996, concluded that "significant events" were required to deal with the excess refinery capacity problem and suggested one solution might be to get the government to lift clean air requirements for an oxygenate in gasoline. Removal of the additive would require more gasoline to be used in each gallon of fuel, tightening supplies.
Answer: Yeah yeah, I love the simple economics answer. BS. I figured it out just after katrina. Ever since then, when the wind blew the price went up. Excuses after excuses. It is simply that. Greed.
Question: Does Cuba represent a biological or bacteriological warfare threat to America?
International affairs:

We are concerned that such technology could support biological warfare programs in those states. Cuba might be attempting to develop weapons of mass destruction.

Communist Cuba is a threat to U.S. National Security.

Miami and Cuba are in the watch list.
Answer: Cuba is indeed a threat to America and Mexico, and Canada.
Probably not a threat for Venezuela.
Cuba must be disarmed, democratized and liberated.
Communist ideologies are spreading across Florida, and narco-terrorism is spreading across the hemisphere. Cuba is part of axis of evil.
Question: If recycling paper supposedly saves resources in the production of paper, why do RECYCLED! products cost more? The reprocessing of recycled paper stock in the manufacturing of new paper products which are sold as "Made from Recycled Paper" and "green" requires a great deal of energy (in the collection and recycling industry itself as well as at the factory) and requires large quantities of polluting chemicals. Is the retail price of paper products manufactured using the maximum practical percentages of recycle paper so much higher than "new paper" product prices because more resources are used?
Secondly, do industry analysts expect the price premium we must pay for recycled paper products at retail to continue or will the price difference eventually shrink?
Answer: It depends on the product you are talking about. End use products, such as attic insulation, toilet paper and facial tissues are almost never made with 100% virgin paper. Writing paper, on the other hand, may require extra work to get it to a quality that consumers will accept and this is reflected in the price.

Thanks. BTW, company in Hartford, CT. I looked it up, and found a salary for Management Analyst. I figure it's pretty close, and the range they gave me on PayScale was what I was thinking.
Answer: This is difficult since you don't say where the position is (I assume in CT) and your specific qualifications to meet all these requirements. I would put down a wide range that you can justify during a conversation. Something like $80K to $150K, with the low end being what you really do expect and the high end what you think the position would be worth should you meet all your yearly goals and get a performance bonus. I hope this helps formulate a plan. I wish you all the best and hope it works out well for you. Good luck

Question: Does it matter to Saudi Arabia where they stand on the global oil production list? Follow up question:
Do the OPEC restrictions prevent the KSA from becoming the true leader in oil production?
Headline:
Russian Oil Production Overtakes Saudi Arabia
Link:
http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article13276.html
Story:
Russia is extracting more oil than Saudi Arabia, making it the biggest producer of "black gold" in the world, figures show.
The statistics, from the oil cartel Opec, reflect a trend that has seen the Russians periodically surpass the Saudis as the world's biggest oil producers on and off since 2002.
...
But in recent years Russia has renationalised and modernised much of its industry and that policy now appears to be paying off.
Even Russian analysts concede that Moscow's cause is helped by the fact that Saudi Arabia is subject to Opec output restrictions.
Answer: well Russia is pumping hard and heavy because they need the money to fix what the last 20 years of post communism liberalism has caused. All infrastructures, including the oil industry where in shambles ever since and only in the past few years have they started actively reinvesting in the oil and gas industry.
the quotas and common policy to oil producers is the only reason why Russia is not entering the OPEC. they want to act as a free agent in the market. whether Saudi is the first world producer or the 43rd, doesn't matter. What matters is that we make the best out of it and preserve our interests.

Question: Is ABC's new fictitious Docu Drama timed to halt democrat positive momentum in the upcoming November elections Comments by non-biased analyst on various cable news stations have suggested that this docu drama is top heavy with conservative stratergist to undermind the democratic push for victory in the november elections. How can such a controversial subject as the 911 attack be poltiicized with false non substantuated propaganda be allowed to air? This is a clear intention by the Conservative biased media to create a negitive democratic atmosphere prior to a very important and possibly pivotal election. Should ABC's responsibility to being truthfull to the American Public be held to the fire? Will ABC be subject to slanderous lawsuits, or a possible court order to stop the airing of this ficticious anti democrat production. With the November elections becoming a benchmark for a possible turn around in U.S. Policies both Global and domestic, a lot may ride on the public's ability to seperate fact from propagandized fiction.
Answer: ABC helping conservatives? Are you kidding?
ABC wants ratings, and if sawing against the political grain of their audience causes the most buzz, they're going to go for it.
So far I have not seen the "offensive" content, but I doubt it will be as bad as people fear. As far as taking blame for 9/11, there's some to go around for everyone in the Federal Government from BOTH administrations.
If the Dems want momentum, they're going to have to generate it themselves with something new, something positive, something that looks like leadership. A TV show isn't going to affect anything
Question: How do you get past the RECENT EXPERIENCE requirement when looking for jobs? I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science, I am a PMP Certified Project Manager and 15 years of Information Technology Experience. My last position was as a Lead Technical Analyst - I managed the entire production computing environment and many large scale projects. But I've been disabled and I haven't worked professionally in nearly 6 years. Everyone has this requirement for recent experience and obviously I don't have any.
I'm about to the point where I think I've done all I can do to apply for work, and I'm thinking of other possibilities. It has been a fruitless use of my time so far. I dont' know. I've tried hard.
Answer: You got a very good resume. Whatever is your last professional experience will be considered your "recent" experience. Just declare it. During the interview session, you can elaborate on what happened to you in the recent past 6yrs. I am sure you have a bit of personal programming works for yourself and others, like friends and relatives, during these past years. Dont let items, such as this, intimidate or prevent you from applying for jobs. Do not second guess what the prospective employer will do. Just keep on sending those resumes. Good luck.
Question: Career Change: Accountant or Paralegal? Hello,
I am 35 years old and I would like to start a new career. I have a rather varied and experienced past job profile; model, bartender, administrative assistant, photography assistant, film production manager, and currently, a media analyst for top pharmaceutical companies.
I need a relatively stable and well-paying career, and I am willing to go back to school to "land the job".
I already have a BA in Anthropology.
I see that to become a paralegal I should obtain a certificate through an ABA-approved program, but to become an accountant...I can either get a 2nd Bachelor's or try for a Master's in Accounting. Also, what types of jobs and salaries are out there for a non-CPA accountant with a degree in Accounting?
Which job would you choose? I do understand that ultimately this should and will be my choice, but since both of these industries are brand new to me, I would like some objective opinions from people who know.
Becoming a paralegal seems to be a quicker process, but on multiple forums I have heard of the horrors of stress in this field.
I should also note that I think that I would enjoy either of these jobs equally.
How would you compare job stability, job growth/openings, job stress, and salary for these two career paths?
Thank you.
Also, a Paralegal Certificate can be acquired in less than a year and rather inexpensively, whereas it seems that one needs a Master's to become an Accountant, which equals more money and more time. Which education + career path has more bang for its buck :)?
Answer: As for the accounting route you have to ask yourself do you and numbers get along. Many times accountants have to add up and add up again balances and reconcile. For example, a cash account, if the books say there is $56,304.30 but the audit says there is only $45,493.49 then you will have to figure out which balance is correct, maybe neither. During audit season from say February to April you can expect 10-12 days and often weekends. The good thing is you get paid for these hours. CPA's have learned the art of joke telling and some drink heavily to relieve stress. One boss would go to the gym during lunch break for stress. Being a CPA is a fairly prestigious credential. Bosses like to threaten to fire someone if they can't reconcile all of the accounts by Sunday noon for example. Once minted with the CPA license and as head of an accounting dept you will do the slave driving and have a much easier time and earning the big bucks. I think this and my other answer are your best responses. :)

Question: Which job should I choose? I have just graduated from carnegie mellon with honors in Business Administration with track in general management and minor in English studies. Which of the following jobs do you think is better?
Production and Revenue Accountant (In finance department) OR
Planning Analyst (In Business Support Department)
Both jobs are in two different oil and gas companies
Answer: Planning Analyst.
Accounting positions are somewhat dead end. You can only go so far and your income will reach a wall. However, as a planning analyst you will receive well rounded training and will have a large number of options to choose from in the future, from operations to sales.
Question: Midlife career change due to an accident... what would you do? 5 months ago I sustained nerve damage to my lower back in a work related accident and I have one more evaluation by a surgeon and then on to vocational rehab... up to this point in my life (I'm 46 years old) I have been blessed with both the physical and mental ability to do just about anything I wanted to do: Data analyst, meteorologist, truck driver, firefighter, salesman, aircraft production control manager, cab driver, etc. I've found that the jobs I've enjoyed the most were the ones that allowed for a great deal of independant work without a lot of direction or interference from supervisors or peers. I'm outgoing socially but when it comes to work I'm better off left to myself... not a very good supervisor either for the same reason. So, my physical condition limits my ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods (I can alternate between the two positions just can't pick one and stay there). What would you suggest as possible career for someone with my limitations?
Answer: I'm going through the same thing right now. For the last 20 years I've made my living as a graphic designer. I was recently diagnosed with myoclonis and the medication prevents me from working the way I used to. So I thought hard about what to do next. I thought, my whole life I had a career that I enjoyed and it doesn't have to stop now. I thought of other passions in my life and the first thing that came to me was dogs. And now I am in school (home school) working to get a degree in dog training. I'm really excited about starting a new career.
So my advice is think of all the things you really love in life and figure out which ones who can utilize as a career.
Question: If Bush is an oil greedy president then why is he trying to cut oil consumption by 75% in the U.S. by 2025? I'm not for Bush, but with all that oil money he makes he is paying into alternative fuels. No one seems to understand this.
Then there is going to be a cut in oil production in the Middle East starting next month (I think it's next month)... Iraq being one of the states cutting oil production.
Bush called for ethanol to be made a commercially viable fuel for vehicles within six years. US production of the chemical compound nearly doubled between 1997 and 2004 to reach 3.4 bn gallons (12.9 bn litres). But compared to the 140 bn gallons of gasoline (petrol) used each year by Americans, ethanol represents barely 2.5 % of auto fuel.
"Well I guess if Brazil can do it with ethanol, why can't we?" Alaron Trading energy analyst Phil Flynn wrote in a sarcastic appraisal of Bush's proposals. "The president says he will also fund research in cutting-edge methods of making ethanol, not just from corn but from wood chips or switch grass. He left out cattle manure."
I would like to add that it is taking till 2025 because you have to realize that converting to alternative fuels will not be easy. There are still people out there driving cars from the 70's and 80's because they cannot afford new cars.
M W... Bush invests in oil like any other smart rich human does.
HAHAHA because of corn? Corn is hardly an essential investment in the human body... It doesnt even digest correctly. Screw corn.
Answer: what money is George W Bush making on oil?
back it up with FACTS
The US consumes 20 million 40 gallon barrels of oil each day. approximately half gets converted to fuel. Includes aircraft fuel, automotive, heating. that conversion has a 60% yield. leaving the equivalent of 10 million barrels of oil + 40% of 10 million barrels that were processed for fuel being used for other things... (you can check these numbers with google) Call it 14 million barrels of oil per day used for non fuel if you want.
Know where those 14 million barrels each and every day go? ziplock baggies, plastic in your car, dvd's, cd.s fake leather. plastic water bottles, plastic cups, poker chips. etc. With few exceptions, plastics and oils are petroleum based. Next time you shop, look for plastics on the items you buy.
The US usage of petroleum has been stable for more than a decade. Usage in developing countries is skyrocketing which drives up the price of oil. And it increases the consumption rate of a limited supply of oil. which will in a very short while make oil scarce and very valuable.
So why are you complaining when the President of this country supports using non petroleum based products for fuel?
He must. The alternative is this. our lives. our everyday lives. depend heavily on oil. If we do nothing, the demand for oil will continue to increase, the supply will continue to decrease, and guess what happens to the price?
My prediction is there will be true oil wars in the future if nothing is done. Why let's say you want to go buy groceries for your kids. But there's no gas to drive your car there. No oil in the engine anyway. So You walk. But, there's no milk because there is a shortage of 1 gallon plastic milk bottles. And for that matter, there's no ketchup, no cheese, no water, no bread (it's wrapped in plastic isn't it?) no frozen chicken. Nothing. Not even potatoes. They're sold in plastic bags right? So you leave. Walk past blockbuster. They are closed no plastic to make dvds no VHS tapes even. etc.
Get the picture? I support Bush's efforts for alternative fuels. So should you.
***UPDATE***
hey noname. glad you read my speech. I see you've changed it to "Bush invests in oil" Before you said ""with all that oil money he makes" Again, you have any facts to back that up? Or is it just a guess? That he makes money from oil. That he now invests in oil.
Exactly how much money did George W Bush make from oil last year? And give your source please....

Do i have to take an undergrad course first? Do you know which course would be the best introductory course?
Answer: You have way too much stuff here! And a Masters in ICT is not going to work without an undergraduate foundation.
You need to sit down and think about what kind of job you want and what your skill set is.
Firstly, are you artistic or logical. That is the first big divide. The creative/graphics design work can only be done by people with artistic flair. Does not mean you can't teach yourself to use Photoshop, just that you cannot create visuals for a living unless you have an eye for this stuff.
If you are logical, are you hardware or software orientated? Do you enjoy taking things apart and repairing them or do you like mathematical puzzles.
Once you have done this exercise, your field will be narrower. You can do another undergraduate degree, teach yourself from the internet, take some vocational courses or take a look at the Open University offerings.

Question: can SOME1 EXPLAIN THIS PLEASE?? =]PLS EXPLAIN LONG BUT UNDERSTANDABLE AND EXPLAINABLE.? Oil touches $103 a barrel:
Oil prices briefly surpassed $103 a barrel for the first time Friday as persistent weakness in the U.S. dollar and the prospect of lower interest rates attracted fresh money to the oil market.
Light, sweet crude for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange jumped to a new trading record of $103.05 a barrel in electronic trading before slipping back to $102.02 a barrel, down 57 cents, by midday in Europe.
On Thursday, the contract jumped $2.95 to a record settlement price of $102.59 a barrel.
Prices were supported by comments Thursday from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who said the American economy is not immediately threatened with stagflation, a combination of economic weakness and rising inflation.
Investors chose to see the comments as confirmation of their beliefs that the Fed will continue cutting interest rates to try to shore up the economy.
"It seems that further interest rate cuts, additional dollar weakness and more investment buying will anchor oil to higher prices," energy risk management firm Cameron Hanover said in its daily report. "It can't go on forever, but it looks like it can go on for a while."
Lower U.S. interest rates tends to weaken the dollar, and crude futures offer a hedge against a falling dollar.
"Due to the weakening dollar and the rising fear of inflation, investors have put money into commodities, oil included," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst with Purvin & Gertz in Singapore.
"Commodities, as tangible assets, do not face as much inflationary threat as opposed to holding a currency," Shum said. "Even though the value of money is changing, the asset continues to have an intrinsic value."
In London, Brent crude futures fell 28 cents to $100.62 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.
Shum warned that a price bubble was emerging in the crude futures market as investors ignored market fundamentals that have shown continuous increases in U.S. crude supply while several recent forecasters have lowered oil demand growth predictions for this year due to the slowing economy.
"We've seen seven straight weeks of builds in crude oil inventories. The oil market fundamentals are softening and yet we see record highs being set, day in and day out," Shum said.
Shum warned of the possibility of a sharp correction at some point, though unlikely in the near term.
"Right now, there's a lot of trading based on emotion -- emotions are high and that could keep crude oil at elevated levels, but the market faces the risk of a price collapse."
The Japanese government on Friday urged the oil cartel OPEC to increase output to help ease record prices.
"The high crude prices are gradually damaging the global economy. This will damage the economies of oil-producing countries," Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akira Amari said.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries holds its next policy meeting on March 5. It is likely to decide to keep current production levels unchanged, or even cut production, according to reported comments by OPEC President Chakib Khelil.
Khelil noted that oil inventories were growing, and that the recent rally in oil prices has been driven by the U.S. dollar's weakness and speculative trades amid geopolitical risks.
"Several OPEC ministers are just itching for a reason, any reason, to cut output. A number of OPEC countries have become as addicted to high prices as the West has become to their oil," Cameron Hanover's report said.
"The ministers may not be able to find any reason to cut production now, especially if oil prices keep rising. If they cannot, they will plan another meeting in five weeks and will cut output at the first hurdle."
Crude prices are within the range of inflation-adjusted highs set in early 1980. A $38 barrel of oil then would be worth $97 to almost $104 today, depending on the how the adjustment is calculated. A direct comparison with daily Nymex prices is difficult because historical data, gathered before the crude futures contract was created in 1983, are based on average monthly prices posted by oil producers.
In other Nymex trading, heating oil retreated 1.06 cents to $2.8350 a gallon while gasoline futures fell 2.02 cents to $2.4755 a gallon. Natural gas futures were down 1.3 cents to $9.430 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Answer: All about greed from world energy corporate and dictatorship leaders as well as hedge funds and major investors bouncing the market between strike prices to win the option lotteries over and over and over again! Jesus called these people, the money changers, only now they do it world wide!
One hopes these money changers have civilization in mind. If they don't, then we will someday need a democratized connected humanity to stop the senseless monetary oppression, if we get by the resource problems of the world.
Question: Hi Friends I need your valuable time to give me suggestion about my career.? I am in a fix about my Career, your few mints can change my Life.
I am 35 years old, working in an Export House for last 14 years, I joined here as Computer Accountant, but after 9 years accounts were shifted to Head Office so I was assigned to see the Garments Productions as a merchandiser in Delhi, but the company is going on very low production, I have hardly handel 3 or 4 productions in a year.
I am not an Accountant (As I dont like this field though i worked 9 years in this field)
I am not a Merchandiser (As I have not much experience)
I want to switch my career to IT Field, I want to be System Administrator or System Analyst and want to earn handsome salary package.
But after completion of my course I would be considered as a Fresher in IT Industry, so i will get 8 to 10K Salary.Which is very low for a person of my Age.
Is there any field in IT Industry where a Fresher can get 15-20K per month at starting level.
Is it ok to switch career at the age of 35?
Answer: Is there any field in IT industry where a Fresher can get $15-20K per month starting? Maybe, it depends on how valuable your skills are perceived by a potential employer, who you know, and how you present yourself. Your future employers want to be able to easily answer three questions:
1. Can this person do the job I am hiring them for?
2. Will they do it and make enough money for the company so I can pay them $15-20K per month and make a profit for the company too?
3. Do I like this person?
If the answer is yes to these 3 questions, then yes a fresher can make that kind of money.
Yes, it is OK to switch careers at any age, provided you have a plan on how to successfully do it.
Question: Is this Rhetoric or another step backwards? MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Tuesday it would use military means if the United States deployed a missile defence shield close to its borders, a threat analysts said was aimed at stoking European opposition to the shield.
Russia's Foreign Ministry said Moscow would be forced to use "military-technical methods" if a U.S. deal on building part of the shield in the Czech Republic was ratified by parliament.
"If the real deployment of an American strategic missile defence shield begins close to our borders, then we will be forced to react not with diplomatic methods, but with military-technical methods," the Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its www.mid.ru website that the U.S. missile shield would undermine global security and Moscow's strategic deterrent. It said Moscow's proposals to Washington on the shield had been ignored.
Military analyst Pavel Felgenhauer said Moscow was using typical Cold War rhetoric to discourage the Czech parliament from ratifying the shield agreement, signed by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the Czech foreign minister.
"That is why it is very unspecific but sounds threatening," he said. "It is psychological pressure, the same sort that was used in the 1980s by the Soviet Union, when the United States deployed cruise missiles in Europe, in an attempt to boost the anti-missile, anti-U.S. protests."
Russia's United Nations Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said the Foreign Ministry statement did not mean military action but a change of "strategic posture".
"If you are talking about military action, this of course is not the case," Churkin said in New York.
Former President Vladimir Putin, who is now prime minister, said in 2007 that Russia could aim missiles at European countries if the U.S. missile shield, which Moscow considers a threat to national security, goes ahead.
Russian generals have threatened to deploy tactical missiles in neighbouring Belarus and to resume production of short and medium-range nuclear missiles in response to Washington's missile defence plans.

Answer: definately rhetoric.........
Question: If proposition 19 is passed in California. Will the USA & Then UK & Europe follow in legalising Cannabis? Proposition 19 is the proposal to legalise cannabis for recreational use in California.
Changes California Law to Legalize Marijuana and Allow It to Be Regulated and Taxed. Initiative Statute.
Allows people 21 years old or older to possess, cultivate, or transport marijuana for personal use. Permits local governments to regulate and tax commercial production and sale of marijuana to people 21 years old or older. Prohibits people from possessing marijuana on school grounds, using it in public, smoking it while minors are present, or providing it to anyone under 21 years old. Maintains current prohibitions against driving while impaired. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local governments: Savings of up to several tens of millions of dollars annually to state and local governments on the costs of incarcerating and supervising certain marijuana offenders. Unknown but potentially major tax, fee, and benefit assessment revenues to state and local government related to the production and sale of marijuana products.
The vote take place in November.
Answer: Washington state has a similar ballot initiative that has been proposed. If enough signatures are obtained on the necessary petition, it will be voted on in November's election.
It's difficult to say whether either will pass. While the attitudes about marijuana are changing, there are still people who absolutely will not vote for legalization. California, especially, is always a surprise. People seem to think that it's an uber-liberal bastion, when in reality, there are as many pockets of conservatives as liberals (look at what happened with Proposition 8).
I would like to think that marijuana would be completely legalized in my lifetime, but I am not optimistic about it. Needless to say, if Prop. 19 passes, I will be pleasantly surprised. And, even if it does pass, it will still be illegal on the federal level and there would be nothing to stop an influx of feds from entering the state and busting people. It happens now, although to a minor degree, with medical marijuana patients.
Marijuana (along with other drugs) has already been decriminalized in Portugal with a great measure of success

Whether other countries follow suit, only time will tell.
Question: economics question - help? This graph shows a hypothetical production function for a beach clean-up project. The X-axis represents the number of workers hired on a given day, and the Y-axis represents pounds of garbage removed from the beach. Workers specialize in various tasks: Some put the garbage into garbage bags; some tie knots on the garbage bags and put them into dumpsters; and some bring snacks and drinks.
Use the link below to answer the following questions.
http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu295/divisions85/82.jpg
1) If you are an economic analyst for the company hiring the workers to pick up garbage on the beach, what, if anything, can you conclude about the company's marginal product of labor curve?
A. The marginal product of labor curve is horizontal.
B. The marginal product of labor curve is downward sloping.
C. There is not enough information to make any conclusions.
D. The marginal product of labor curve is upward sloping
2) Which of the following statements best describes the shape of the total cost curve corresponding to the hypothetical production function for the beach clean-up project?
A. The total cost curve is upward sloping, with alternating slopes.
B. The total cost curve is upward sloping, with constant slope.
C. The total cost curve is upward sloping, with increasing slope as output increases.
D. The total cost curve is upward sloping, with decreasing slope as output increases.
Answer: 1. B. The marginal product of labor curve is downward sloping.
When each additional worker is added they are providing less and less output per worker due to the law of diminishing returns.
2. B. The total cost curve is upward sloping, with constant slope.
Assuming labor is your only variable and the wage is the same then each additional worker will increase costs at a steady rate.
Question: Why is my boss bothering me about my time? I am an analyst for a large company, and I have been working in my current Division for 1 1/2 years. My boss has told me more than once that he doesn't care when I come in, when I take lunch, when I leave, etc. He only expects that I do good work and get my work done on time. I have kept my side of the bargain. I produce excellent work, get it done on time, and conduct myself very professionally. I'm very good to him as an employee and show him respect. Since I've started 1 1/2 years ago, I often walk in around 9:30, I take over an hour lunch, and sometimes I leave early. This has been my way for the last 9 years of employment, and because I am so reliable and do excellent work, all my bosses have always left me alone.
Well, all of a sudden today, my boss calls me into his office and shuts the door. He asked me what time I came in, how long did I take lunch, and what time I plan on leaving. I was thinking to myself, "Uh oh. Did I forget to turn something in? Was someone looking for me?" But no...Everything was as usual. But, for some reason he was reaming me because of my time. He said that from now on he wants me to keep to my scheduled times.
Anyway, I'm confused. What the hell happened? I know that most people probably can't relate to me, especially those in retail, production environments, etc., but I'd really like to hear from professionals who are given autonomy. Has it ever been taken away? Why? What should I do? Should I confront him about it or just leave it alone? I think I'll wait and see if he brings it up again and then discuss it with him. I don't want to work in an environment where my boss is always looking at the clock and keeping track of my schedule.
Answer: Corporate life is one of the most whimsical thing on this planet. You may assume that you are delivering well so the time should not matter (and it does not matter in fact). But there are other factors as well. First could be that your boss may be living by the clock. and these kind of people may expects other to follow the same. Next it could be that people may expect you to be available to them in their time in case you interact with sales, support and other teams. Or the worst could be that you boss may just want to screw you up.
Now about what should be done and should not be done:
make sure that you follow the office timing.
he could be trying to provoke you. don't commit such forced error and don't confront. In corporate life, what you do is mostly not important but what your boss thinks about it is. So if you want to have a peaceful life in the same office, follow the protocol. Else if you believe in whatever you do, take the bull by horn.
Question: Finance question, need real help please? TO: The Assistant Financial Analyst
FROM: Mr. V. Morrison, CEO, Caledonia Products
RE: Cash Flow Analysis and Capital Rationing
We are considering the introduction of a new product. Currently we are in the 34 percent marginal tax bracket with a 15 percent required rate of return or cost of capital. This project is
expected to last five years and then, because this is somewhat of a fad project, to be terminated.
The following information describes the new project:
Cost of new plant and equipment: $7,900,000
Shipping and installation costs: $ 100,000
Unit sales: Year Units Sold
1 70,000
2 120,000
3 140,000
4 80,000
5 60,000
Sales price per unit: $300/unit in years 1–4, $260/unit in year 5
Variable cost per unit: $180/unit
Annual fixed costs: $200,000
Working-capital requirements: There will be an initial working-capital requirement of $100,000 just to get production started. For each year, the total investment in net working capital will be equal to 10 percent of the dollar value of sales for that year. Thus, the investment in working capital will increase during years 1 through 3, then decrease in year 4. Finally, all working capital is liquidated at the termination of the project at the end of year 5.
The depreciation method: Use the simplified straight-line method over five years. It is assumed that the plant and equipment will have no salvage value after five years.
12. Caledonia is considering two additional mutually exclusive projects. The cash flows associated with these projects are as follows:
YEAR PROJECT A PROJECT B
0 −$100,000 −$100,000
1 32,000 0
2 32,000 0
3 32,000 0
4 32,000 0
5 32,000 $200,000
The required rate of return on these projects is 11 percent.
a. What is each project’s payback period?
b. What is each project’s net present value?
c. What is each project’s internal rate of return?
d. What has caused the ranking conflict?
e. Which project should be accepted? Why?
The factors Caledonia must consider if they were doing a lease versus buy.
Answer: So you want someone else to do your homework for you? Well your problem is too complex and you simply have to buckle down, hit the books and then do it yourself. And if that does not work, then you can always join the 7th Day Adventist Church, for which you already have a link in another answer.
Question: can someone EXPLAIN this PLEASE? explain this long but explainable and understandable!! =]
Economy gauge still shows weakness:
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A revised reading on gross domestic product announced Thursday showed no change in the anemic U.S. economic growth previously reported for the fourth quarter.
GDP, the broadest measure of the nation's economic activity, stood at an annual rate of 0.6% in the fourth quarter, adjusted for inflation, the Commerce Department said.
The results matched the initial estimate released in late January, still far below the final reading of 4.9% growth in the third quarter.
Economists surveyed on Briefing.com expected the revised reading to show the economy grew at an annual rate of 0.8% in the fourth quarter.
But there were some positive numbers to take out of the revised report.
Changes in non-farm inventories shaved nearly 1.4 percentage points off overall growth, up from 1.2 percentage points in the previous report.
"The economy is stronger than the headline numbers suggest," said Wachovia Analyst Mark Vitner, who noted that the revised inventory numbers suggest the real GDP growth rate was 2%, up from a previously reported 1.8%.
Some economists have suggested that the increase in inventory liquidations represents a sign that businesses will pick up production in the first quarter in order to replenish those inventories.
"This will make it easier for the first quarter to have some positive growth," said Vitner, who expects to see GDP grow at an annual rate of 0.2% in the first quarter.
"It looks like the economy will narrowly avoid a recession, but it will still grow at a frustratingly slow pace," he added.
The government report also showed mixed news for inflation in the previous quarter.
The GDP price index, the so-called "price deflator," which measures prices overall, rose at a revised 2.7% annual rate, up from a previously-reported 2.6%.
But the core PCE deflator - a more closely watched inflation reading that measures prices that individuals pay excluding volatile food and energy prices - rose 2.5%, lower than the 2.7% that was reported in the first GDP report.
That's important because the rise is still above the perceived comfort zone of central bankers. The Federal Reserve is generally believed to want to see the 12-month change in core inflation readings remain between 1% and 2%.
The Fed has cut its key interest rate several times since September, lowering the rate to 3% from 5.25%, and some economists have suggested that continued weak economic indicators support the need for further rate cuts to boost the economy and stave off a recession.
But rising price pressures could tie the hands of central bankers, who not only seek to maintain economic growth, but aim to keep inflation in check as well.
Answer: I'm only can EXPLAIN why nobody answer !!!!!!

Question: Is This A Game For U Or Your Children? "Dexter" brings killing spree to videogame
SAN DIEGO (Hollywood Reporter) - Showtime is turning its serial-killer drama "Dexter" into a videogame.
The premium cable network has signed a production deal with the gaming division of the Marc Ecko hip-hop fashion house to design a game for multiple platforms, including the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.
It will be aimed at avid gamers, many of whom have become fans of the Emmy-winning series. Michael C. Hall stars as an emotionally detached forensics analyst who dispatches deserving villains in his spare time. Reruns are now airing on CBS.
Marc Ecko Entertainment is in talks with a number of developers about the "Dexter" game, but stressed that it will work closely with Showtime to ensure it is faithful to the series. Ecko has been moving aggressively into video games, producing the 2005 title "Getting Up" and working on an untitled project with developer Human Head.

Question: Am I the only one that notices this? not only do we have to bail out the fat cats on wall street but isnt 3 bucks for a gallon of gas still alot of money to people? I remeber when gas was 80 cents a gallon....and when we all complain when it got to $1.20. Why would the government make it harder than it already is on the american peeps? I read this again today SINGAPORE – Oil prices rose to above $75 a barrel Tuesday in Asia as investors expected OPEC to try to halt a three-month slide in prices by cutting production quotas at least 1 million barrels a day.
Light, sweet crude for November delivery rose 90 cents to $75.15 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Singapore. The contract gained overnight $2.40 to settle at $74.25.
Prices closed as low as $69.85 a barrel last week, down 53 percent from a record $147.27 on July 11.
"It definitely looks like a cut is in the cards," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst at consultancy Purvin & Gertz in Singapore. "A cut of at least 1 million has been priced in. A cut much larger than 1 million could move prices higher."
Answer: That is how we work. We are happy when gas goes down ten cents but do not realize its still much higher than it was a year ago. I think relief is a good thing but with the cost of everything going up and incomes going down this becomes a mute point. Gas it still expensive for the times and it is a huge sore spot we really need to address if we want to get anywhere near freedom in our energy sectors.
Question: Has California driven the Toyota plant to Canada by its excessive taxation used to support “entitlements”? for illegal aliens
New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. in Fremont, California, will end production of Corolla cars and Tacoma pickups in March 2010, Toyota said in a statement. GM in June said it would end assembly of Pontiac Vibes at the plant, known as Nummi, and quit the venture as part of its bankruptcy reorganization.
Nummi has the capacity to make 420,000 cars and pickups each year. It only made money in 1992, the result of California’s taxes and labor and pollution rules, as well as the plant’s UAW contracts, according to an estimate by Credit Suisse Group AG analyst.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601101&sid=aJlxuxndoOsM
Answer: California. I remember when it was a good state, before the teachers and other unions (UAW) really screwed it up. Then there are all the illegal aliens on the dole. What a mess.
Question: How does this article of Kazakhstan signify the importance of Human Geography? The news came just weeks before LSE-listed KazakhGold was supposed to finalize a reverse takeover of its Russian parent company Polyus Gold in mid-August that would have created a $10.8bn group, the largest pure gold miner on the London bourse.
The back-story to the move is seen as dissatisfaction with the price at which Polyus Gold acquired its stake, following the Kazakh government's decision to waive its pre-emptive right to buy up shares. In December 2008, Polyus Gold originally valued a 50.1% stake in KazakhGold at $746m, but by the time the terms were finally agreed in August 2009 the global economic crisis had taken its toll on the value of the transaction to the extent the stake was pitched at just $269m.
In a statement, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (Mint) retracted its approval of a share transfer in 2009 and ruled out the sale of additional shares that would have facilitated the reverse takeover whereby KazakhGold with a market cap of around $300m would have taken over Polyus Gold, which is valued at least 30 times higher. "Due to newly discovered information regarding violations of the law on mineral resources during the purchase of the stake in KazakhGold by the Russian company Polyus Gold, the competent authority has cancelled the previously taken decisions to allow the sale of KazakhGold shares," the ministry said.
The Kazakh government's Agency for Competition later announced that it would also revoke its approval of Polyus Gold's acquisition of the majority stake in KazakhGold.
Commenting on the government's moves, Mikhail Stiskin, metals and mining analyst at Russian investment bank Troika Dialog, notes that the details regarding Polyus Gold and KazakhGold are becoming increasingly contradictory and perplexing. "The relationship between the Russian company and the Kazakh authorities appears to have been damaged, possibly by the legal suit brought by Polyus Gold against the Assaubayev family, former KazakhGold shareholders. The escalating conflict could, regrettably, have a detrimental effect on the franchises of both companies," says Stiskin.
Polyus Gold, owned by billionaires Mikhail Prokhorov and Suleiman Kerimov, launched a $450m court action in June against Gold Lion Holdings, KazakhGold's former controlling shareholder controlled by the Assaubayev family, who have strongly refuted allegations that the former management misappropriated funds or misstated results.
Although the government action has the potential to derail the merger, Evgeny Ivanov, KazakhGold's chief executive officer and general director of Polyus Gold, initially applauded news of the fraud probe: "We welcome the readiness of the relevant Kazakhstan authorities and ministries to investigate the activities of former management. We believe that prompt resolution of these matters… will enhance Kazakhstan's status as an attractive country for foreign investment."
Despite the short-term uncertainties, Ivanov remains confident that the planned merger will eventually secure the necessary regulatory approval and that the merged company, which will be renamed Polyus Gold International and be incorporated in the UK, will join the FTSE 100 index of leading companies on the London bourse once all listing requirements have been met. Ivanov says that securing a London listing will help Polyus attract a wider following of investors than is possible through its global depositary receipts issuance and should also ease its task of raising around $1bn to fund further production growth. Amid speculation that some of KazakhGold's operating licenses might be revoked in the wake of the fraud probe, Ivanov insists that Polyus Gold would vigorously defend is interests in court.
Reasserting control
In recent years, the Kazakh authorities have proved increasingly keen to assert their economic interests over the country's vast natural resource wealth so as to boost revenues to support government spending. From August onwards, for example, the country will tax oil exports at $20 per tonne, according to state-run newspaper Kazakhstanskaya Pravda. Kazakhstan hopes to raise KZT60bn tenge ($410m) from the export levy this year and roughly KZT177bn in 2011. The extra tax revenue will help to mitigate the country's growing budget deficit, which the government expects to hit KZT803.7bn, or 4.6% of GDP this year, up from KZT492.7bn in 2009. For their part, oil and gas producers operating in Kazakhstan have insisted their contracts' stability clauses exempt them from tax changes, including the introduction of any new export levy.
As well as increasing the tax burden on oil producers, the Kazakh government has also sought to increase its direct interest in major natural resource projects, such as when it took a stake in 2008 in Kashagan, the world's fifth-largest oilfield, citing cost overruns and production delays.

Question: How bad is the economy going to get? You can see signs already that the road to recovery is very long and skewed. So when do you predict our economy will bounce back from this slump, and prosper like its earlier days before the Bush government.
Having said that which of the nominees do you best picture to regain America's foot hold on domestic sales-production.
This is because some analysts say that our economy might be down due to American's buying foreign made products, as opposed to home made products.
You seriously need to get help, please just don't answer my questions again.
Just arguing with you is making me stupid.
Answer: I don't think ouer next president (8) years are going to do it alone. I'll say the US will be back to it's normal dominant days in 2050 atleast.Just don't elect anybody with the last name bush anymore.
"Just today, Fox News reported that we've hit the bottom of the economic slump and are slowly beginning our rise again"
I am so glad to hear this I was getting really worried we were going to have another great depression.
Jiggaboo jones you are one sad troll.
Question: Are analysts and polls ever right? Market analysts said the Dow would reach 14,000 in 1998 (didn't happen till 2007), Overseas analysts said that gas would reach $3.00 a gallon in 2004 because of the war in Iraq (gas went to $2.50 in 2005 because of Katrina and just recently went to $3.00 because of OPEC production dicisions), Hillary was supposed to win Ohio and Obama was supposed to win New Hampshire (opposite and McCain was NOT predicted to win either). Why do these people still have jobs? They are nothing more than alarmists who based their decisions on the nightly news.
sorry spell check didn't catch Decision
Answer: A well-designed poll can be fairly accurate, but most polls are deliberately flawed so as to provide the data that the sponsor wants to see. Analysts are should stick to analysis, i.e. they should look at what happenED (past tense) and hypothesize as to why it happened that way. When they prognosticate, they are just guessing and their opinion is just as good as anyone else's. In other words, like the majority of the media, they are worthless bags of wind that do nothing but take up planetary resources and receive fat checks for doing nothing...
Question: Is A New Hydrogen Bomb as Planned by the Bush administration justified? Is this necessary? March 8, 2007
AP: New US Bomb Could Jumpstart Nuclear Arms Race
A U.S. plan to develop a new hydrogen bomb could spark production of new nuclear weapons by other countries, including several foes of the Bush administration, warn some of the nation's leading arms control and disarmament advocacy groups.
Last Friday, the Department of Energy announced it was seeking to develop a new hydrogen bomb that would replace the existing W76 warhead now deployed on submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
Many analysts say the Bush administration's plan would undermine international efforts to control the spread of nuclear arms and would provide justification to those countries currently suspected of trying to build such weapons.
"The administration claims [it] is necessary in order to maintain long-term confidence in the future stockpile," says John Isaacs, "but the fact is that the U.S. stockpile has been confirmed 'safe and reliable' for at least another half century."
Despite the end of the Cold War in 1991, the United States continues to possess thousands of nuclear weapons. In addition to the United States, other major powers that have built huge nuclear arsenals include Russia, Britain, France, and China.
Currently the five countries combined have more than 36,000 nuclear warheads in their possession, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), a Sweden-based think tank.
In addition to the declared nuclear powers, India, Pakistan, and Israel are also believed to be in possession of hundreds of nuclear weapons and at this point, unlike Iran, which has joined international agreements against the spread of nuclear weapons, none of them seems willing to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Answer: Not only is it NOT justified and NOT necessary, it also puts us in violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty:
Article VI and the preamble indicate that the NWS parties pursue plans to reduce and liquidate their stockpiles; Article VI also calls for "...a Treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control."
In other words, we are not complying with the disarmament pillar of the NPT so where do we get off pointing the finger at other countries who may or MAY NOT be in violation when we are in clear violation?
The hypocrisy is mind boggling.
Question: No one will do anything about oil prices? "Analysts say refiners have cut back on gasoline production due to low profit margins; the rising price of crude means it costs them more to refine gas."
You gotta be kidding me right? 30 Billion in the first quarter? low profit margi? Who the hell do they think they are kidding here? Congress just had a session with these sack of liars you know why? not to help you and me. not to really investigate them. not to find a true solution to the problem ... only to shut our mouths up. as to say "See we are doing something about it ... we are asking questions" Enought of this Obama slogan crap that leads nowhere ... it is over with talks it is time for ACTION. regulate the damn price of Oil and stop letting specualtor dictate the price of crude oil based on IF's and Maybes. We have to force the Oil Co to build more refineries. We HAVE to regulate the prices in the market. And we HAVE to find alternative sources.
Yes maybe Citgo is the answer but you knwo what i still try to support our own economy. Harry? I knw owhat profit is ... go see the houses with an S all those who are directly involved with oil buying and production live in then talk to me about the minimal number again. Do i do my part? yes i drive a LOT less. Why would i buy an Hybrid? so i can put 10K extra in the pocket of another crook? Car manufacturers? no thank you. here is one reason Oil co mentioned about the reason for short supply ... more people driving because of the nicer weather ... let me tell you ... we spent a LOT more during winter because many heat with oil so that makes no valid sense. Another excuse thats all it is.
AHAHA Bob! I will take you on a Marathon run anytime anyday ... don't tell me to get off my Fat you know what ... because I am sure mine is fit compare to yours. Sadly enough you have just depicted the perfect attitude of the Oil Co. Lazyness and careless. They don't build more because they do not want to. More money better days for them. I am waiting for an European research center to find a real alternative to Oil and prove the US that it can be done then we will see how the Oil Co will face that Wrath from the public. wait and see ... it is coming.
Answer: I agree. There is so much evidence of the gouging and no one will do a damn thing. It is very disturbing to say the least. They have the phony Congressional Hearings with the Oil Execs just to appease certain elements of the public. It is too obvious the Politicians have been bought and paid for by the Oil Companies.
@Harry K(above) - Try not to be too terribly smug with your answers. Why do you think we voted for those Jackasses? To look out for our interests, right? If I am not mistaken we also pay them to make sure we are not being screwed by the likes of big oil.
@Phil(below)When no one is going anywhere to buy anything and the economy is totally busted, the dollar is twice as bad as it is now and your savings is no longer worth a damn, get back with us with your witless answers.
Question: Since a *Huge* Cyclone is heading right twoards the Persian Gulf? Are you worried? maybe no Oil for awhile?
Thousands flee as cyclone closes on Persian Gulf
Cyclone Gonu was expected to skirt the region's biggest oil installations but could disrupt shipping through the Straits of Hormuz, causing a spike in prices, oil analysts said.
Oil prices rose on Monday but retreated Tuesday, though the storm weighed heavily on the market.
"If the storm hits Iran, it's a much bigger story than Oman, given how much bigger an oil producer Iran is," said Antoine Haff of FIMAT USA, a brokerage unit of Societe Generale.
"At a minimum, it's likely to affect tanker traffic and to shut down some Omani oil production as a precautionary measure," Haff said.

Question: Before we bail out the automakers shouldn't the U.S. Congress mandate a G.E.M. Flex green vehicle strategy? ? In the Chicago Tribune (Obama's Home Town Paper?) we read:
Food vs. fuel a global myth
By Robert Zubrin and Gal Luft
May 6, 2008
In recent weeks, a flood of reports and statements has claimed that the world's biofuel programs—in particular the U.S. corn ethanol effort—is starving poor people around the globe. Even the UN's special rapporteur for the Right to Food decried biofuel production as "a crime against humanity."
It seems so obvious: With so much corn being turned into fuel, food shortages must inevitably result, and biofuel programs must be the cause.
However, that's completely untrue. Here are the facts.
In the last five years, despite the nearly threefold growth of the corn ethanol industry (or actually because of it), the U.S. corn crop grew by 35 percent, the production of distillers grain (a high-value animal feed made from the protein saved from the corn used for ethanol) quadrupled and the net corn food and feed product of the U.S. increased 26 percent.
Contrary to claims that farmers have cut other crops to grow more corn, U.S. soybean plantings this year are expected to be up 18 percent and wheat plantings up 6 percent. U.S. farm exports are
up 23 percent.
America is clearly doing its share in feeding the world. Agriculture is not a zero-sum game.
There are 800 million acres of farmland in the U.S., and only about 30 percent of it is actually being used to grow anything. As a result of the ethanol program, the corn price received by farmers doubled over the last five years, causing a huge increase in the amount grown in terms of acreage and yield.
The increased demand for food from the hundreds of millions of people in China and India rising out of poverty and moving to a more calorie-rich diet affects the price of food the most.
Second is the price of fuel. Higher fuel prices increase the cost of production, transport, wages and packaging, the main cost of retail food. For example, a $3 box of cornflakes contains 15 ounces of corn that cost 8 cents when bought from the farmer.
So, farm commodity prices have almost no effect on retail prices. But the effect of oil price increases can be huge.
Which brings us to the real culprit: the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. This year, with OPEC-rigged oil prices exceeding $100 a barrel, the U.S. will pay $800 billion for its oil supply, and the world as a whole will pay $3.2 trillion. These figures are both up a factor of 10 from what they were in 1999 and represent a huge regressive tax on the world economy.
In this, biofuels have done more good than damage to the poor.
According to Merrill Lynch analysts, without biofuel programs, the price of oil would be about $13 a barrel higher than it now is. A $13 savings for each barrel could save the U.S. $65 billion in foreign oil payments.
So, rather than shut down biofuel programs, we need to radically augment them, to the point where we can take down the oil cartel.
Congress can make this happen by passing a law requiring that all
new cars sold in the U.S. be flex-fuel vehicles that can run on any combination of gasoline, ethanol or methanol. The technology costs only about $100 per vehicle.
By making America a flex-fuel vehicle market, we will effectively make flex-fuel the international standard. Around the world, gasoline would be forced to compete against alcohol fuels made from a number of sources, including not only commercial crops such as corn and sugar, but cellulosic ethanol made from crop residues and weeds, as well as methanol made from any kind of biomass, coal, natural gas and recycled urban trash. By creating such a fuel market, we can enormously expand and diversify humanity's fuel resource base, protecting all nations from continued economic bleeding and, indeed, in some cases, starvation.
That, and not blindly accepting the naysayers' propaganda demanding the preservation of the oil monopoly, should be our course.

China Takes Gold in Methanol Fuel
In 2007 China surpassed Japan as the world’s second largest importer of oil behind the United States. Yet it is not sitting idly by content with increasing oil imports. According to U.S. Methanol Institute President & CEO John Lynn, “China is showing the rest of the world how clean transportation fuels can be made from coal.” Methanol is now a strategic transportation fuel in China and the rest of the world should take note.

Question: Selective use of Global Dimming has been put forward as a possible solution? to Global Warming, since it is thought to have marked the effects for many years. This is due to the fact that a large part of the radiant heat being reflected back into space before it could hit the surface and warm the planet. However these ideas were rejected due to the fact that global dimming relies on particles and gases in the atmosphere which have a deleterious effect on human health, specifically the particles aggravate asthma and the gases can cause acid rain and contaminated water sources.
The jury for current effect of programs like the Kyoto Protocol and carbon offset scheme is still out, with many now saying that it is and will not be enough to halt current production levels, with countries like the US being told they may have to scale back GHG production by as much as 80% to have any hope of stemming the apparent tide, which many analysts are saying could plunge world economies in unimaginable recessions.
So my question is, knowing that there would be deleterious effects to human health and the environment would you encourage or support the advent and use of technologies that selectively employ the Global Dimming effect as a way to either buying more time to reduce atmospheric GHG loads or as an offset to Global Warming?
Please explain Why/Why Not?
Thanks.
Answer: I'm already on record as favoring intervention (see the link).
Hitting the stratosphere with a bunch of aerosols both causes cooling and slams the brakes on CO2 accumulation; if you look at the Keeling curve around the eruption of Pinatubo, you can see that the CO2 level froze for about 2 years (probably because cooler water held more CO2). I've read that there was also a global drought around the same time; I do not recall this and have no evidence of it.
The reason NOT to use dimming to offset warming is that it is a ready-made excuse to do nothing about warming. But faced with a choice between that and 30,000 deaths from summer heat waves, I'll take the excuse.
Question: Why was OBL's family allowed to leave after 9/11? And possibly OBL chartered the plane?? http://judicialwatch.org/6322.shtml
http://www.judicialwatch.org/archive/2007/Saudi%20Docs%202.pdf
Judicial Watch Release:
The document states: “ON 9/19/01, A 727 PLANE LEFT LAX, RYAN FLT #441 TO ORLANDO, FL W/ETA (estimated time of arrival) OF 4-5PM. THE PLANE WAS CHARTERED EITHER BY THE SAUDI ARABIAN ROYAL FAMILY OR OSAMA BIN LADEN…THE LA FBI SEARCHED THE PLANE LUGGAGE, OF WHICH NOTHING UNUSUAL WAS FOUND.” The plane was allowed to depart the United States after making four stops to pick up passengers, ultimately landing in Paris where all passengers disembarked on 9/20/01, according to the document.
Overall, the FBI’s most recent document production includes details of the six flights between 9/14 and 9/24 that evacuated Saudi royals and bin Laden family members. The documents also contain brief interview summaries and occasional notes from intelligence analysts concerning the cursory screening performed prior to the departures. According to the FBI documents, incredibly not a single Saudi national nor any of the bin Laden family members possessed any information of investigative value.
Moreover, the documents contain numerous errors and inconsistencies which call to question the thoroughness of the FBI’s investigation of the Saudi flights. For example, on one document, the FBI claims to have interviewed 20 of 23 passengers on the Ryan International Airlines flight (commonly referred to as the “Bin Laden Family Flight”). On another document, the FBI claims to have interviewed 15 of 22 passengers on the same flight.
“Eight days after the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Osama bin Laden possibly charters a flight to whisk his family out of the country, and it’s not worth more than a luggage search and a few brief interviews?” asked Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Clearly these documents prove the FBI conducted a slapdash investigation of these Saudi flights. We’ll never know how many investigative leads were lost due to the FBI’s lack of diligence.”
We all know Bush authorized this. Why wasn't a more thorough investigation done by the FBI?
This info is from actual documents released by the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act. If it is a lie, the FBI told it.
Answer: It's all about friends of the family

Question: TEXCO PETROLEUM, RISING OIL PRICES? Oil prices are on the rise as demand for oil is steadily rising and there is not any halt in sight. Demand for oil is increasing in China, India and other emerging economies.
The International Energy Agency is predicting that global oil use will grow by 1.8% to 85.5m barrels a day in 2010. Analysts are anticipating a rise in the price of oil in the $85-$95 a barrel range in the second part of 2010. This rise in price is a 31% increase than originally estimated.
With China reporting expected growth of around 8%, oil prices may skyrocket as China is the largest consumer of oil after the U.S. As China begins to consume even more, the demand for oil will rise and as China accounts for about one-third of global oil demand growth, and that demand is not expected to slow.
Due to growing consumption in China, India and Brazil the predicted global demand is set to accelerate to 86.4 million barrels a day, up from 84.9mb/day in 2009. With dwindling production in the world's biggest oilfields, it is predicted that supply will fail to meet demand in 2010. This lack of supply will likely boost oil to $90/barrel this year and $110 in 2011.
As the population and economy in not only the U.S., but in emerging nations such as China and India continues to grow, the consensus among most analysts and agencies such as the IEA is that oil consumption will rise this year and as the demand increases, prices will soar as supply is limited.

Answer: Is there a question in here somewhere?
Question: Toyota closing California plant and 4,500 lose jobs. Is this some of Obama's hope and change? TOKYO – Toyota is shutting the California factory it ran with General Motors for 25 years — the first time the Japanese automaker is closing a major auto assembly plant ever.
The decision from Toyota Motor Corp., announced Friday, drew fire from U.S. unions, even as company officials and analysts defended it as unavoidable for money-losing Toyota, following General Motors Corp.'s decision in May to withdraw from the 50-50 joint venture.
Under the decision, Toyota will stop production at its Fremont, California-based New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., or NUMMI, in March 2010, and will move production to its other plants in the U.S., Canada and Japan.
Answer: You can personally thank Obama and the new Government Motors. This was a joint venture between GM and Toyota. When the old GM was killed off and the new one created, Toyota had no other option than to move the operations of building the Corolla and Tacoma Truck elsewhere. Part of "hope and change" I guess. 4,500 more jobs gone and more steps closer to Obama's Socialism.
Question: Why doen't the US make oil from coal, South Africa's been doing this for years. Don't we have alot of coal ? SECUNDA, South Africa -- Every day, conveyor belts haul about 120,000 metric tons of coal into an industrial complex here two hours east of Johannesburg.
The facility -- resembling a nuclear power plant, with concrete silos looming over nearby potato farms -- superheats the coal to more than 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It adds steam and oxygen, cranks up the pressure, and pushes the coal through a series of chemical reactions.
Then it spits out something extraordinary: 160,000 barrels of oil a day.
For decades, scientists have known how to convert coal into a liquid that can be refined into gasoline or diesel fuel. But everyone thought the process was too expensive to be practical.
The lone exception was South Africa, a one-time pariah state that had huge reserves of coal and, thanks to anti-apartheid sanctions, limited access to foreign oil. Sasol Ltd., a partly state-owned company, built several coal-to-liquids plants, including the ones at Secunda, and became the world's leading purveyor of coal-to-liquids technology.
Now, oil prices are above $70 a barrel, and Sasol has emerged as the key player at the center of the world's latest alternative-energy boom.
China is building a coal-to-oil plant costing several billion dollars in Inner Mongolia and may add as many as 27 facilities -- including some with Sasol's help -- over the next several years, according to a recent tally by Credit Suisse.
In the U.S., the Defense Department is studying coal-to-oil technology as a way to reduce the American military's dependence on Middle Eastern crude oil. And the National Coal Council, an industry association, is pushing for government incentives to help generate some 2.6 million barrels of liquid fuel a day from coal by 2025. That would satisfy some 10 percent of America's expected oil demand that year. The plan would require 475 million tons of coal a year, which represents more than 40 percent of current annual U.S. production. Industry officials believe America's coal reserves are big enough to allow for the extra production.
Coal-to-liquids "is not going to replace oil," says Lean Strauss, a Sasol executive who directs the company's overseas energy business. "But it's an important substitute. It is one of the solutions to energy security."
In June, two senators from coal-producing states, Barack Obama of Illinois and Jim Bunning of Kentucky, introduced a bill to offer loan guarantees and tax incentives for U.S. coal-to-liquid plants.
Sasol has found a particularly receptive audience in Montana's Democratic governor, Brian Schweitzer, who says he carries a lump of coal and a vial of liquefied coal with him at all times. He is lobbying coal companies and others to build coal-to-liquid plants across his state, which has some of the biggest coal reserves in the U.S.
Current estimates indicate the world has just 41 years of known oil reserves and 65 years of natural-gas supplies. It has enough coal reserves to last an estimated 155 years, with some of the largest reserves in the two biggest oil-consuming countries, the U.S. and China.
It's far from clear, however, that the world would be better off -- economically or environmentally -- by burning more coal to fuel cars and trucks.
One problem is that coal-to-oil projects are extremely expensive. A single plant capable of producing about 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day -- less than 0.5 percent of America's daily oil diet -- would cost an estimated $6 billion or more to build.
Energy analysts reckon that some coal-to-liquids projects can offer an acceptable return on investment when oil is priced as low as $30 or $35 a barrel, though such ventures might require government tax incentives to reduce operating costs. It seems likely that oil prices will stay above that level for a while, but the longer-term outlook is anyone's guess. An earlier flurry of interest in coal-to-oil facilities in the U.S. during the Carter administration in the late 1970s died after oil prices collapsed.
Coal-to-oil projects also pose serious environmental questions. When the South African facility superheats coal and turns it into a gas, one of the main waste products is carbon dioxide, thought to be a significant cause of global warming.
The Natural Resources Defense Council, a U.S.-based environmental advocacy group, estimates that the production and use of gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other fuels from crude oil release about 27.5 pounds of carbon dioxide per gallon. The production and use of a gallon of liquid fuel originating in coal emit about 49.5 pounds of carbon dioxide, they estimate. Even some boosters of the coal-to-oil plants describe them as carbon-dioxide factories that produce energy on the side.
"Before deciding whether to invest scores -- perhaps hundreds -- of billions of dollars in a new industry like coal-to-liquids, we need a much more serious assessment of whether this is an industry that should proceed at all," said David Hawkins, director of the Climate Center at the Natural Resources Defense Council, at a recent U.S. Senate hearing.
Coal-to-oil is one of several promising but potentially polluting technologies that are receiving new attention amid high oil prices. Energy companies are trying to unlock natural gas trapped in shale and other difficult rock formations. They're also tapping oil-soaked sands in Canada and so-called heavy oils in politically challenging places such as Venezuela. Environmentalists fear these new sources will outshine conservation as the way to address the world's growing thirst for energy.
In South Africa, environmental groups say Sasol's facilities have emitted huge volumes of carbon dioxide and pollutants, including sulfur dioxide. They say these have caused a host of respiratory problems in nearby communities. Sasol says its emissions of these pollutants are small compared to emissions by other companies' coal-burning electricity plants in the region.
Sasol officials acknowledge their facilities emit greenhouse gases and that building more coal-to-liquids facilities around the world "could have potentially significant implications, in the long run, for our commitment to reducing carbon intensity," according to a recent company report on its social and environmental programs.
Sasol says it plans to reduce its greenhouse-gas emissions per ton of product by 10 percent by 2015. Sasol and many other coal-to-oil proponents say that future coal-to-liquids plants can be built with newer technologies that trap carbon dioxide and store it, sharply reducing their emissions.
To many South Africans, Sasol is a huge success story. The company's daily production now meets about 30 percent of South Africa's transport-fuel needs. The country's 50-rand bank note even features a picture of one of Sasol's plants.
Sasol's share price has more than tripled over the past three years. Analysts estimate it earned about $2 billion in the year ended June 30, about 35 percent higher than the year before -- such a sharp rise that South African authorities are contemplating a "windfall tax" on the company.
Coal-to-oil technology dates back to the 1920s, when two German chemists, Franz Fischer and Hans Tropsch, developed a process to convert coal into a gas and then use it to make synthetic fuels. Coal-to-oil technology helped fuel the Nazi war machine, which lacked access to sufficient crude oil. International oil companies also experimented with the process but put it aside because oil was cheaper.
South Africa took a different view. The country lacked oil, but had enormous deposits of coal, much of which had limited market value because of its poor quality. In 1950, the government set up Sasol as a state-owned company and authorized funding for its first project, a coal-to-liquids facility called Sasolburg in the South African countryside.
When oil prices soared in the 1970s, South African officials decided to up the ante. They lent Sasol $6 billion to build two new facilities at Secunda -- each 10 times as large as Sasolburg. The government also privatized the company, listing it on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 1979. (The government maintains a 23.5 percent stake).
By the time the facilities were completed in the early 1980s, international oil prices were collapsing. The project was nonetheless a success for the white-dominated apartheid government because international sanctions were restricting South Africa's ability to buy foreign oil. The plants managed to stay profitable by continually boosting efficiency and expanding their end products to include plastics, fertilizers and explosives.
Besides the government loans, Sasol at various times received cash payments from the government when oil prices fell below a certain level. It eventually paid back the loans and stopped receiving subsidies for its coal-to-oil business by 2000.
Today, Secunda is a buzzing industrial hub with 16,000 employees, miles of interlocking pipes and cables, and eight colossal silos. The silos, each big enough to contain a football field, cool steam involved in the conversion process. Fuel trucks wait along the edge of the facility to fill up with gasoline. Nearby mines produce more than 40 million metric tons of coal a year -- as much as all of Illinois.
Outside the plant gates, Secunda has a boomtown feel. It has some 35,000 people, a BMW dealership and a multistory casino hotel called Graceland designed to evoke the "grand old age of Colonial America."
A growing focus for Sasol is marketing its technology overseas. The company first tried to do so in the 1990s, after apartheid ended, but executives found doors slammed in their faces. Oil was trading for less than $25 a barrel at the time. "We sat in corridors waiting for meetings that never happened because they didn't even know who Sasol was," recalls Pat Davies, Sasol's chief executive.
Sasol made its first inroads in countries such as Qatar that have big stockpiles of hard-to-transport natural gas. These countries were interested in Sasol's technology for turning natural gas into liquid fuel.
As oil prices began to perk up, Sasol drew interest on the coal front from China, with its big coal reserves and energy needs. In marketing materials produced for Chinese government officials and investors, Sasol offers a simple message: By 2015, 70 percent of China's oil imports will come from the Middle East. Yet the country has coal reserves equivalent to more than half the oil in the Middle East.
By 2004, Chinese energy planners began meeting with Sasol executives in Beijing to discuss the coal-to-oil process. That was followed by a series of meetings with policy makers and Chinese companies, capped by a gathering in Cape Town in June attended by visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
Coal-generated pollution is emerging as a major environmental crisis in China. Yet Chinese officials are apparently willing to accept more coal use if it means improving the country's energy security, especially if local companies can design facilities to use relatively clean-burning varieties of coal.
Shenhua Group, China's largest coal producer, has started work on China's first commercial coal-to-oil facility, designed eventually to produce as many as 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day. Although that plant uses a different process from Sasol's at Secunda, Shenhua officials are in negotiations with Sasol to jointly build at least one additional 80,000-barrel-a-day plant using the South African company's technique.
While Sasol would charge a fee for licensing its technology, its main interest is to share ownership in the facilities once they're built because it wants a share of the long-term profits. In China, Sasol is asking for a 50 percent equity stake in the projects. A Shenhua official says negotiations are going smoothly and the company hopes to begin construction soon.
In Montana, at least two companies, including the world's largest private-sector coal company, Peabody Energy Corp. of St. Louis, have said they are looking at potential coal-to-oil sites. Montana's Gov. Schweitzer says any excess carbon dioxide from a facility could be given to oil companies to be injected back into the ground to enhance recovery from old wells.
Bringing Sasol on board is critical, says Gov. Schweitzer. He says Wall Street banks want the South Africans to play a role because Sasol is the only company with a track record in the business. To woo Sasol executives, he says, he took them on a flight over Montana coal country last year.
"These are the guys everyone wants to take to the prom," Gov. Schweitzer says.
Sasol officials say they're interested in Montana and other potential sites in the U.S., provided they can find a suitable partner and receive tax or other incentives.
Coal-to-oil "is coming to the United States," Gov. Schweitzer proclaims. When it does, he says, other countries "will be scrambling to protect their oil supplies -- and we'll be energy independent."

Answer: Oil form Coal or Coal gassification was very expensive compared to other fuels. (Not so much now). Coal is plentiful in the US, but the environmental costs of extracting it and using it are very high. Not only does it destroy the landscape and ground water, burning it pumps more carbon into the atmosphere.
So at present, it is still to costly to turn to more than we all ready do.
