Question: How to get Structural, Engineering Auto CAD drafting projects online? Work at home.? I have a net work with Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Australia for Mechanical, Civil, Architectural Engineering drafters and Quantity Surveyors. Question: i have 8 years of experience as a land surveyor and i am applying for new job. how much should i ask for? my experience is in the western new york area and the jobs im applying for are in this area as well. at my current job im cad tech. & at times crew chief in field. im just trying to figure out how much to ask for

Answer: After 8 years you should know the answer to the question, but my question is "Do you have a license ?" This is what makes the difference in pay. You will have to wait and see what the owner offers you. You don't want to under bid the job and you don't want to ask for to much.

Question: Are quantity surveying firms marketing themselves correctly? Do you feel QS firms are actually spending some money to market themselves better? Most people I talk to, dont know who or what a quantity surveyor is. Is this an issue we should be worried about (as a fellow QS?) With new computer aided programs such as CAD and auto desktop which practically form a bill of quanitities in a blink of an eye. Could this be the end of QS's?

Answer: No way! As long as there are construction projects, QS's will be needed. As for the marketing, I have actually never seen a straight up QS firm. I feel that rather than call yourself a QS, you should call yourself a construction estimator, or a cost engineer. Those types of jobs are usually found within the estimating department of a CM firm or General Contractor.

Question: How to learn civil 3D? I would like to learn auto cad Civil 3D.I am Working as a surveyor and draftsman from last 5 years and have good experience in auto cad.But I need someone who can guide me to learn Civil 3D.And also Guide me Civil 3D or 12D which is Better for earthwork quantities.And more helpful for Civil Contractor jobs.

Question: Land surveyors in Oregon? My husband is a land surveyor, and one day he's thinking about switching his job to the office part of it doing Auto CAD. We live in Orange County, California right now, but have family in Oregon. I know land surveying pretty much flows with the economy - how is it in Oregon? Is it fast, slow, or rollercoaster like? Answer: Oregon is still churning along at a good pace, thanks in part to the rollback of Measure 37. The salary levels are lower in Oregon than in Orange County, so be ready for that. Question: What is SDR Map? My friend working as a land surveyor asked me to find a software called SDR Map. He said its can be used as a data processor before transfered to the Auto cad. What exactly is it? Where to download it?
